Close to finishing the restore on my Z and I find the hatch glass in mine is dead - meaning the rear defogger will not work. I have power to the window but the grid is dead. So I'm searching for a replacement. Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

Hello! I am working on a '78 280z that my grandmother is selling. Currently it will start, run, and drive just fine, but only if I take a vacuum line off and put some gas in the manifold. Otherwise it just cranks. It's a fuel injected car. Anything that will point me in the right direction will be greatly appreciated. As I said, It's Granny's car, so I'm not very familiar with it (even though I love Z's). Thanks!

For as long as I have had my car (over a year) there has never been any kind of warm air to come out of the vents. You turn on the heater/AC blower and it blows whatever air temp it is outside. After the car has been running for an eternity, the air coming out of the vents will turn about as warm as a summer breeze (not even close to warm). This being the case, I don't actually know what is preventing it from working correctly. The AC works great in the summer. Anyway, I have ruled some things out. First, I don't think it's the heater core. No liquid has ever spattered onto my windshield or onto the floor. The hoses running from the radiator to my heater core are …

I just removed the 79 ZX dizzy that I installed. I realized that the vacuum advance wasn't working right, which was limiting me to about 4,200 rpm's. The plan was just a real good cleaning and put it back together. I thought the advance would work if I just gave it a good cleaning, but....the breaker plate appears to be damaged (all of the ball bearing "carriers" are broken), and the plastic sleeve on the shaft end is broken. Does anyone sell a rebuild kit for these dizzy's? Also, the link at atlantic Z for rebuilding these seems to suggest you can get by without the ball bearings if you use lithium lube. Does that sound right?

Does anyone know how much pressure it takes to get the rear brake proportioning valve to open? I am trying to flush and clean the lines going to the rear brakes. I am using a 60cc syringe to force fluid thru but it won't go. So I'm thinking that I just cannot generate enough pressure to open the valve or its very blocked with crud. M/S is not installed as yet. Fittings on the valve are so tight I can't get them off. Mike

Rusty tank 1 2

The tank looks good externally, but I wanted to get it cleaned out, so I took it to a shop that does radiators and fuel tanks. The guy calls me today and says that it very rusty inside. He wants $400.00 to clean and seal the tank. Here's the question: should I let him do the work or should I just buy a kit like a KBS sealing kit and do it myself. The tank has no holes or external rust. Or, does anyone know of new replacement tank? Help! Mike

EDITED: Ok, I don't think that's the problem anymore. Something is wrong with my front carb I do think. When I look into it, the suction piston doesn't rise as I give it more throttle, whereas the back one does. Also, it sprays a little gas out through the inlet (choke) side. It runs the same if I take the front 3 plug wires off. What's wrong with my carb? I just rebuilt them both, and they were assembled identically to eachother.

I'm in the middle of rebuilding my carbs, and I can't figure out how to get the float pivot pin out to remove the float. There is a screw in plug on the side of the carb, and the end of the pin is under that. However, there's no way to push the pin out from the other side.

I have a 1975 280z and as i was driving down the road it just cut off. At first i thought i might have just run out of gas. It still wouldn't start after i added a couple gallons. Once i got it back to my house I checked the spark and gas. It has plenty of both but it only backfires. So the engine turns over but it will not start and it has not started since it has died. Anyone have any idea of what it could be?

My windshield is badly pitted and needs to be replaced. The windshield has a Nissan marking on it. I also have a parts car with a good windshield that has a Carlite etching on it. Does anyone know if the carlite was offered as original or has it got to be a replacement? The weatherstipping around it looks pretty old. Trying to keep the car original. Thanks for any help.
