When I bought my 75 280z it had the heater core blocked off and they hose looped back into the block. The car was his sisters and she had passed away and he didn't know what was wrong with the system. So what i'm wondering, is there anyway to know what exactly is the problem without making a mess? Should I just plug everything back up and turn it on and see where if it leaks and from where.

I found out today from my Z mechanic that both u-joints on my driveshaft need to be replaced. He said that they are 'crimpted' in, that only the '75's did this, and that it would cost about $325 to replace them. I asked if it would be better to swap the entire driveshaft with a different year model that I could replace just the u-joints in after they wear out. He said that, again, in '75 only, Datsun increased the rear flange bolt size from 8mm to 10mm and there again we're looking at machine shop work to match the '75 flange. I could swap out the differential and driveshaft for any other year, but there goes more money into it. My question now is, can a different year dr…

78 280z My lines through the wall and in and out of the heater core are hot. Fan blows cold and only from the center vent. flaps close when it is on def. but never a change in the flow from the center. The car has factory air but p.o. doesnt have a belt on compressor so I guess that went some time ago. Where do I start??

Probably a dumb question, but I have a set of aluminum wheels I am selling and want to confirm if there is any offset on them. Is there something stamped on the wheel to tell, or is there a way to measure it? Thanks!

I'm about half way through the 5-speed/4.11 R180 swap. The tranny is in, and so is the rear differential and driveshaft. Just waiting on my new rear control arm bushings to finish up. My question is about the correct tightening torque for the side flange bolt on the differential. The FSM says 13.7 - 18.8/ft. lbs. (which seems low to me, but I obviously tend to believe the FSM) and the Haynes manual, that says 50/ft. lbs. Can someone confirm the correct torque setting. BTW, I'm not sure what my R180 came out of, I bought it from a guy who'd owned it for a long time, but I assume the torque setting is the same for all R180's. Thanks as usual for the help.

Hello everyone, I went to drive my '72 240Z today for the first time in a couple weeks and I found out quite unexpectedly that the driver's door is now flying open when I make a turn to the right. If I'm careful when I make the turn it won't fly open, but whatever is supposed to latch the door is not holding it. I can shut the door and then push on it from the inside and it opens right up. I took a look at that door and compared it to the passenger door and when you rotate the round thing in there, the passenger door one will click twice and won't move unless you lift the latch. The driver's door gives a much fainter click and you can move it with your fingers without lif…

Anyone have any advice on getting the exhaust and intake manifolds off. I have read some of the other threads and they were helpful but any additional info would be appreciated. I am looking for process pics and diagrams as it is difficult for me to see what needs to be taken off. I am halfway there but stuck on the heat shield which has rusted out bolt heads so I cannot get a socket to spin them. Help please!

I am having trouble finding a partial floor pan for my 10/72 240z. The only rust in the car is in the footwell area on the passenger's side. I only need a piece to repair this localized area of rust. I'll make my own before I pay 300$ US for the whole thing. I just hope someone knows where I can find a partial. Scraping off the pan was a real good time. Thanks in advance; Ted.
