I currently installed a triple Weber 40DCOE-151 carb conversion on my 1971-240Z (Automatic transmission). I am trying to upgrade the ignition/coil and ditributor and cannot get the answers for these three parts. I would like to use an MSD 6AL ignition with and MSD Blaster 2 coil but can't get the answer for the MSD distributor. I checked the Black Dragon parts supply and see that they have a Unilight-Mallory optical L.E.D. ignition listed but they have changed the part numbers in their catalog. When I call them, they only have counter help to take your order and cannot give me any technical information. When I called Mallory, the technical staff confirmed that their new M…

Hi, My name is Dan Wetmore. I've been a member of this site for about four years; around the time I purchased my first 240z. It was also around that time that I started a band. Back then I didn't know exactly where my life would go; Z or band? I've been very fortunate in the past few years and my band is doing things that I could have never imagined. This is very unfortunate for my Z car, however and I need to sell the poor girl. It's a well rusted 1973 240z taken pretty much all apart. It rolls on some pretty darn expensive Compomotive ML wheels, but that's about all I can offer. I really need the space that the body takes up. What should I ask for the body and w…

I have almost given up! My car has run pretty well untill about 3 weeks ago. Before that it had some serious gas issues. I let the fuel tank get to low and now it wont start. Reading up on here it looks like the problem lies within the fuel tank. So I got the fuel tank restored, Changed the fuel pump, changed some lines, changed the FPR ect ect....still nothing! what else can I try????? any help would be great! Thanks

I looked through the archives, but couldn't find the problem I'm experiencing. I've tried 3 different stock 240Z AM/FM radios (I know, I'm a pack rat) and the FM is very strong, but the AM is extremely weak, in fact only the strongest AM signal in Denver (the mighty 850 KOA) is barely there. So obliviously, it must be the antenna, but I only have one working stock antenna. the good thing is that I do have some spare stock antenna parts. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

hi, i'm new to z's and not much of a mechanic besides basic stuff, but i have a friend helping me who knows a lot more than i do. we've been working on this car for several days. the car isn't some rust bucket that's been sitting in a field for years....well kept black pearl. the previous owner kept it in a garage when he wasn't driving it. claimed he rebuilt the engine along with a lot of other work and drove it daily for two years. then it was garaged for a short time after he got a Z28. not long enough for me to think the tank is in that bad of shape, but you never can fully trust someone your buying a car from. i've been through so many forums and threads sear…

Ok So i just rebuilt my 1971 Datsun240z with all new mechanics and it runs well but everyday i go and start it it takes a while for it to start. I have to usually hold the gas pedal down to give it some gas to get going. Once it is started it runs well. What do i gotta do to get it to go at the first turn of the key?

having a hell of a time getting my turn signals to work, after about 2 hours of exploring I found no power to the flashers on the fuse panel (both sides of the fuse). so I jumped a wire from the pos on the battery to the back of the fuse panel and bingo they worked. so I follow the line from the fuse panel and I believe it connects to the ignition relay, does this sound correct? if it's a bad relay, there seems no place to buy them, the catalogs I've seen only have them for zx's:ermm:

Well I had bad connections to my Water temp sensor and my thermo time switch and my water temp switch needed replacing. I replaced the connectors, water temp sensor and water temp switch. I did not replace the thermo time switch just the connector to it. Then put the radiator fluid back in that had come out. Ok here is the problem im having... I took the Z for a drive for about 10 minutes. Got back and the radiator was over flowing! So whats going on??? Does it matter what wires you connect to what wires when you put a new connector on? It seems like something is not doing its job...:stupid:

Ok, so I have been a bad Z owners as of late. Back in the summer I was driving my car and it suddenly lost power. It just started to choke and no matter how much I hit the accelerator there was no power. It will turn over and start, but after just past idle the car just has NO go what so ever. I put the problem to the side as I had a crazy few months with work, switching jobs and now saving up for a new house and business. Today I fired up the car and shot a video of the problem so I can show everyone here and get an idea of what I might be dealing with. My best guess is a vacuum leak, possibly with the header or value cover. I would LOVE to get this sorted in the next tw…

I'm having a problem with the hard line going from the brake master cylinder to the proportioning valve on my 71 240Z. The previous owner cut the original lines and I've bought several lines that were already flared and had the end fittings. The length of the lines have been 12 inch aluminum and steel lines that I bent to try and fit. I can't seem to get the line to seal properly. I've tried several times and all eventually seep fluid. I've tried teflon tape on the end fittings ,but they still seep fluid. The you bend lines come in 12, 18 and up inch lengthes. Does anyone have any suggestions that might help?
