It is sooooo close. When the car is cold, it will fire and purr for about a second or two. After that one time, it won't start again. It will get close, but it puffs whiteish smoke out of the carbs every few revolutions. I can come back the next day and it will fire up and purr again (once). Any ideas what could be causing that? Stuff I've checked: Spark - the fact that it runs so smoothly for that second or so makes me think it has a fine spark. This had been the most previous issue and I redid the distributor (new cap, rotor, and condenser). Fuel - Both SU carbs have fuel in the float chamber. I spun the bolt off the bottom of both and the…

I have installed a wide ratio 5-speed transmission from a 1977-1979 280Z into my 1970 240Z and want to verify which gear shift I should be using. I'm thinking it is 4, 5, 6, or 7.

Ok, so I have a 240Z that I have put an L28 in and just getting to installing the radiator. This is the stock radiator that I had cleaned up so it came out of the car. I managed to get it in and noticed that the fan was up against the radiator. I'm using the later model plastic blade fan. I'm not sure what may be the issue. I have replace the fan clutch, could that be the problem, is it too long? Any thoughts, input, experience on this would be helpful. If you need pix I can take some.

5/71 240Z. Went to drive home late at night from the SnowBall Rally in April, discovered no headlights, neither high nor low beams. Headlights used to work, but now don't. Trying to figure out the issue before the MotherLode 400 Rally. My combo switch had been falling apart, suspected that was the problem. Jay Zinc refurbished my combo switch, tested it, but still no headlights. Pulled every single fuse I can find, including all the fuses in the aftermarket fuse block that Fitted Garage installed, they all have continuity. Found the headlight power connector, confirmed that both filaments in both stock headlights have continuity. No voltage detected at the mating …

I have a 1970 240Z that I am putting a 280Z engine in (N42 block which should be from a '75-80 Z car). I have heard that there were three different oil pans and some had fitment issues in some cars. So my question is this...will the stock oil pan on the 280Z engine fit in my 240Z without issues? Does anyone have pictures of the different pans and identify which is which?

Ok, so I know that this is supposed to be a press fitting yet it is not working out that way. The pipe is too small to fit snugly into the hole (see here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/2HYFBuU5VDL6rRxS9). Does anyone have any ideas? The only think I came up with was a pipe expansion tool to make the tube a little larger to fit snugly...problem is I do not have such a tool.

Need some data. Purchased 73 240Z with a transplanted L28 N42 NA engine, from the mid 80's (high mileage engine). Have zero history of the parts used in the engine. What PSI compression ratio's should I expect on an old rebuild not knowing dome or flat piston. How can I verify the piston config? All seam to be in the 155 psi range # 4 cylinder is the highest at 162 psi . Interesting that # 4 with highest compression pulls the lowest vacuum number on the airflow meter at the intake? Thanks.

After long battle, I finally found spark but now I need to figure out how to organize plug order on top of the distributor. I tried to find dead centre by putting a screwdriver inside Spark click hole number one to piston comes to top, but all that does is end up having the rotor point to a funny direction around around 3 o’clock looking from the driver seat. I know it should be pointing around 830 but when the rotor is at 8:30 the piston is not at TDc. The distributors on the only way I can go on. It is lined up and seated properly the distributor rotates properly, but I cannot figure out where sparkling number one is any help this would be great. I do see the mark on t…

My clutch pedal pivot is severely worn and needs replacement. The problem that I am having is that the bushings for the clutch and brake pedal are NLA from Nissan , or least I have not found any. My idea is to replace the metal bushings with a bushing machined out of Delrin or possibly Teflon . It would be a one piece bushing drilled to 12MM for the pivot bolt and the OD sized to be a press fit into the clutch pedal tube (about .75"). Any thoughts if this will work, would wear be a problem? Any input would be appreciated.
