I made a rookie mistake and had all the pieces of my transmission crossmember power coated including the inner piece that has the rubber bushings. Well the rubber bushings melted away- go figure. I turned to the poly bushings which apparently don't fit a 72 mount and now I'm at a bit of a loss. Anybody have any replacement ideas or even an old mount with good bushings laying around? The OEM replacement bushings have been NLA for years. Zeddsaver has a restored one for $200 plus shipping so that is always a (pricy) option. I'm trying to keep my restoration as correct as possible so I really want to stick with the original mount style. Picture of my mount style below …

Some interesting parts have magically appeared in my garage over the past 2 weeks .... This is a small sample, does anyone recognize the 2 different headers? This is a clutch I took off a rebuilt motor I am toying with, (more on that later), am I right that it is a centerforce II?

Hello everyone, More Datsun issues that I can't solve. So my car didn't come with a wiper switch or a turn signal switch. In a search for one online I can not for the life of me find one that fits the wires that I have. Either I'm missing something or I'm stupid. I've looked on http://datsunforum.com/datsun-240z-sport-1971-fsm-supplement/ for my year car 6/1971. So far the only things that match are the plugs the rest really don't. Here are some photos for reference.

So I've had my 280z for about two years now. I have always had low oil pressure for some odd reason when I idle and the car is warm. This issues continued after changing to a new oil pressure sensor, and continued even after installing a rebuilt e88 head and swapping to triple webers. If I start the car cold, oil pressure gauge usually sits about halfway or a tad above with the car idling about 1000rpms. With the engine hot and driving the oil usually goes up about 5 to 10 psi for every 1000 rpm. The weird thing about my issue is when the engine is warm the gauge drops below 0 psi at idle acting like the gauge isn't even working. I have yet to find a solution …

Hello, I just recently ditched the Stock FI system on my 1978 Datsun 280z and went over to Triple Weber's, with it I also upgraded to the 280zx distributor with the E12-80 ignition and upgraded the coil to the MSD Blaster Coil 2. Car started up like a dream considering they are brand new Weber's and haven't been tuned. However my Tachometer stopped working properly. Either it doesn't work or it somewhat jumps around sporadically while driving. Am I missing something?

Hi team! I have an on/off (random, every couple weeks recently) hesitation under load through all gears. Fine to idol and get off the line, but as I add more gas, it stumbles and feels like it is choking. I heard detonation under this while driving last night. I thought I'd limp home but it mysteriously fixed itself and full performance came back. New fuel filter in the engine bay, checked plugs and they are fine. 280 block, head was redone about a year and a half ago, same time added new Ztherapy carbs. 280zx dizzy and standard coil. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance, pic below for inspiration.

Hello everyone, I have a 1971 Datsun 240z I’ve had for a while. Unfortunately for me when I bought it the head gasket was blown and rusted the cylinder wall so the engine was seized but I was lucky enough to obtain an engine off a running 1972 240z. My 1971 didn’t come with a harness so I also got one from the same model and production month as mine 1971/6 so it fit nicely In my car. Another unfortunately is my datsun is idling weird. I wouldn’t even consider it to be called “idling.” The mechanical pump is taking in fuel, the ignition coil and distributor is working because I’m getting spark, the engine cranks over and starts when I put the key all the wa…

Hello back again unfortunately, another issue. So while trying to stop all vacuum leaks on my engine, I took the balance tube of because the engine was I believe a 72-73 so it had the egr tubbing in it. I ended up using a balance tube from a 71 because it was simpler and less stuff to close up. One issue is that the linkages are messed up. I got it to be able so that when the linkage is at rest the butterfly valves shut. Only issue is the rod from the firewall to the crank bell is too short. Did the datsun’s have a different length rod or did I mess something up? If worse comes to worse I’ll just cut it and weld a piece to make it longer. I couldn’t find anything on …

Hey everyone, I’m looking for someone near me (I’m in Conroe TX) to get some work done on my 77 280z. As I’m sure y’all are like me when it comes to your Z, you don’t want just anyone working on it. I’m basically looking to have A/C installed. I’ve finally tracked down all the parts, factory inside all new under the hood. Thanks for any recommendations! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’m a younger kid and I just recently got a 1978 280z. The car will turn over and fire but it will die after I let go of the key or shortly after. I have test the spark plugs and got a new fuel pump. I also shot out the fuel rail and am running the fuel pump right out of the fuel rail. I can’t figure out why it won’t start and would like some help please
