I just pick up a early white 74 260z. The owner had sold the motor with transmission, and everything else is still attach. The other day I just pick up an full swap from n/a 75 280z that came with engine harness, computer, amf, intake plus intake box. I know that almost everything from the 75 will bolt into my 260, but not unsure if the 75 harness will bolt into the 260 since it's a carburetor setup. I was talking to my friend the other day and he told me that I will need to wire the ignition wires from the 75 harness into my 260 ignition, then will need to wire up the fuel pump, then I should be able to start the car. I have search and seen many for the l28et swap, and n…

Well here is the only rust on my car i knew it was there when i bought it. I dont think this is a major issue as it has not gotten to to the frame yet. I know there could be more lurking but from what i see its not to bad. i cleaned some undercoating off and slopped some por15 on it for now to attempt to slow it down till i get to it in a few weeks. Someone put a patch on the inside already just riveted crappy work. But i am hoping it not the death of the car. I am good at welding not so good at fabbing. My thought where to template the area and have it made.

So, after addressing my charging issue, I'm moving on to my fuel pressure. I'm running a Walbro 255 inline pump that's on a Megasquirt relay with about 10ft of wire in between. Should be a pretty simple system. With 12.5V across the battery at idle (14.1 @ 2000RPM), I'm getting 11V at the pump. So I wired in a hotwire from the positive battery terminal straight to the pump and got around 12.1V at idle, which is obviously better, but really weird considering I've got a direct connection from the battery to the accessory, so it should be the battery potential (12.5V). So I decided to take grounding out of the equation by wiring another wire from the negative on the batter…

I just did a search on this topic and found some good info, but I still need some clarification. Escanlon wrote: The only place for grease on the window assemblies is on the front sash, where the nylon guide slides through, the gear / spline contact area, the swivel point for the scissor, and the two roller guides that fit in to the window pane frame guides. Other than that, no grease, oil or other lubricant other than the "fuzziness" of the gasket. I just cleaned what seemed like JB Weld from my window, guides and regulator. I know this is the remains of the grease I put in there when I re-assembled the car after a paint job. My question is, what is the best lube to…

Made 2 changes to the car this past weekend: I had the oil changed (was really low!) and fixed my heater by hooking new hoses up (the PO had blocked the hoses off coming from the engine) after one of the caps blocking off the system went all to hell... (I topped off the radiator with a 70/30 antifreeze/water mixture, warmed the car up, and topped off again) I have heat now (woohoo!), but my my engine is running a lot hotter (maybe the hoses are on backwards?!?!?!). Also, when going from driving to idling, my oil pressure drops down to *past zero*!

Won't Turn Right? 1 2

:ermm:Recently ran the car in Vintage at Laguna Seca and the thing wouldn't turn right. It just wanted to push straight off the track. This happens under light throttle application just after turning into the corner. The race before, the car was perfect. I've tried tightening everything and have found nothing wrong. Sway bars are snug. The alignment looks good too. I even tried rebuilding all four shock absorbers and the car still pushes in right hand turns. The thing is, the car turns left great. Now don't tell me to start running NASCAR, as that joke is getting very old. Has anyone seen this behavior in a Z? I've been running a Z for over 20 years and have ne…

I just installed a 5 speed in my 71'Z (May 71 Build, VIN HLS30-31988) and need to know how to modify the center console to prevent interference with the shift lever.:stupid: What I have read so far say's I need about a half inch for the necessary clearance. What's the best way to do this?

Hi, newbie here. Long story short, I own a '74 260Z that I found about 10 years ago. I had an '82 ZX engine put in it, in line 6, and it was a nice driver for a while. Brakes started to go and I parked it, thinking I'd fix it next week. Well........ Weeks turned into months, and months into years, and you know the rest. :stupid: Anyway, I thought I had someone here in town that was up to restoring it. He got it fairly fixed up, but the carburators were shot. He said it needed a new set, so I told him to simply go online and find me a pair of Webers or some aftermarket. But.........in summary, this mechanic has no real interest in restoring my Z. :disappoin Unfort…
