My son's z has a vin number HLS30-156865 and mfg. date of 4/73. Is this car a 240z? My internet surfing has given me conflicting info. One site said the 240 production numbers up to 150,000,after that they wre 260's.Another said the 240's were made up to 2/73? The car we have is titled as a 240z. I'm looking for info on what this car is. Thanks, Roger

Not an emergency, just Not sure where to post - so If I need to post elsewhere please let me know. New to forum and need some help in getting started and some information. I have already killed a couple trees printing off forums. 1972 240(HLS30-95298) 68,000 miles sitting since 86, no body rust to speak off, outcome is to put back to original condition Engine was ( i said was) stuck, passenger side floor pan rusty(ed)(needs replaced) and spare tire well rusted(same situation as floor). Hi, Can someone give me some measurements here.. I want to chase the thread in the block where the head bolts go but not sure what size tap I would need. Also, what size die (is that the right term) would I need to clean up the thread for the manifold bolts? And, I found this tap and die set at harbor freight (item # ITEM 39384-2VGA). Its a carbon steel tap and die set. Anyone know if these items are durable or should I get a set elsewhere? Anything else I should be careful about while I am doing this? Any advise will be appreciated. Thanks.

I've posted on other threads about my OEM radio install - I've gotten 99% of it done. Radio works, speaker connected, antenna goes up/down and even the dial is illuminated (with jump to proper fuse). Interestingly, my gauges don't appear to be illuminating. I say "appear" because the car isn't running or started. I simply have accessory on. However, my front lights go on, and the radio illiuminates. So dumb question - do the gauges only illuminate when you start? That can't be the case, but I am just checking. Note, they worked fine before I installed the radio, but I'd be shocked if I knocked something out or cut something - I didn't. And, as I noted, I CAN get th…

I have a 1978 280z couple. It's been sitting for about a year, and driven very little for the last 4 years. We switched out the electronic fuel pump with a remanufactured one from BAP. Problem is I am not getting any power to it. I am not sure where to start...I'd appreciate any input, pics and whatever anyone has to offer. Thanks!! ~Liz

I need some quick opinions about sealing my gas tanks. I had to replace a hose on my 72 240Z, so I pulled the tank this weekend. The exterior was ok, but needed a repaint after 40 years to look as good as the rest of the car. I had also already pulled the tank from HLS30-00210 since it had been sitting for 15 years and wanted to check it before restarting the car. It was in similar shape. I decided to paint the exterior of both with POR-15 products, which I did yesterday and they both look great now. The interiors of the tanks looked excellent with just a few minor spots of very light surface rust. I have a can of POR-15 fuel tank sealer and thought I may as well tr…

I'm planning to pull out my L24 soon here, but the lifting lugs to pull the motor have been removed from my car. Is there another place I can attach the chains to pull the motor from? My load leveler has 4 brackets that I could possibly use the valve cover bolts, but I guess I'd rather not have the load on bolt threads. Thanks for any help, Eric

The last time I drove my car was a little after Christmas 2008 once the roads had cleared up. I had let the car sit for only about 2 weeks while the roads were completely unmanageable for this car. The last day I drove her, this is what happened: She started up just fine like she always does, I noticed she was sputtering a little bit but I contributed this to her not running for a little while and also driving her cold and not letting her warm up properly. I got roughly a mile from my house when I came to a red light. As I sat there I noticed her starting to sputter a little more. I assumed that she was having a carbon build-up so kind of revved her coming out of the…

Hi Guys,Just looking for some opinions on the proper procedure for body painting.I'm doing a complete nut and bolt restoration on a 4/73 240z.This is my plan:Walnut shell blast entire car, doors, hatch, fenders ect. Then do all rust repair, then primer. Now is where I'm not sure.Should I final paint and clear coat all inboard surfaces, and interior, then assemble complete car .Then paint the outside of car after its assembled? This is my first shot at doing a car.I've done tractors, minibikes, boats, bicycles, furniture, electric motors. Those were pretty straight forward compaired to this.Again any help is greatly appreciated,Roger
