I just did a search on this topic and found some good info, but I still need some clarification. Escanlon wrote: The only place for grease on the window assemblies is on the front sash, where the nylon guide slides through, the gear / spline contact area, the swivel point for the scissor, and the two roller guides that fit in to the window pane frame guides. Other than that, no grease, oil or other lubricant other than the "fuzziness" of the gasket. I just cleaned what seemed like JB Weld from my window, guides and regulator. I know this is the remains of the grease I put in there when I re-assembled the car after a paint job. My question is, what is the best lube to…

Made 2 changes to the car this past weekend: I had the oil changed (was really low!) and fixed my heater by hooking new hoses up (the PO had blocked the hoses off coming from the engine) after one of the caps blocking off the system went all to hell... (I topped off the radiator with a 70/30 antifreeze/water mixture, warmed the car up, and topped off again) I have heat now (woohoo!), but my my engine is running a lot hotter (maybe the hoses are on backwards?!?!?!). Also, when going from driving to idling, my oil pressure drops down to *past zero*!

Won't Turn Right? 1 2

:ermm:Recently ran the car in Vintage at Laguna Seca and the thing wouldn't turn right. It just wanted to push straight off the track. This happens under light throttle application just after turning into the corner. The race before, the car was perfect. I've tried tightening everything and have found nothing wrong. Sway bars are snug. The alignment looks good too. I even tried rebuilding all four shock absorbers and the car still pushes in right hand turns. The thing is, the car turns left great. Now don't tell me to start running NASCAR, as that joke is getting very old. Has anyone seen this behavior in a Z? I've been running a Z for over 20 years and have ne…

Hi, newbie here. Long story short, I own a '74 260Z that I found about 10 years ago. I had an '82 ZX engine put in it, in line 6, and it was a nice driver for a while. Brakes started to go and I parked it, thinking I'd fix it next week. Well........ Weeks turned into months, and months into years, and you know the rest. :stupid: Anyway, I thought I had someone here in town that was up to restoring it. He got it fairly fixed up, but the carburators were shot. He said it needed a new set, so I told him to simply go online and find me a pair of Webers or some aftermarket. But.........in summary, this mechanic has no real interest in restoring my Z. :disappoin Unfort…

Reading straight from my 78 FSM: "To drain the cooling system remove radiator cap, release drain **** at the bottom of radiator and drain plug on side of cylinder block." Could someone please tell me exactly where this drain plug on the side of the cylinder block is? Left side/right side? Forward/rear end of the block? What does the drain plug look like? etc. Thanks for your help.

My '77 280z has just had the temp sensor to the fuel injectors replaced and this solved myMPG issue and now the car starts well whether hot or cold - except - when I travel only a short distance (ie 3 to 5 miles) and then it will not start back up. For example. I traveled from my house to the gas station (about 3 miles), turned the car off, filled up my tank, and then tried to start it up but all it would do is turn over but never catch fire. This story happened to me a couple a couple of times. Over the last year I have replaced all fuel injectors, cold-start injector, new spark plugs, new spark plug wires. I now have the car at NISSAN looking this over but they asked fo…

Hey all Just got my tank back from the radiator shop, fixed the dying problem ( they boiled, cut out the internal "strainer", and sealed); Tranny is on it's way south though; I just bought a locking gas cap from a guy on ebay. I thought it would be extra insurance since i just spent so much time and money on my tank. Got the cap, it didn't fit. Had the BMW logo on it. As some of you may know, it will fit if you grind the tabs down slightly. It wont fit at all without some modification. Well I ground it down and got it to fit, but it won't lock. I mean the key works but I can still get it off pretty easily with it "locked". Has anyone found a locking gas cap that a…

I pulled off the front and rear suspension this weekend so I can clean it up, send it in to get the bushings changed out, and replace anything that needs it. I have a set of brand new rear wheel cylinders in a box. The ones I have look ALMOST the same as the ones on there. The ones I have have a 'pointed' rubber surround and the line goes into the top. The ones that are on the car the rubber surround is 'rounded' and the lines go in the side. I included some pics. My question is, are these interchangeable? I need to replace one of mine, its all seized up and rusty. If they aren't can I make them work or change some parts from the good one?
