Folks I need a little assistance please. I did a search and could not find anything on this topic. I've got my drivers side window out - replaced the lock and have been to visit the Z Barn and got a couple great looking non scratched windows. I have already replaced the window with the bottom window bracket holder and now comes time to put the window back into the door channel - I know I need to go in reverse of the removal but I know it is a little more difficult than that. Are there any tricks and tips before I start Tuesday evening putting that window back in the door? Thanks in advance - driving season is getting closer every day!!

so my R200 differential has been making loud noises so i bought a new one on tuesday. on wednesday my bad R200 got dislocated going from neutral into 1st. this weekend my friend is going to bring his tools over to help me put in the new R200. does anyone have information about the size/metal/strength of the yoke flange bolts? they were missing when i looked at the drivetrain. my engine is an L28, my transmission is a 5 speed, and the diff is the 3.7 ratio if it helps. also any other useful tips on installing a rear differential would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 3.9 R200 diff matched with a 5 speed from an 83 280zx installed in my 70 Z, along with the white pinion gear (19 teeth). I am running the standard 14" wheels with standard size tires. I am finding that my speedo is off by about 10% on the high side and was wondering if I should change to a different pinion gear to have more accuracy. Not sure of any other way to calibrate. Any thoughts? Thanks!

ok so for the past month my 240z has had what we believed to be a bad light switch. as in the head lights would work, but nothing else (tail lights, dash lights) but the turn signal still worked fine. so today i was replacing it with a the replacement part from motorsport auto or wher ever. and right after reconnecting all the parts i checked the lights to see if they worked an yahzee they did. so as i was putting it back together i knoticed the turn signal didnt work, i just figured it didnt because it wasnt on the steering column. but it got worse, once i had everything back on with the exception of the plastic cover. the engine doesnt start, doesnt even tic or anythin…

Im sure this has been discussed before, but the threads i read are similar but not the same. I own an 83 280ZX Non Turbo GL and it has been sitting for about 4 years. I pulled it out of the shed and stripped out the interior and under the hood replaced: Spark Plugs, Spark Plug Wires, Dist Cap and Rotor, Fuel Filter, Oil Filter, Oil, Fuel Injectors, Battery Terminals and a new Red Top Optima battery. The damn car turns over just fine but wont fire. Spark Plugs are getting spark (not sure if enough, looked kinda weak) and smells like fuel on the plugs when removed. I double checked the fire sequence and even bled the air out of the Fuel Rail but no luck. It wouldn't e…

Just like the title says. I bought a Datsun 240z for $160 bucks. Car is in decent shape I guess. Complete, would be a better term. I'm also new here. You guys seem very knowlegable, so here I am, ready to absorb some of it. I will post pics also but haven't taken any yet. I have a 1978 datsun and I recently purchased the crane xr-700 and I hooked up everything and i can't not get spark. how is the 1978 datsun ignition wiring hooked up compared to the 1977 datsun. becuase i have a 77 wiring diagram and some stuff the 77 has the 78 doesn't. like i can not find the transitor resistor that is suppose to go to the coil. well please help me

I have a 240z with an L28 block swapped in, mated to a 5spd trans, I want to change the fluid but I do not know if there are different versions. on my old mitsubishi you just filled it to the fill hole and it was good, is it the same on these as well? also I read somewhere that you can fill the diff through the hole where the halfshaft mounts to the diff, is this true? thanks!

Hey my name is dan I am a mechanic by trade but have never cracked the hood on one of these I believe its a 76 280z Its been in storage for 5+ years The guy who brought it to me wants fluids changed /plugs cap and wires swapped/ And a new ecu "blackBox" spliced in guess the old one was shot Few questions does the gas tank have a drain? is there anything i should look out for as far as routine stuff? what is the sparkplug gap on these heres a pic maybe some one can fill me in on the model ect...

Ok I was having issues with the Z since I bought it with the car starting. The PO told me that the key was worn pretty badly so I had to hold it up and turn it to get the car to start (needless to say the process didn't make much difference). So anyway the car won't start now I check the wiring from the ignition, coil, dizzy, starter and battery everything is tight and wires all look fine. When I turn the key I hear the starter click (at least it sounds like it is as I'm in the car and can't be hovering over the engine bay at the same time.) I also hear a relay under the dash click too. Does anyone have any suggestions or know what this is before I take it to my loca…

My window crank/handle broke off my door. Darn the cheap plastic/fake metal! Anyway I bought a replacement window crank from ebay but, I don't know how to install it. It seems to be bolted into the door, as I imagine it has to connect to the window that way, but I'm not sure how to remove the door. If anyone can help, I would be grateful!
