Hey guys, the other day I jumped in my 78 280z for a quick spin and I noticed the brake light was on. My brakes are fine and the emergency brake switch seems ok. After 15 mins of driving I heard a buzzing sound coming from under the passengers seat. There appears to be a relay there (brake warning?) I disconnected it and of course the sound went away. What would cause this and is there any remedy or does it need to be replaced?

I have a 1971 Z that has me plaguing the boards with this question and that, and to this boards credit, the amount I have learned is amazing. I recently got happy with the timing of my car in both base timing and max advance. On my test drive though the car does something particularly strange. At anything below 5500 to 6000 rpm the tach is dead steady. I mean new car steady. Very nice! However, when I rev it to this weird range the tach goes up smoothly and linearly. When it hits this band the needle swings back down to 3000 rpm and moves around strangely. The car still feels fine but acceleration seems to have slowed or leveled off. What would make it run flawl…

I am trying to order the outer hatch weatherstripping from MSA. They offer a one-piece unit, or two seperate side pieces and a top piece. Any advice on which one installs and/or actually performs its intended function better? Appreciate any help here!! Regards, Astrohog

Daydreaming a little last night while pumping gas and filled my '71 right up and into the filler neck. Haven't had the car that long and guess never pumped that much gas in before, usually just pumped $20 worth or something. I have it running well and looking good so I pumped approx. 11 gallons last night. Stopped it just short of overflowing the filler neck by the gas cap. Drivers door hinges are shot. So I have purchased two hinge pin and bush kits from my local Nissan ripoff and about to install when I noticed that the spring has gone. I'm sure it was there when it was at the body shop but no chance of finding it there now. Yes I have a parts car but I stripped the doors and chucked the hinges out. Hindsight is a wonderful thing...I know...I know. So if you have an old crapper that you don't mind losing a spring off, let me know.

i have a 1972 240z and it's got a couple problems. it was running great a while ago, but i had the carbs adjusted and it wouldn't hold idle. i also couldn't rev it up or it would die. i adjusted the carbs again thinking maybe it was flooding the engine, so i made it leaner. it runs and drives now, but i can only rev it to 3000 before it sputters, backfires, and and stays at 3000. any suggestions as to why this might be and how i could go about fixing that? -Matt

I've finished redoing my dashboard & since reinstalling it, my speedometers light is out...how can I go about checking this? It worked before...Is there an easy way to access the bulb without removing the dashboard? (because that just isnt happening) --- There is a screw securing the gauges to the dash, on the inside top; does this remove the gauges from the dash housing? Help! :surprised

I have a 1971 daily driver and it is reasonably stock with unknown miles. I run: Mallory Dual Point mechanical dist MSA Header NGK Plugs and wires MSD Coil It runs strong but I am having a problem suddenly and am stumped. It “rumbles� when the car runs and seems to lack power a bit. Normally acceleration is nice and smooth but it idles rough and “growls� when I get on the gas. Almost like its missing but not quite. I have replaced plugs, timed it, adjusted/synched carbs (SU’s), replaced wires and swapped coil. Each thing helped a little but the problem persists.

I've been restoring an early 74 260Z, and I have it almost complete. There is a show tomorrow, and I don't know if I can go now! I removed the dash to get it recovered, and when reinstalled, I now have no power. I also went ahead and bolted the battery down (requirement for show-and-go). I have power at the starter, and I have a good ground through out the frame of the car. I have no power at anything else, not even the under-hood light. What I am wondering is: a) Is there a ground for the electrical harness that I accidently disconnected? Where? Did I break a wire somewhere? c) other? Any help you can give me today will be a godsend! Thank you!

i acquired this car after the p.o. gave up on a wiring migraine. (search in electrical to see the ridiculousness) the owner before him had it running but went to work one day and came out to be unable to start it. i have fixed the wiring and i am getting fuel and spark. i can smell the fuel and know the distributor is firing when attempting to start it. the only thing is that the car has been sitting for about a year. it had a little under a half tank of gas when it was parked. i just put 5 gallons of premium in it w/ some fuel injector cleaner. it turns over but just won't start after about 30 minutes of trying. i don't know what the problem could be. it is …
