Hey gang, I know this is not an L6 question, but I know many of you have newer Nissans too. I need to know where cylinder #1 is located in a VG30 engine. My aunt's Infiniti I30 has a bad O2. Autozone's scan revealed O2 #2 in bank #1 is the culprit, but she lives 200 miles away, so I can't open the hood to see what the engine layout is. :stupid: Each sensor is different, so I need to tell her which one to buy. The stealer wants $500 to replace one sensor, so she might buy the part and find a local mechanic to install it.

My son and I are resurrecting a 75 280z that has been sitting for 6yrs. Now that it is running, it leans out under load. (No power and backfires). I am trying to find out what the fuel pressure is supposed to be. Can anyone help me?

:disappoin I was warned and worried about fouled/contaminated fuel so I wanted to do a lot more fuel-prep work than just drain and refill the gas tank. I pulled the gas tank, got it cleaned at a local shop who gave it a Castic acid bath for a day, got it back last week but haven't reinstalled it yet. Blew all the bad gas out of both the feed and return lines with an air compressor (the feed line between the fuel damper and the fuel filter; the return line between the fuel rail and the fuel tank). The fuel in the feed line had some black flakes in it, the fuel in the return line had a bit of thick white junk similar to a jelly but otherwise the decade old gas looked clea…

Guys, Was going to do the swap today on the 73 carbs and have ran into a snag. I have removed all the bolts, cables, hoses, etc but can't get this old unit off...any suggestions. I have never done this before so any help would be appreaciated. Also, the new setup looks like it doesn't have as many "parts" is this right for a round top setup...Thanks for any help and a big thanks to Tom for the new carbs. When I say extra parts I mean after everything is put on it will look like some pieces are not needed.....does this make sense? Randy

Well, I've been messing around with my '72 all day and after some work we actually got the engine to fire a couple times. Coolant came out of the #4 cylinder and thee was a little in the oil so the car's head gasket is probably shot but I'm trying to at least get it running and "limpable" right now. So we've verified it's getting fuel and it WAS getting spark. The last time it fired, it caught, revved up a bit, but as soon as I let off the key it died. And since then, when I've tried starting it, it does not want to fire at all. And the tach is not bouncing, which tells me that the coil is not longer firing. Also tried checking spark but pulling a plug and touching the bl…

my 78 280 cranks up good and turns over with no problem at all. but once the car warms up it dies ramdomly with warning. the easily turns on after, but the car will do this about a few more times and then will stay on.once i fill that its good i will drive it for a while but ramdomly again will die. i took it to a specilst but he told me it ws my AFM connections were corroded and causing the power to be cut. i clen it out nd it seemed better, but soon it happend again. my other option is my gas pump but how can i check it, does anyone have suggestions on what can it be and how you check the gas pump. I just put new points/condenser on my 72 240z, and now it has a funny problem. When I turn it over, it will fire up like it should, but dies immediately after I let go of the key. It seems to run fine at 1000-2000 rpm when the starter is turning, but I havn't held it for long because I don't want to ruin my starter. It's acting like it's not getting spark. My only hunch is that the ignition switch is faulty, but have never heard of one causing a problem like this. Also, I noticed that my radio and brake light stay on no matter where my key is turned (even if I take it out). This is also a new problem.

I have a 78 280z with no heat i tracked it down to the vacuum water ****. i have found that the vacuum is only sufficient to open the valve part of the way. i back tracked the vacuum lines to the Vacuum tank and cant find any leaky connections or hoses i checked my vacuum tank as well and it holds vacuum. i am not sure where to look next. any input would be very much appreciated.

Hello all, I have been searching and tuning and searching some more and I'm throwing in the towel and asking for help. I have a stock 73 240 with the exceptions of a lightened flywheel (5lbs taken off), roundtopps, a turbo oil pump, and just recently a zx dizzy upgrade. I rebuilt my l24 600 miles ago and have been tinkering with tuning carbs and ignition timing and it just doesn’t seem right. I just replaced the oil today from the 30w break-in oil to 10w-30 valvoline vr1. Compression test showed 150psi in all cylinders. Ignition timing is set to about 10.5. What is the difference between an R200 differential from a 280Z and a R200 differential from a 240SX? The one from the Z has a longer “nose� than the other. Could the guts of the diff be swapped and used with each other?

I am finding that a few things are not working well on my 75 280z and am not certain how I should go about tackling these problems. I have posted questions relating to this car before but it has reached a point where I don't know where to start. A little background: I bought the l28 engine from a chap a few months ago who had a 75 280 also. When I pulled the dipstick, the oil was black (Dirty) and smelled like the usual old oil. The plugs seemed to have the usual carbon build up. There was no smell of fuel or coolant. I put fresh oil and coolant after I installed the engine and fired it up. The #4 cylinder was not firing. Hi All, My son has a 72 240z with a L24 and dual Weber DGVs. We have been having issues with these lately. I have rebuilt these carbs and after they were rebuilt they worked great for about 3 days. When we installed them after they were rebuilt we also put on a new filter and replaced all the soft fuel lines under the hood. The fuel filter appears to be a newer one so I didn't replace that one but I did add an electric one back by the tank. What will happen is that the front carb will just stop spraying gas at random. Maybe it will run for 2 hours maybe 3 days maybe 20 minutes. On Saturday the front carb decided to quit spraying gas. The temp was maybe mid 70s. We had the…
