My Z has a production date of 7/71. I just found a dashboard harness on Ebay that is out of a 10/70. Is this a match? Mine does have an automatic transmission and the auto seek am radio, but that shouldn't matter, right? I have 2 hrs to figure this out.

I am restoring my 72 240 and can't find a rear hatch shock/lifter. The old one has no gas left in it. I just don't want to keep using a stick of wood to hold up the hatch!! I have looked at JC Whitney, Black Dragon, Z Store and, Z Car Source of AZ. The Z store lists a deck lid support for $251.53. That sounds really high for a small gas shock to me. Does anyone know just what this part is called and where a good one can be found? Thanks Harry

I just bought a 78 280zx 2+2 and the accelerator is sticking. I can be doing 20 or 50 mph and have to pull the pedal back to slow down. It doesn't appear to the gas pedal that's sticking. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I think I have a problem. I reinstalled my head with the #1 valves closed and the crank dowel at 12 o'clock. I set the crank to TCD with the crank key at 12 o'clock. I installed the crank sprocket with the dowel in the no. 1 location hole. This set the no. 1 timing mark at about 2:30. I installed the chain with the bright link on the no. 1 timing mark on the crank sproket which positioned the second bright link at about 4 o'clock on the cam dowel. So far, so good. At that point, the right side of the chain was slack and the opposite side, with the chain tensioner was tight. With the chain still installed, I rotated the crank sightly which tightned the chain on th…

I just started to try and rebuild the engine of my '77 280Z recently and found a few interesting things. For starters, I don't have the original block. The one in there is N42 and the head is N47. Though I have been wondering what's the difference between N42 and N47 blocks and heads? Also, cylinder #2 and #6 had bad compression. When I took the pistons out(all of them) I wiped them off a bit with a rag. I heard some metal hit the floor and saw that 25-30% of the first two rings fell off of 2 and 6! I'll try to post some pictures of them soon. The other day I brought the head to UTI so I could put it in the hot tank and clean it off. Well, I found out that if a spring wo…

I know I've seen at least one thread talking about the switches where are in the series I cars at the back of the choke plate. I think it was katz who shared info on this though I'm not positive. Can anyone point me to these threads? I've searched and could not find what I was looking for so I'm hoping someone has the threads bookmarked.

I have a 75 280 and when I am coming up to a stop and I push in the clutch or throw it in neutral the idle stays at 1500 to 2000 untill I am almost stopped then it drops down to normal idle and it only does it after it warms up. I know I dont have a vaccum leak, I checked with starting fluid. I'm thinking its the valve on top of the intake manifold with the big vaccum line going to it, I don't know what its called. Any suggestions, thanks Adam
