I was trying to locate the source of an annoying imbalance in my carbs and found the problem. For reasons I do not understand, one of my nozzles was " customized " by shortening it 1/4". Does anyone have or know where I can purchase one factory spec nozzle, new or good used, for a REASONABLE price ? The carbs are in excellent shape otherwise, and appear to be original to the car. They have three screws holding down the vacuum chamber, and the float bowls have a drain plug. The entire engine is completely stock. The car itself has a late 1972 build date. Thank you in advance; Ted.

I know this really should be really simple... I have ordered the twin K&N air cleaners with air horns from msa and id like to clean up the intake manifold and such before they get here. When i go to remove the cover for the stock air filter, the two wingnut screws come loose, but then the cover just bumps into the left strut tower before it clears the air horn type things coming from the base plate of the air box, and those get in the way of me just lifting the cover and filter off. :stupid: Is there something i have missed or special technique to getting this thing off? Im sure the answer is right in front of me, but im just too blind to see it. Thanks in advance.

So a year or so ago, I was driving along, and I stomped the pedal only to watch my car go straight to idle. The little plastic piece that attaches the pedal lever to the throttle rod ended up breaking (28 year old plastic tends to be somewhat brittle) In short, does anyone know where I can find a new gas pedal? I'm currently using a shoe string tied from the throttle rod to the pedal lever. Not the most robust

Well the read window defogger is not working but I know the window is getting fire. So I got some of the replacement Defogger Repair Kits to "paint" in the spots. However I found that the spots are too great to repair this way. Does anyone know if there is a replacement "grid" anywhere or does anyone know where to get a replacement window with a working or near working grid? Thanks Tommy

Was getting bad exhaust fumes in the cab - especially with the windows down in my 77 coupe. Found that the lady who owned the car before me had her friend do some wiring, and the wiring harness dealing with the thermotime switch and related items was jerry-rigged. 3 or 4 wires twisted together, a few were not connected to anything, etc.... (remember that I am the non-mechanic guy on this board). NISSAN went through it and installed the correct harness. This reduced CO count from 4.63 to 0.16 and the NOX went from 161 to 102. Drove tonight with windows up, and down, and didn't smell a thing. My MPG is still at 16 MPG so I will have them run the tests for that on Page 42 i…

Hi Guys, I’m back with more problems. On the last episode I had finished replacing my head gasket and after a few issues (rough idle, gray smoke, etc) she started running fine. Now a few days later I’m having issues again, she’s running rough, can’t really idle on her own, gray smoke out of the tail pipe. So far I’ve checked the wires, plugs, vacuum lines and try adjusting the timing, since I don’t have a timing light I’ve simply tried moving the distributor just a little to see if it improves (I’m picking up a timing light tonight). I’ve done a lot of searches and tried what was suggested without luck. I’m not sure what else to do at this point, any s…

I have a fuel pump proplem and I have went through every thing but still can't get it working. I have no power to it and no fuel gets to my injectors even when I hot wire the pump. I have replaced the computor and fuel pump relay and went through all the steps that my manuals say to go through. I just found out that there is a accessory relay some where on the car that in its info says it controls the fuel pump. I bought it and now I can't find where the dang thing goes. I need to fix this asap if anyone knows where it is PLEASE let me know. Thhanx alot. This is a 77 datsun 280z

So I think we finally narrowed down the issues with only being able to go half throttle to the vacuum advance. I've been looking for the part everywhere, but can't seem to get any hits. I'm not sure if I'm asking for the right thing. We've been going for a Vacuum Advance Canister, and they've been looking into the distributor parts and still can't find anything. I'm wondering if anyone knows the exact part name for this, or if you may know where to get one. It's the little saucer that's attached to the distributor. When pulling off the vacuum line and sucking on the line, nothing changes with the way the motor is running. It also seems to be stuck when we pull the c…

Well I've pretty much ruled out getting the Airtex/Master pump since I've heard bad things about them. The Bosch one is 275, a little too much for me. The Delphi one is about 160, so it is a middle ground. I checked my old pump in the car and it does not appear to be a stock one, so a rebuilt one/send back core isn't possible either. Anyone used Delphi? I know they are GM's supplier for many parts (although I believe they went out of business a few years ago). The O'Reilly site lists Delphi as "actual OE part" which sounds good. I am hesitant to get the Bosch in case I have other problems (fuel tank, etc...) that would make it go out. I plan to put a new regulator i…

I purchased the water temp sensor and holder from MSA for my 72 and cannot get it to thread into place. On close inspection the leading edge of the threads on the engine are a bit messed up. I went to harbor freight to get a tap and die set, but they didnt have anything that seemed to match exactly. The closest i could find was a 16 x1.5, but the holder didnt want to thread into that. Does anyone know what the proper size should be for me to repair the threads? Thanks
