Ok so basically I just bought a 1978 280z and I took it to a shop where they charged me 110.00 just to put new spark plugs in!!! I need my car fixed up decent to get to and from work now and then and I have money to fix it but I can't afford to get ripped off by some jerk who thinks I wouldn't realize it. So if any of you guys live in the LA/Hollywood area please let me know if I could pay you for your assistance. So you can help a young guy who just want to get by do just that. Thanks in advance. -Eli

I'm having toruble with my speedometer. I always thought that the speedometer was reading fast. After installing a GPS in my 70 Z I found out that my speedometer is way off. When the speedometer is reading 59, I am actually going 50. The tires are the correct size according to the data in the car, 175SR14's. Are there different rear gears or whole rears that can be used? The rear may have been changed by a previous owner, but I'm not sure. What can I do?

I recently brought a 240Z I've had in storage for a couple years home to start working on it. The bad news is something decided to use my Z as a toilet over the last winter, presumably mice. I have stripped and cleaned everything but the dash out and the car still smells. They seemed to be living in the tailgate area and I don't see any signs of life in the dash area, so I think the dash was not inhabited. Do I need to wipe down the entire body on the inside with bleach or something? I think all the carpets and such are destroyed by the stink. Has anyone had this happen and any solutions to rid the car of the stench would be greatly appreciated.

My name is Gary. I have a 1973 240Z I just took out of storage and brought to Florida. It runs well, has 48,000 miles on it. I had it serviced including drain the gas tank and put fresh, clean the plugs, flush the radiator and bleed the clutch. My problem is there is a strong smell of raw gasoline in the cabin. Nothing is dripping or leaking and there is no smell of gasoline outside the cabin. There is no gas smell in the carpets from shoes. The service tech said, if the gas cap is not on correctly the cabin will smell, but the cap is on correctly. Anyone have any ideas? Help……

SO I have a very regular no crank condition... It only cranks every 5th to tenth twist of the key. I have installed a good used starter... ingnition switch and made sure all of my conections are good.. So I have found in the factory service manual that my car is equiped with an ignition inturupt AKA anti-theft safty $%^&*!!!! Is there a way to bypass this pain in my A$$!!! I really do not want to install a separate starter button but will if absolutely nessessary. Another potential symptom... When I turn the key to lock the ignition turns back on and occasionally the starter cranks.... for this I simply leave my key in the ignition in the off position... we dont have …

Clutch issue 1 2

This seems fairly common on the forums, my clutch doesn't have pressure in it anymore. The general consensus is to bleed the slave cylinder to get any air out, but I don't know where it is! How do I locate my master/slave cylinder to find the bleeder valve?

I am going to be putting on all the new hoses and have a stupid question. I have removed all the old after market air from the engine bay and the hoses were cut back to the firewall. Regarding the unit in the passenger side footwell, would you remove it? I don't ever plan on installing air but wasn't sure that piece should come out, is it a pain to take out or pretty straight forward. I'm assuming I just need to plug the holes in the firewall. Thanks for any input. Randy

Well folks, thought I had my ticking sound licked with a valve adjustment. On the road trip back through Washington, the tick came back with a vengence. Something was hammering pretty hard under the valve cover and it was loud. Also noticed some excessive oil consumption. Oddly no visable leaks and no visable smoke, but there is some soot in the tailpipe. Pulled into Spokane with the 72 240Z. Found a mechanic with some experience on old Zcars. Pulled the valve cover, and I expected to see something as prominent as the noise. Nothing too obvious was there. Valves were adjusted again. Still very loud ticking. Eventually it was determined that four of the rocker arms…

Should there be a gasket between the fender and the headlight case ? I did not see one listed in MSA or Black dragon. I used 3M seam sealer between the fender and the headlight case and since it has been painted it does not look good at all. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you, Darrell 240Z

i was on the long drive back from my z car club yesterday, and my z started overheating and i didn't notice until it was too late. long story short, she'll start up but there's water in the exhaust now, and a steady leak coming from between the head and the block, right in the center. i'm hoping it's just a blown head gasket, but i may have warped the head. does it sound like anything else to yall? can i unbolt the head and look at the surface of it without removing the manifolds? if i end up needing to replace the head, what can i expect to pay for one for a '76 280? i still don't know why she overheated in the first place. i just checked my coolant a few days ago, and i…

Was hoping to fire up the engine today when it occured to me the inlet and outlet heater hoses are not on. The old one's were trashed and I simply forgot to order new one's. Does anyone know if a straight flexable generic hose from autozone, etc will work.....any idea what size? I know the correct hoses had bends in them, but if you guys think a "regular hose" with a clamp will work let me know. Thanks,
