Video: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v661/ShutdownZo6/?action=view¤t=popcornmachine280zx.mp4 So last night I went out to Seafoam my 280zx and when I pulled the PCV hose to the brake booster off, the engine died. I plugged the hose with my thumb and started it back up, went to add seafoam and it died before I could. I decided to see if I could get it to stay running by holding down the throttle a bit, which worked. I let go and the engine died. I only have so many hands, so I put the Seafoam away and made a video to get some feedback 1. ) checked the distributer cap for cracks, it looks ok. 2.) I replaced the plugs and wires a week or two ago. 3.) I si…

My restoration project is now at the rear control arms. They're about to be sandblasted and painted. But they're so light! Does anyone know of any failures of these parts? I can imagine seams and joints separating. I have no intention of racing this car, but I think back to my racing days, and we used to re-weld entire seams of stock frames and control arms. Any thoughts or experiences to share? Thanks

So as I was examining my distributor, I began to notice various wires that had nothing connected to them, and some threaded holes in the engine block with nothing attached, am I missing important parts?? Thank you!

Hello everybody, I'm back with with my 1976 280Z headache. Underneath the T.B is a vacuum valve(i think) that is called Engine Speed Control Valve. Hopefully I am right. That valve has two diaphragms inside. Well mine are almost gone which I think create a major vacuum leak. The question is where can I get those? Or at least the whole valve. Is there any rebuild kit available somewhere? Please I will appreciate any kind of help. Thank u very much. Also I will post my phone number, so anybody can call me with any ideas. Well I removed the head today expecting to find the gasket cracked, ripped, or just in horrible shape. To my amazement the gasket looked new and in great shape. I had been having oil seep out between the head and block. No other signs of having a problem other than that though. The car ran fine, well except for the carbs, and never ran hot or leaked coolant. Anyways, if the head checks out as straight, what would I need to do? I have got a new gasket but what can I gently clean the head and block with to get it clean for the new gasket. The block is still assembled and in the car. Can I use a type of scotchbrite pad to clean the surfaces? Any recommendations on in…

My 78 originally had AC, but the pump no longer functions, and I have a ton of vacuum hoses that need replacing. Is there a way to simplify the system, can I remove or bypass the two magnet valves or eliminate the fast idle actuator ect.

I am in the process of removing the head to replace the head gasket due to oil leaking out around the edges between the block and head. I have already tried to re-torque the head bolts and they are all good. Anyways... Do I have to remove the cam sprocket to release the chain after wedge the tensioner to secure the chain? Can I simply mark everything and take the chain off carefully and replace gasket then set head and slip chain back over sprocket matching exact tooth that it was taken off of. If this is done then how important is it to find exactly tdc as long as everything is put back the way it was before head removal. Thanks, Brian
