I have a 72 240z and i got it running for the first time today(bought it two days ago) It had been sitting for about 6 months. I hear a knocking noise coming from the engine, I think it could be valves, or possibly, hopefully not, but a rod or main bearing. Maybe after sitting for so long,a hydraulic lifter collapsed. Does this engine have a hydraulic lifter? I am just afraid to run it because of the noise, but i would like to adjust the carbs. Thanks guys.

I can't seem to find out what that thing is.. It doesn't look like the front mounts I have seen. I am trying to swap a R200 3.9 into my 72 240z and I was told this is what I would need, however, where does this piece go? Thanks a lot, Elliot

Hi guys I'm new here. I recently bought my first Z, a clean 1971 240Z, but I'm having some trouble with her. I have an electrical leak somewhere and untill I could get some time to find it I installed a battery guard. Now when I started the car I heard a spark of some sort but the engine started normally. A few blocks away when I pressed the clutch the engine started redlinning so I shut it off as fast as I could. While it was still hot the engine would start but I had to keep it at full throttle. Now that the engine is cold it won't start at all, almost does but it keeps stalling. I didn't have time to do a compression check yet but it doesn't seem blown, the engine was…

Hey there everyone, Well with all the help I've gotten through this forum, I'm sure this question won't pose much of a challenge, and forgive me for not taking a pic of the wiring connections when I removed it, but...I need help on reconnecting the harness and battery to the solenoid of the starter. does anyone have a pic of the proper set-up? If not, can you tell me how the wires connect to the starter?...thanks in advance for the help. dodger

Hello guys About a week ago my radiator developed a leak. So I ended up calling up a radiator shop and ordering a radiator. They told me it was an exact replica of what I had. It came in today and I find two things different. 1. The radiator has the drain plug in the center not on the driver's side like advertised. 2. It has two outlets for the automatic transmission that came with other Z. (mine is a manual). To my amazement the radiator I bought is roughly ten pounds lighter than the one I have. It is the same size and everything. I'm wondering a number of things. Is it possible to just plug the transmission lines and stick the car in there or should I take it to a r…

I'm currently working on a '76 280z (also my first car!) and as I was removing a two bolts holding a piece onto the intake manifold, the heads of the bolts snapped right off. There is still a portion of one of the bolts left sticking up, the other is a receded within the manifold. So my question is: How can I get these bolts out of there? I know one way would be to drill the bolts out and tap the holes for new threads.. Might there possibly be another way?? Any advice is greatly appreciated! -John

My brother and I are running into a little problem in restoring a 71 240Z. The car is guzzling gas, and we seem to have tracked the issue down to this seemingly faulty part (see pics). Trouble is, we can't find this part anywhere! And we don't really know the official name, so searching for it is tough. Can anyone help identify this part, or even shed some light on where to find it? Details: it's part of the fuel system, seems to be a check valve of some sort. There are two of these in the engine, one of which works (and the car runs, but guzzles gas, presumably due to this broken thing). Thanks in advance! dave
