Hello from blighty guys. I have a problem with my 1974 260Z, I bought this car about a year ago as a restoration project and have been going great guns with it nearly being ready for the road again. My problem is that I hadn't realized that not only didn't I have the original rivet on chassis plate I also had no sign of the stamped in number on the firewall due to it having been painted quite a few times, I've stripped the paint off the area but it appears that it's been rubbed away while being prepped for painting. Is their anybody in the US doing reproduction chassis plates that I can stamp up myself ?. Rob

i was driving down the interstate doing 65mph when my rpms dropped from 3200 to zero and the car's engine just died out on me. i tried to restart with the choke and got nothing. messed around with the dual carbs tried again and it almost started but the rpms went way up on me to the 3000 range then i got a loud backfire out of the exhaust like a .45 cal hand gun. tried messing with the carbs a little more by hand adjusting them, didnt have a screwdriver, and the same happened again got the loud backfire and could never get the car started. i walked to the nearest gas station bought extra gas and still i couldnt get the car started, had it towed to the house and its sitti…

Howdy Ya'll: I'm Lynn Jones and I have a problem I am in urgent need of help with. Recently bought a street rod that supposedly has rear suspension and brakes from a mid-70's Z Car with rear drum brakes and coil springs (I mention this because the only illustration I can find that looks like my brake adjuster assembly is that of a Datsun 1600). I have some braking issues. Neither I, my mechanic, or the guy I bought the rod from knows the year. My problem is identifying the year of the Manual Brake Adjuster Assembly. The right side assembly is missing what are called Side Tappets (that engage the star wheel). I am also having issues identifying the brake cylinders. I des…

None of the local auto parts stores carried 1/2" FI hose so I ended up getting it at a marine supply place. Problem is, other than making a bit loop I don't see how I'm gonna get the 90* bend from the tank to the pump. Here's a picture of what the hose looks like: Is there a place that sells this hose? MSA didn't have it, they only had lines for carbed S30s.

Hello everyone, I have a 78 280z 2+2 with a 4 speed. I recently had issues with the engine that made it run rich enough to gas up the oil and it wouldn't run without flooring it basically. I had the AFM adjusted leaner, the cold start disconnected, and had it running well and one day it did this. so we swapped the engine out of my dad's 80 280zx because he wants a SBC in his. I had to move my temp sensor to the thermostat like on the old engine, use my distributor and replace the temp gauge sending unit, along with a few other swaps to configure the cooling and the vacuum to work right. The engine ran GREAT in his car, and we just put his AFM into it with the engine. …

Hey, I'm new to this site, its seems great so far. I'm in the market for a 72' 240Z. Anyway, I had a few questions; will repainting it to a different color cause it to lose value? How much is it going to cost me more or less to install an A/C? Finally, can anyone recommend a good mechanic in North Carolina? As close to Jacksonville as possible would be great. Thanks!
