Hey guys, Took the z out today for the longest ride it's ever had, it ran wonderful but being almost out of gas I stopped for 10 gallons before I went home. I noticed fluid on the garage floor and then the dreaded gas smell, I thought maybe it had just overflowed but on closer inspection it is seeping out the sending unit. I dried everything, checked all hoses, clamps, etc then removed the rear tire. After watching the sending unit area I noticed it started to seep. Before I had always just had a few gallons in the tank so it never leaked, but if the fuel is above the sending unit it's leaking. Is there a sealer I could use till I can replace the o-ring. I know they make…

Hey guys, Long story short i couldnt get the starter (right amount of teeth and all) to fit into the nub in the bell housing. So i trimmed a fair amount of the nose cone and now it fits, but im afraid it may snap. What do you think? Pics: Yes? No? Very good? Thanks so much! Abe

My brake light circuit was bypassed by a PO. The brake lights work but he bypassed the blinkers and 4 way flashers to do it. Blinkers don't work. They still appear to be wired normally. No 4 way flasher switch is installed. Could this be a reason the blinkers dont work and the brake light circuit was bypassed with a splice? If so can I jumper the flasher switch to get things working till I get a 4 way flasher switch or should I just locate a flasher switch and keep things the way they are till I have it? Thanks BTW I asked this as part of the daily update to my "3 years of sitting..." thread in the members help forum. Don't mean to double post the question but want to m…

Still monkeying with the steering rack. I have two of them here; one from a '71 and one from a '72. On both racks, the outside diameter onto which the rubber boot fits measures 36 mm. When I bought a pallet of parts off a guy down east last year, there were two brand new "McQuay-Norris" boots from Black Dragon. Great, except they have a diameter of 45 mm. The boxes they came in had Black Dragon part #62-400. I wrote BD, attaching pics of my rack with a vernier caliper showing 36 mm, and their boot clearly indicating 45 mm. Their reply was that part 62-400 is the right part for my car. Period. I went on McQuay Norris's website, and they too have only one part # f…

I am reassembeling the rear control arms on my 71 240. I didnt check before taking them apart, but are the control arms a mirror image of eachother? Would one go basicly upside down from the other? I knew I should have taken pictures! There was some rear end dammage to the car, and I am thinking the shop may have ordered two of the same sides? I am SURE that I didnt mix them up. But I dont see Nissan making one that would be correct fitment for both sides. I kinda hope I am wrong cause I alread pit the new spindle pins in and I hope I dont have to do that again! Thanks, W

i have a 1977 280z,and i have had the nissan dealership here in tucson az change the rear main seal (the seal do not leak any more) but the oil pan gasket since then has not stop leaking. Now they told me that the reason is that there was two oil pan support bracket missing wich i have now purshaced from one of the member, there are willing to redo the job and this time use the support for the pan but they are telling me that it is going to be better not to use a oil pan gasket this time and just use silicone.Should i agree on that and if one of the member as used silicone instead of the gasket what was the result.thank you for helping me Regards serge

I'm a little confused about a section of the L28 motor, I currently own a '77 & '78 280z (just bought in very nice condition). I know there are slight differences between the two years, but have found multiple FSM's for both years showing 2 different variations. Can anyone tell me which one is the correct setup for both years? Thanks Diagram1.pdf Diagram2.pdf
