I need to know what thread patterns are used on each of these portions of the thermostat housing. I believe that "A" & "B" are 1/4" BSPT but I'm not sure, I just know that 1/4" NPT doesn't seem to fit. "D" & "E" seem to be parallel threads of some sort. I'm trying to hook up my Auto Meter temp sensor and all of the adapters it came with are NPT and don't seem to thread in. I just got my 280z the end of December and I want/need to be able to monitor things so I know I have a stable engine before I move on to some of the bigger projects on the car. Replacing all of the hoses etc. has turned into a bigger project than I anticipated Thanks, Tim Image taken f…

I have a 77 280Z with an 82 model alternator, prior to rewiring a complete mess of things i had the charging system working great(alternator producing 13.85-14.00V). Now after correcting many mistakes (previous owner) in the wires under the dash the alternator only puts out aprox 10.00-10.50V. Could the alternator died all of a sudden? Could i have cross some wires that would have this effect? I followed the wiring diagram exactly as it showed with just a few changes due to having automatic wiring harness with a manual trans (again previous owner). Or could the wire harness be the problem? Thanks in advance!

This past Saturday I got to drive my Z (1971 240-Z) a fair bit. During the winter I try and pick a clear day with dry roads to give the car some exercise about once a month. I drove about 30 miles at highway speeds, then another 5 in city traffic. I shut the car down for about 15 minutes, then went back to it to resume errands. It started just fine, I pulled into traffic in first, then second...than a loss of power. I coasted into a parking lot, popped the hood and checked for loose wires (didn't see any). Got back in and turned it over, and it started. Drove about 2 more miles and the same thing happened again, and again I pulled to a stop, hit the starter, and o…

I am happy to report that after 24 years, and some great help from members of this forum, I was been able to drive my 1974 260z for the first time. I still need some fine turning on the carbs, but I am moving on to the next step of her refreshing!! The exterior tail light panel has chrome plating around the tail lights. I have called several platers in Houston and Fort Worth without any luck. I looked at two z suppliers for after market parts but they do not list this item. The panel is ok except the chrome. Can this surface be re-plated, restored or something???

Hi Zcar lovers I have a 71 240Z, after 2 years of pure joy the fuel pump has just stopped..... I have removed the pump and with a direct charge it pumps fine, the pressure is good. I suspect that there is a fuse issue, however for love nor money i cannot find it. this might be a very stupid question but I have spent to long trying to solve this and i need to drive. Please help!

Hello. I'm new here so please excuse me if I posted this in the wrong place. I mean no disrespect! -- I just bought a 1978 280z and it came with a box of parts. I'm having a heck of a time identifying the two pieces in the photos attached. Can you help me? They might go with the previous owner's 240z but they were in the box labeled for the 280z. Thanks in advance for your help. I've looked through listings on various sites and in my service manual but can't seem to figure this out. -- James

Ok, so I may be really dumb. I just picked up my 72 240z a few weeks ago and both door locks work with the one key I received but no matter what I've tried I've been unable to lock the rear hatch. I know some older cars had a separate trunk key but I only got one. The push button mechanism works perfectly but I just can't lock it so I don't feel safe putting my radar detector or stereo in the car. I searched on here but couldn't find anything definitive so I wanted to see if there was some trick to locking the the hatch first of all. Second, would it require a different key and that's why I can't lock it? Third, what could I do to remedy this problem? I've been loo…

I just came across a 1970 240z that a friend of mine have for sale, even though it has a pretty low vin # 6235. There are lots of rust under the doglegs (both sides), doors, near the gas door, rear hatch, battery tray. He's asking for $1700 for the car. I was thinking is this too much $ for the car in current condition? Please give me some advice, I would greatly appreciate thanks.
