I haven't posted on here much, but I've been driving my '72 240Z for almost 3 years now. Until recently she didn't have any mechanical woes besides a point replacement or valve adjustment here or there. And then... I was cleaning up the engine bay, getting the last bits of crud and accumulated gunk from 40+ years, and all around just getting her looking nice (wash, wax, polish). When I went to start the car up...nothing. Turned over, but wasn't getting a spark at all. A friend and I tried to figure out what went wrong, traced back through the wiring harness to see if there was any damage or a wire that was pulled loose. The only way we could get the car to fire was to byp…

On a late 260Z, the fuel inlet and return fittings are next to each other on the front of the tank. They are the same size and one ends on each side of the baffle, but I don't know which is which. Can someone tell me which is the supply line? I'd guess this pipe on the bottom right of the photo is the return since it's fairly high off the tank bottom, but???

A year ago last weekend I installed my new stereo. A year ago next weekend I dropped off my car at the body shop. I didn't have time to hook the heater cables back up. At this point, I only have one of the little clips/clamps that hold the cable sheathings in place. I've looked everywhere.:disappoin I can't remember the exact way to hook them back up either. Most look self explanatory. A pic or two would help a lot. I've been trying to hook up the longest one with the one clip I had put somewhat back in place. But it is hard to move the vent/heater lever all the way left. I've looked at it more closely. There are slots, and screw holes in two places/ positions. …

Hi, My name's Mike and I'm new to this forum. I need help with some info on a 78 Datsun 280z. I'm looking into buying one from a nearby seller and i want to know if it is legit. The sellers asking for 3,500 dollars. I test drove it and it was making a sputtering sound in second gear(2k to 3k rpm) but ran fine once in 3rd gear. The seller said its the fuel injector that need to be replaced. I got the vin# but it doesn't have 17 digits. Is it because its an old car? Anyhow, the interior great, and the exterior is in good condition. i just need a second opinion before committing to buying it. Also I'm thinking of getting a history report of the vehicle. Is there anythin…

i am reassembling the engine after having the head reconditioned. i have put the timing chain back on but im not sure if it exactly on the right sprocket. i have tried to get the block to tdc by lining up the grove on the crank shaft so that it points up. i have done the same thing to the cam. i have heard that if the timing is off the valves can be damaged. im wondering if it matters having the chain a few teeth off perfect and if there is a way to make sure that it is perfect rather than just estimating?

I am completely stumped on this. I've already switched out float valves AND floats with the same result, taken out the last minute mesh filters, cleaned and recleaned everything to do with the floats, carb bodies, pistons, domes, etc. Watched the ztherapy video multiple times, adjusted multiple times, etc etc etc. The static float level is maybe 1/16 below the top of the jet WHEN IT IS PULLED ALL THE WAY DOWN. With the jet 2 1/2 turns out, the static fuel level is wayy down there (maybe an inch below top of the jet) PLEASE IF ANYONE HAS ENCOUNTERED THIS PROBLEM BEFORE PLEAAAAASE HELP!!! ^^^^^^ FUEL pressure^^^^^^ ( oops! ) Hi all! I know this is a forum with purist intentions, but I have a highly modified Z car with a problem that could plague any car, purist or not. Alright, so I've posted a thread or two before about the problems I had been having with my '75 Z. So about 5 months later, I've come full circle having fixed alot of nagging problems, and I've got one left to solve. My Z has an L28ET from an '82 and runs MSII, and somehow between reflashing the firmware or my alternator troubles, the tune was either corrupted or lost. So after getting retuned ( MS thought my car was running a V8....it is not ha ), the car runs beautifully. Idles as smooth …

Hey guys, I want to see if I can find out who was the original owner of my 1970 240Z (HLS3002126). I'm pretty certain it was a SoCal car from day one. And to the best of my knowledge, I am only the second owner....since 1983. If any of you have experience in this area, please throw me a bone if you will! I'll see what I can find in the archives too. Thanks, ahead of time! Tom

So I'm looking to get some rims for my 72 240z, and have two options right now. The first is a set of stock rims from a 74 260z, aluminum 4 slot, slight curb rash, and the second is a set of 14 x 7 basket weave (possibly appliance wheels) from a 72 240z, no curb rash. Don't know anything about cars, just want to get ones that fit for the right price, and look good. Thoughts? J.
