I have broken off my bleeder valve, and now need to get a "new" rear cylinder for my 280Z. I have a pic below from the manual that looks just like what I need. I'll get an actual pic later tonite. Napa got me the wrong part, and say the right part can't be ordered. Any people out there that did the conversion to disc brakes that has the cylinder in their parts bin? I'd love to buy it from you. Alternatively any suggestions what can be done, or a store I can order it from? thanks

Finally got my triple Dellorto's and extractors bolted up to my 240. After some initial problems getting it started, 4 blocked pump jets and fouled plugs it finally fired up but immediately jumps to 4000 rpm idle. The butterflies are fully closed and the idle mixture screws are fully in. I cannot figure out where it is getting all the fuel and air from with the throttle basically closed. Has anyone else experienced this problem? The carbs were disassembled and professionally cleaned and new gaskets, o-rings etc installed during re-assembly. Have I put something back incorrectly? The carbs are DHLA 40G's Warren

I just changed the oil pan gasket. I painted the engine block, and engine compartment while I was at it. I now have a big gear oil spot under the car. It looks like its coming from between the dust cover and the front of tranny. I'm going to assume it's the front oil seal in the tranny. Now for the big question, how hard is it to change once the tranny is dropped?

Ok, so my boyfriend acquired a retired gt-2 class 1977 280z racecar. We are trying to get it ready to drive on the street for the spring and that means sorting through all of the work the previous owners had done. It looks like the car was thrown together for racing in a weekend. We have figured out much of the car and what needs to be in there for the street and what we can take out. If anyone wants to know more about the car let me know...its loud as heck and in decent condition. The problem we are having is with the lights. We put in headlights just to see if we are getting power and to see if everything works. We have been working on this car for 6 days now and…

I have a May '71 240z with a very cracked windshield. I have searched and haven't found anything on the site for help. What Z year windshields work on an early '71? Can I replace with a 280Z, i have to believe these would be easier to come by used...especially in Wisconsin where the pickins are slim on early Z's. I can buy a new one local but it contains the tint strip on the top...want to stay stock if possible. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks MidLifeCrisiZ

I have an 82 280ZX, that I am putting a Monza exhaust system on. The system comes with an extra pipe to install if you want to remove the convertor. My question is, what will that affect in my car, will I need to do anything else, such as adjust timing, idle, etc?? This is and will remain a stock car besides this pipes (unlike my 240). The state I live in has no emission test so that is not an issue. Should I remove or just keep it on??????????? Thanks for any input. Tom

My son drove the '76Z last night and he ran out of gas, so he thought. Basically the engine just died, no real sputtering. He gets gas, tries to start it, and although the electrical pump is running, the engine wont crank. They try jumping it - nada. I get home late last night, take a look at everything, and the observe the same. Thinking it's the battery, charge it overnite. This morning, pump goes, no crank. Thinking it's the starter, take one from parts car and install this evening - nothing, not even the pump, no lights, nothing. Fusible links ohm out ok, except one brown, don't remember which one, is intermiitent depending on wire bend position. Battery cables t…

My 1975 EFI 280z is having trouble running past 3000 RPM's it will rev up then almost no power. You can floor it and nothing is going on. It all started after I filled up at a gas station and then BAM, it's power died about 2 miles down the road. I don't think it's bad gas as it was a good gas station. The only thing I can think is that I gave it diesel instead of gas, but that was on my mind when I filled up and I made sure to grab the gas pump ... any idea's on the problem. Also, it will start fine when cold, but when the engine warms up it has trouble kicking over. If it helps I can make a small video of the problem to post along with this. Any ideas out there on where…

Ok .. lets get this out of the way. :nervous:I reversed my cables on a jump of a 1983 280zx turbo i was picking up. Ive found a 'donor' car that ive replaced my fused unit next to the battery( the one in the little box with three plugs), engine turned but no start. tried too many times, battery died. ok, lets see what else i can ruin. replaced the battery, replaced all 6 plugs, and then the engine just made a 'thunk' sound when i tried to start it. so, i went to the donor and got the starter thinking that was now the problem. R and R the starter, turned the key and.... thunk. Spoke to a mechanic and he thought the engine might have siezed by fluids backed up due to the nu…

OK, I'm an idiot.....I'm starting to put all the exterior lights, bumpers, etc back on the car and I cant remember if the front marker lights go with the raised end toward the front of the car or face toward the rear. Are both the same, or does one markers raised edge go toward the front and the other side go towards the back? does this even make sense. I tried looking for some pictures but can't zoom in enough to tell. Thanks, Randy
