Hi everyone! I recently bought a 77 280z, trailered it home and put 5 galons of gas in her. When I tried it, it fired with a little coaxing. The idle didn't want to stay even and when I'd give her some throttle she tried to die. On second try she fired right up, I noticed the tach is at 2000, and doesn't move, but idle is still rough, when I give her throttle, she bogs and then made a clapping sound then tries to die. Playing with the throttle would keep her running, but sounding bad. Slowly bringing up the throttle was a little better, but would end up with same smack or clap sound and try to die. I checked the dizzy and noticed the #5 and #6 plugs were backwards and it …

I just wanted to thank all you folks for cataloging such a huge volume of information in one site. I was able to come home from the yard today with an armload of parts from 260s and 280s for my 240 thanks to you guys. They were pretty well picked-over but I found some good stuff we can use. Seats! omg! yay! Fuel cap is an elusive little bugger, ain't it?!

Hi All, I am in need of a part which I located in the state of Washington but have an issue purchasing. The seller is hesitant to sell over the phone or ship the item so I would like to find a member who is willing to pick up the part and ship it to me. I live in Los Angeles and have been a member of this forum and many Z forums for a while now. I persuaded the seller to ship the item, but he is asking $100 to ship a corner valance for a 280zx Turbo. He says it's an inconvenience and this is the only terms he is willing to go by. I have no other options and this is the cleanest piece I have been able to locate. I can send the money by Paypal or Money order to the pers…

This seems stupid but I have to ask to make sure I'm not tripping. First off, I went out to swap the 280zx dizzy for the the 240 dizzy. I'm looking at everything to get my bearings and I can't find the ballast resistor. I know what it looks like and where it's supposed to be but it ain't there. It's supposed to be on the drivers side just down from the coil right? Second thing...I'm checking the plug wires and something doesn't look right but I'm still new to the L24 so I thought I better ask about it. My wires are run like the pic below which looks like #3 and #6 are crossed. Am I right?

Okay, I'm working on a 1973 240Z which has been sitting for, oh, 10 years or so before I bought it. I am shopping for batteries, and low and behold I realized something rather odd. My car has side post battery cables (as best I can tell, I've never owned or worked on a car with side post battery cables before), and as best as I can tell, the Z came with more conventional battery cables. My questions on the matter boil down to -Is my conclusion correct? -What size battery do I really need? -Should I switch the battery cables and get a top-post battery, or just buy a side post battery? I don't know if there is any performance, durability, or monetary reason to go with …

Hey there, for those of you who responded to my previous questions, thank you very much. I have a 77 280z, that I finally got running! My problem now is that it is running far to rich. I have good fuel pressure, new air flow meter, new fuel filter, new alternator, new cap and rotor on the distributer, new plug wires and a new coil... I am fuel fouling plugs in about 2 minutes, the exhaust is terrible (black and white smoke under power, white smoke at idle, car actually blows excellent smoke rings!) The car lacks power most of the time, unable to even back into my garage anymore, problem is steadily getting worse (car actually drove well around the block earlier)... Gone t…

'72 240z- triple 45 dcoe weber carbs Hi, I have a problem with my idle. When the car is warmed up and sitting and idling it holds at about 500 rpm just fine, but sometimes when I drive it and come to a stop it'll slowly stumble to about 300 rpm and then die on me. I'm not too sure that's going on. Help! Thanks Tyler

i'm planing on cleaning and restore all the bolts(metal) i have. what is the easiest and most effective way to clean them? i was reading this thread: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16506&highlight=electrolysis but it more related to removing rust. I don't have any rust. I just want to refresh the metal and make it look new again. any suggestions?

Hi, I have a 77 formerly fuel injected L-28 with tripple weber 40dcoe's. The engine ran rich before with some weber dgv32/36's also. Excellent exhaust, later model distributor. I know its way too much fuel for this engine. It'll blacken a set of plugs really fast. I just dont know how to correct the problem, or if it can be corrected. Chokes, jets, cam? It'll run fine, until it fouls out a set of plugs every 20 miles putting it around. Any help would be appreciated. Hey does anyone want set of tripple webers? .
