Hello, I'm new here. Me and my father are looking for a 240z to buy. We are looking for Z's in the area. We recently came across a 1973 240z for 11,000$ with 76K miles on it. It has a few upgraded items and I was wondering if they were proper upgrades or if I should look somewhere else. The other thing is, it has an Electric start switch that was placed in order to start easier. If I did purchase, should I keep this or should I remove it? Does it serve in any beneficial way? Thanks for your help!!! Does this sound right? Sellers Description: There are not many rust free 1972 cars are out there. --underbody seams are sealed. A responsibly improved classic! I have it insure…

hi, Got a rally prepped 240Z which had a full engine rebuild a few months ago. Ever since getting it back its had a tap, just like a loose tappit or rocker. We have tried everything to try and track this down. 1. tightened all the rocker clearances down to 0 and briefly ran the engine, tap the same. 2. took front cover off and checked chain tensioner etc. 3. took pan off and checked big ends and mains etc. 4. ran engine with 1 spark plug out, one by one, cant detect tap from that. 5. When spinning engine with all spark plugs out there is no tap. 6. 'scoped through the plug holes to check all the valves are ok and not touching a piston. 7. the only thing we havent done is …

Can anyone tell me are the 240 and 260 steering racks interchangable? They appear to be identicle, although I believe the ratios are different. The reason I am asking is I have a spare 260 rack and a mate wants to buy it for a 240. What would it be worth ? As they dont appear to be available I don't want to GIVE it away, also dont want to rip the guy off. Thanks for any info.

Now I would have searched to see if anyone else had this issue but I would feel bad for them. I was driving to cars and coffee this morning when about half way there my speedometer started to freak out jumping from 80 to 160. So I tried slowing down to see if that did anything but nothing, after a bit it went back to my current speed, and stayed. After another few minutes it shot back up and promptly went full circle to 0 mph then back to 160. The last thing it did was and i'm not sure because I couldn't really believe it. It seemed to spin completely around until the needle fell off. Does this sound like it was the speedo or made the cable got messed up and caused th…

I'm trying to help a friend with what seems to be fueling problems on his '79 280ZX. He lives in a different city, which limits what I can do. Here's a recent note from him: "I connected a vacuum meter between the intake manifold and the fuel pressure regulator and hooked a pressure gauge to the fuel rail and took the Z out for a drive. For about the first five minutes the vacuum gauge read normal and the fuel pressure would vary from about 30 to 36 lbs and the car ran quite well. About a mile down the road the vacuum gauge started acting erratic and the fuel pressure also varied around 28-30lbs seeming to respond to the changes in vacuum. A few minutes later the vacuum …

I did a search and there's a lot of threads on how to replace the bushings, but my problem is how people are getting the darned nut off at the bottom of the shifter rod. That thing is now fused to the circular rod, and i can't pull out the shifter and replace the bushings with it on there. Any ideas? I heard mention that there is a 14mm flat spot but i don't see it ANYWHERE. Do I have to obliterate the old rubber bushings to find it?

Recently a daily driver after years of sitting. More new stuff then I can make note of, but includes new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, AFM, tank, fuel lines, fuel filter. Was driving on the interstate doing 65 then instantly car dies. No sputtering, no warning. Turns over fine but won't start now. Only previous issue was car would sometimes cut out above 3K on the tach . . . but would be fine once the motor slowed down under 3K. Just happened so I haven't had time to trouble shoot yet. I'll start by checking for spark. One thing I haven't replaced is the coil. Could a bad coil cause this? What else? Thanks! Jeff Woodard
