This isn't really a major emergency, although it kind of sucks when driving at night. My headlights will only work on BRIGHT mode; which can be a nuisance for other drivers; and potentially land me a ticket. Any ideas on why the low beams won't work? A switch, fuse, or even the headlights themselves perhaps? Any suggestions are much appreciated!

I have a 78 280z that I just can't seem to get running right. The car will idle just fine albeit a little rough but when I get it out on the road it seems to sputter under load. Just cruising it seems to be OK not great just OK. But when starting from a dead stop the car will sort of studder. Not sure if that makes sense but it seems like it is choking or something. The engine is just not smooth. And for this reason I can't get it smogged and overall the car is just not realiable. Can anyone help. I am just getting so frustrated with this car. I have put in a new distributor, injectors, altenator, the engine has been completely rebulit. Valves are adjusted. New …

I just got my 1975 280Z out of storage. It was sitting 10 years with 3/4 tank of gas. I put some fuel conditioner in and some octane boost. It started right up and I drove about 15 miles home. The next week I changed fuel injection hoses, water pump, heater hoses, drained gas tank and flushed premium thru gas lines, spark plugs, rotor and cap, plug wires, and fuel filter and now it wont start. I dumped gas down each cylinder and it fired up until that gas burned out. I swapped out the fuel injectors with another set(from an old spare motor) so I dont think its the injectors. Why isnt gas going thru the injectors? Or are all my injectors bad. The ones from the spare motor …

My nephew just gave me a 1971 240 he didn't want to mess with. He drove it to the house one year ago and it has not turned over since. What should I do before trying to start. The battery is charged.

I told my buddy that I'd help him move out of his apartment. Any way long story short, we've been toying around the idea about renting a rental trailler to tow behind my zed to make the move easier. ended up asking a local fab shop and he said he thinks he might be able to fab up some kind of hitch to the bumper for $ 125 bucks. B4 i do this, how much weight can this car tow? I'll need to know in order to estimate which trailer i should rent. i'd like to get as big of trailer as i can so i can cut down on the trips. thank you.

1974 260z I have a clutch that is about 4 years old or so. 110k original miles on the engine For some time I have noticed some problems with the shifting however today was the worst, some times when i would take long drives, 3-4 hours on the interstate shifting would seem difficult once getting off the highway. Usually when I am at a dead stop and shift into reverse, it will range from smooth shift, to some grinding, to having to shut the car off to get it into reverse. In the last week or so I have noticed when i start the car in first or reverse with the clutch pedal all the way down, it will creep forward or back on level ground. Today when i went for a short drive I w…

Hello All, I just bought my first z today. A 1974 260z 2+2. I used to work on them for my uncle, mainly R & R, so I am not totally unfamiliar with the car, only certain parts of it. My question concerns the large plastic bottle which if I am correct is the vacuum tank for the heat/ac controls. I noticed some oil was sprayed up on my hood after I ran the car for approximatley 200 mile today getting it from it's old home to it's new one with me. I started looking at wherethe oil like substance came from and it looked like it may have come from the vacuum tank. I know that may sound wierd, but there is some black fluid in there. one of the fittings is loose and c…

Something strange happened with my Z today, and in 30 years of driving I have never experienced anything like it. I hope someone else has some idea, or I may have to rebuild the entire driveline. I was driving around this afternoon, and suddenly the car would not go faster than some fixed speed, which seemed to be about 60MPH. I first noticed it in 3rd gear. I was accelerating briskly, and when it got to about 60 in 3rd the engine bogged down like it was in the wrong gear! That isn't the problem because it was somewhere around 3500 to 4000 RPM, and the engine pulls strong in that range. I pulled off of the 4 lane road, and turned around and tried several other times. Each…

A few weeks ago I posted about my vapor lock issue and mentioned the choke problem as well, any other thoughts on the choke....the vapor lock hasn't been an issue, but of course the temps are back down in the 80's again but this stupid choke is driving me crazy. It's a stock 1971 240Z with no mods. When first starting the car I pull the choke all the way back and the car starts right up, no issues. After driving for awhile everytime I push the choke in the car starts "bucking" and "sputtering" pull back on the choke and it runs just fine. Of course with the choke pulled back, everytime I come to a stop or slow down the engine idle is pretty high, but I can't push in the …

I've got a '76 260z with (I'm assuming) the stock carbs fitted. My problem is that the engine varies it's idle speed during normal driving. Example: Stop at one set of lights and it idles at 750rpm, next intersection it might idle at below 500 and the next it might go above 1000! Checked the accelerator linkage and throttles on both carburettors for sticking but all seems to be fine. I'm assuming it's a problem with my carburettors, not sure. I've tuned them but it didn't help. Can anyone please give some advice? Cheers.

i drove my car around yesterday and it ran perfectly fine with no problems. i tried driving it today and for some reason it had very little power. whenever i would try to floor the pedal for more power, it would do the opposite and decrease in power, it almost feels like its going to stall. when i floor it in neutral its smooth, but doesnt go past 3000 and starts to struggle. i dont know what it could be, maybe fuel related? its weird because it ran so good yesterday:disappoin

Well apparently it stopped working after the previous owner replaced the clutch. I finally looked into it today and the cable’s not turning at all. It appears to be in the trans. Idk why its not turning. Can I get instructions on reseating it into the trans?
