Ok So i just rebuilt my 1971 Datsun240z with all new mechanics and it runs well but everyday i go and start it it takes a while for it to start. I have to usually hold the gas pedal down to give it some gas to get going. Once it is started it runs well. What do i gotta do to get it to go at the first turn of the key?

having a hell of a time getting my turn signals to work, after about 2 hours of exploring I found no power to the flashers on the fuse panel (both sides of the fuse). so I jumped a wire from the pos on the battery to the back of the fuse panel and bingo they worked. so I follow the line from the fuse panel and I believe it connects to the ignition relay, does this sound correct? if it's a bad relay, there seems no place to buy them, the catalogs I've seen only have them for zx's:ermm:

Well I had bad connections to my Water temp sensor and my thermo time switch and my water temp switch needed replacing. I replaced the connectors, water temp sensor and water temp switch. I did not replace the thermo time switch just the connector to it. Then put the radiator fluid back in that had come out. Ok here is the problem im having... I took the Z for a drive for about 10 minutes. Got back and the radiator was over flowing! So whats going on??? Does it matter what wires you connect to what wires when you put a new connector on? It seems like something is not doing its job...:stupid:

Ok, so I have been a bad Z owners as of late. Back in the summer I was driving my car and it suddenly lost power. It just started to choke and no matter how much I hit the accelerator there was no power. It will turn over and start, but after just past idle the car just has NO go what so ever. I put the problem to the side as I had a crazy few months with work, switching jobs and now saving up for a new house and business. Today I fired up the car and shot a video of the problem so I can show everyone here and get an idea of what I might be dealing with. My best guess is a vacuum leak, possibly with the header or value cover. I would LOVE to get this sorted in the next tw…

I'm having a problem with the hard line going from the brake master cylinder to the proportioning valve on my 71 240Z. The previous owner cut the original lines and I've bought several lines that were already flared and had the end fittings. The length of the lines have been 12 inch aluminum and steel lines that I bent to try and fit. I can't seem to get the line to seal properly. I've tried several times and all eventually seep fluid. I've tried teflon tape on the end fittings ,but they still seep fluid. The you bend lines come in 12, 18 and up inch lengthes. Does anyone have any suggestions that might help?

Car: 1978 Datsun 280z Problem: When the brakes are slightly applied, they do not engage. After continual pushing it finally catches and nearly locks up the brakes. (Catches about half way from the floor from the original brake pedal position.) After telling my shop teacher my problem, he immediately said it was the proportioning valve that needed to be replaced; and never told me why even after I asked him. Why would this be the proportioning valves problem? It feels as if it's the front brakes that are doing this because after the brakes actually engage, the front of the car violently dips. I have inspected and cleaned the …

Heres a stupid question. ive been presented with a 260 missing all sorts of hoses and in a very questionable condition. i was wondering if i just block off most of the vaccume lines and more importantly all of the excessive fuel emission carry-on, will the carbs still operate??

There is an 80's non turbo 280ZX at my local junkyard. I am thinking of pulling the trans since it is a manual and i have an auto that doesn't feel too great, may be on its last legs... 1. Will this trans fit/work? I know its the same motor. 2. What about the driveshaft? 3. What parts exactly should I get from it; flywheel, brake pedals/clutch pedals; I read that I need the spacer and the longer bolts; 4. WIll my stock brake set up work, with the other pedal? 5. Will my ECM know the difference?? THanks

Anyone try this automatic shift knob for sale on EBAY? I was thinking of getting it to replace the worn original knob. Just wondering if it really fit all that well. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140274408157&viewitem=

When I got home from work today a great surprise was waiting for me: the original style sideview mirror for my 78 Z that I ordered. I went out, took off the Wal-Mart one that the PO put on, then found there is more to it than I thought to get it on there. It looks like I need to get behind the door panel to secure the backing plate. Is this right? If anyone has experience with this it would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure this is an extremely basic thing, but I'm new to working on my car, and I'm definitely getting better. Thanks to this forum I've changed my oil sending unit and fixed my non-working heater. Awesome. Thanks! Mike
