ok, got new battery and the plug wires connected... tried to start it and no go.... fuel gauge was empty...so I put some gas in it, but the previous owner said it had half a tank...when I shook the car I could hear what I guess is the sending unit in the tank? is it a floating type sender? anyways...I put more gas in the tank and it started leaking at the rubber hose/hose clamp fitting on the rear of the gas tank......(near the muffler/bumper?) so I figure the tank was really empty prior to me putting gas in it... can I pull the hose clamp/hose and re-cut the hose, re-mount the line and check for leak, add gas? lastly, for the wiring order on the distro cap...it looks …

Anybody used EGT sensors for tuning Webers? I have a used set, professionally rebuilt, and am determined to learn how to tune them to perfection. I already have a wide band O2 guage with sensor bungs in EACH header pipe. However, I have only ONE guage. So I have to move the sensor from pipe to pipe to tune it. I'm not willing to pay the $ to get a 6 cylinder guage, but I AM willing to pay for a 6 cylinder exhaust temperature guage. I found a guage from Westach with a switch to change between cylinders, but it is designed for aircraft use and, aparently aircraft engines are specifically designed to use these things. My '72 240, however, is NOT. The sensors are held in pla…

Hi all, I have a '72 Z and have been cleaning it up on a home garage resto. Body parts are being painted, rear half of the car is having body work finished up. The running gear is in tact, engine, tranny, and rear end. I added headers and exhaust, and removed smog stuff from the intake. It has been awhile since I last had the car running, and when I went to fire the car up, I used a bit of starting fluid to hear it fire. It fires up just fine with the short squirt of starting fluid, but it doesn't seem to be pulling fuel from the tank. I manually sucked fuel up to the filter, so I know there is fuel there. Before I started the resto, the car started up fine and ran l…

Hello All, I dug my current project 240 out of a barn in my hometown. No Title or Registration to be found. Is there any way to detemine what year this car is based on either VIN Number, body or frame differences, any clues at all? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Removed electric fuel pump from my 1977 280 Z . I put the pump back on and connected the green wire to larger terminal and black wire to smaller terminal on the pump. I also put a clear filter between the gas tank and the inlet line to the fuel pump. The car is not wanting to start and I'm wondering if I have the two wires connected correctly. I can't see any fuel in the filter I installed and wonder also if the fuel pump has to some way be primed since it is a wet type fuel pump. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Can anyone identify what goes here? I believe this part is the key to getting this vehicle to crank. I've gone through every wiring diagram I can find and cannot account for this plug or what connects to it. Thanks

Found this dandy in the trunk of my non-running '77 280Z. Where does this part fit? Does it belong to my car? Lectron part no. 22529628 4341 :stupid: Okay.. so now that I know it doesn't belong.. anybody want it before I donate it to the Goodwill?

So today I just pulled my drive shaft out, drained and pumped new fluid into the tranny. Replaced the diff fluid as well. The tranny was leaking, and it was low on fluid when I did this. But I filled it up all the way, I dont really hear anything until Im going about 45 or 50 mph. The tranny shifts good, it shifts better than before, no grinding and smooth as butter. Do you know what this humming could be? It sounds like its coming from the front I had the arse end up when I took the driveshaft off and replaced the seal so no fluid came out. I knew I was low on fluid, so I lowered the car then jacked up the right side a little and pumped new fluid in. It was .75 liters sh…
