Hello all, I have a 1970 with a replaced engine. Pretty common L24/E88 combo. I have Z Therapy round tops in that have been working perfectly as far as I can tell. They are reasonably new, and have low miles on them. I have done nothing with them save minor adjustments to the fuel mix per the instructions they come with. Overall the car runs well. She starts easy, revs quickly, holds a steady idle at around 900 with out support from the idle screws. She runs and drives happily at all RPMs and throttle positions until about 4-4.5k rpms then quite savagely hits bad misfire. I have done a lot of searching on this forum and found a lot of helpful stuff. Here is a quick list …

I bought a urethane bushing set for my 78 280z. I had the old bushings pressed out at a shop. while installing, I found the mustache bar (differential carrier) bushings way large, maybe 1/4" play up and down, inside also. I spoke to the manufacturer, Prothane, only to be told the part # was correct. The other bushings appear to fit at this time. the box is labeled for my car.The fsm calls these bushings insulators. Is there a sleeve or something that may have been removed with the old bushing??

Hello all I just got a nice set of 280z tail lights off ebay, they look real good but one of the screws on the back broke in half when i was trying to get the rusted nut off of it. I think the nut was stripped and rusted on. When i unscrewed it with a ratchet it broke off. About half of the screw is left. I don't know if that is enough length when installed; How do I remove this screw and put a new one in there ? THis is the gold colored threaded stud on the back side of the lens housing. Does it just screw into the plastic (standard or reverse thread?) or is there a screw head under the plastic that I can't see? i unscrewed the flat hex washer that touches the hous…

When I bought my 75 280z it had the heater core blocked off and they hose looped back into the block. The car was his sisters and she had passed away and he didn't know what was wrong with the system. So what i'm wondering, is there anyway to know what exactly is the problem without making a mess? Should I just plug everything back up and turn it on and see where if it leaks and from where.

I found out today from my Z mechanic that both u-joints on my driveshaft need to be replaced. He said that they are 'crimpted' in, that only the '75's did this, and that it would cost about $325 to replace them. I asked if it would be better to swap the entire driveshaft with a different year model that I could replace just the u-joints in after they wear out. He said that, again, in '75 only, Datsun increased the rear flange bolt size from 8mm to 10mm and there again we're looking at machine shop work to match the '75 flange. I could swap out the differential and driveshaft for any other year, but there goes more money into it. My question now is, can a different year dr…

78 280z My lines through the wall and in and out of the heater core are hot. Fan blows cold and only from the center vent. flaps close when it is on def. but never a change in the flow from the center. The car has factory air but p.o. doesnt have a belt on compressor so I guess that went some time ago. Where do I start??
