Reading straight from my 78 FSM: "To drain the cooling system remove radiator cap, release drain **** at the bottom of radiator and drain plug on side of cylinder block." Could someone please tell me exactly where this drain plug on the side of the cylinder block is? Left side/right side? Forward/rear end of the block? What does the drain plug look like? etc. Thanks for your help.

My '77 280z has just had the temp sensor to the fuel injectors replaced and this solved myMPG issue and now the car starts well whether hot or cold - except - when I travel only a short distance (ie 3 to 5 miles) and then it will not start back up. For example. I traveled from my house to the gas station (about 3 miles), turned the car off, filled up my tank, and then tried to start it up but all it would do is turn over but never catch fire. This story happened to me a couple a couple of times. Over the last year I have replaced all fuel injectors, cold-start injector, new spark plugs, new spark plug wires. I now have the car at NISSAN looking this over but they asked fo…

Hey all Just got my tank back from the radiator shop, fixed the dying problem ( they boiled, cut out the internal "strainer", and sealed); Tranny is on it's way south though; I just bought a locking gas cap from a guy on ebay. I thought it would be extra insurance since i just spent so much time and money on my tank. Got the cap, it didn't fit. Had the BMW logo on it. As some of you may know, it will fit if you grind the tabs down slightly. It wont fit at all without some modification. Well I ground it down and got it to fit, but it won't lock. I mean the key works but I can still get it off pretty easily with it "locked". Has anyone found a locking gas cap that a…

I pulled off the front and rear suspension this weekend so I can clean it up, send it in to get the bushings changed out, and replace anything that needs it. I have a set of brand new rear wheel cylinders in a box. The ones I have look ALMOST the same as the ones on there. The ones I have have a 'pointed' rubber surround and the line goes into the top. The ones that are on the car the rubber surround is 'rounded' and the lines go in the side. I included some pics. My question is, are these interchangeable? I need to replace one of mine, its all seized up and rusty. If they aren't can I make them work or change some parts from the good one?

My internet surfing has given me conflicting info. One site said the 240 production numbers up to 150,000,after that they wre 260's.Another said the 240's were made up to 2/73? The car we have is titled as a 240z. I'm looking for info on what this car is. Thanks, Roger

Hi, Can someone give me some measurements here.. I want to chase the thread in the block where the head bolts go but not sure what size tap I would need. Also, what size die (is that the right term) would I need to clean up the thread for the manifold bolts? And, I found this tap and die set at harbor freight (item # ITEM 39384-2VGA). Its a carbon steel tap and die set. Anyone know if these items are durable or should I get a set elsewhere? Anything else I should be careful about while I am doing this? Any advise will be appreciated. Thanks.

I've posted on other threads about my OEM radio install - I've gotten 99% of it done. Radio works, speaker connected, antenna goes up/down and even the dial is illuminated (with jump to proper fuse). Interestingly, my gauges don't appear to be illuminating. I say "appear" because the car isn't running or started. I simply have accessory on. However, my front lights go on, and the radio illiuminates. So dumb question - do the gauges only illuminate when you start? That can't be the case, but I am just checking. Note, they worked fine before I installed the radio, but I'd be shocked if I knocked something out or cut something - I didn't. And, as I noted, I CAN get th…
