I have my carbs off and want to rebuild them.I am having some trouble finding the right kit for my carbs.I have a 73 240Z with a L28 motor.I was told that this motor is out of 280Z.Is this correct?I know they are the dome type with 4 screws, but I see no numbers any place on the carbs...The kits that I have looked at on line or in a book, dont seem to have the floot valve or the needle valve, just just O rings and a couple of gaskets.Do they not make a total rebuild kit?.............................................Thank u,Matt

I currently own a 71 240z and am building two motors. I have an 2.8L that is completely stripped down and ready for rebuild. I also own a complete VG30ET. I really want to keep the 2.8L but have concerns with tuning the SU Carbs on a regular basis versus just implementing the Fuel Injected VG. Does anyone live in the New England Area where the temperature and humidity can change hourly? If so, how does this affect your carb equipped motors? How much tuning is needed on a regular basis to make the motor run right. I understand that Carb motors need more attention than f.i motors but i want to enjoy driving the car without the hassle of needing to tune it every time i turn …

Please take a moment and read. I am 17 miles from home and about the same from work. 1972 Z not charging. Very low battery level, not enough I think to get me to either destination. What roadside repair can I look at? I have a basic cheap 99 piece tool kit, but no manual with me. Rather not put it on the hook. Started going dead in a thunderstrorm with headlights and wipers (for what they are) on. Saw the negative guage reading and pulled over. Suggestions please for a roadside possible save. Thanks.

I thought I had everything I need to convert my 72 heater panel to a new 73 but apparently not. Since the cable bracket is different the 72 fan switch wont fit - i.e the stem on the switch is TOO SHORT to reach to the front of the panel and attach the knob. Anyone have a 73 fan switch hey can sell me? - if possible I would like the knob too. Hoping that the electrical connector is the same on the 73 as the 72. TOTALLY FRUSTRATED!! Dave

After replacing the vacuum heater control valve and hoses on my '78, the heater doors will not close when I switch to vent or A/C. They worked fine before doing this. The heater works well as does the A/C. No leaks from either the valve or hoses. Before replacing the A/C bezel, I lubricated the fan speed, temperature and selector mechanisms with lithium grease. The only thing I have noticed was that after replacing the A/C bezel, the selector switch doesn't seem to fit into some of the notches as securely as before. Any ideas as to what could be the problem?

Car: 1978 Datsun 280Z fully stock. Great condition. Problem: When I first start the car and engage my clutch it makes a very high pitch squealing sound. It only lasts for like my first few gear changes (first 5-15 seconds - maybe not even that.) After that it's fine. My friends were guessing it was my e-brake. But I know its down? I know my Parking Brake IS down. But are E-brakes known know to stick? The car is drivable but when I hear the sound I die a little on the inside because I know my car is hurting... Help! All comments welcome.

Im leaking diff fluid from the bottom of the diff, I suspect the gasket is bad. I have the R180 diff with the MALE square fill and drain plugs. I wilshI had the female plugs so I could stick a breaker bar and crack em open. I cant get these to budge. I need advice on how to get these loose. The other thing is, Im leaking tranny fluid on the driveshaft that connects to the transmission. Can I simply disconnect the shaft from the diff and pull the shaft out? I know there is a seal there and I know it needs replacement. I stopped driving my car as of now to prevent any damage. I did hear the tranny whine a little bit at higher speeds, didnt do it before. Probably is low o…

The new exhaust gasket I received has flat metal on one side of it around the exhaust ports. Does the metal side go against the head or the manifold?
