I'm doing a clutch on my '85 Turbo and I can't get the exhaust pipe disconnected from the turbo. I've taken off the 3 bolts holding the triangle shaped retaining collar but the pipe won't budge! I've tried jacking it up, pulling side-to-side and spraying it with PB Blaster. It looks like someone else had the same problem, They left the flange in and welded a pipe back on an inch or so below it. I may have to cut it off. Any other ideas? Thanks

Hello Everyone I bought a 280z a few months back and now im working on the engine... I have been working on cars for a few years now but i mainly do suspension work and i dont have much experience with building engines or modifying them, also this is the first car i have ever attempted to restore. Right now i have the engine fairly taken apart, the only thing assembled is the block with head, intake and exhaust manifolds. So i was thinking this would be a good time to put in some headers and exhaust, i have done some research and also ive looked around the net for some headers, and i do need some that have the inputs for emmision controls. In other words getting to th…

Hey guys... so I've been having a weird issue with my '76 ... A couple of weeks ago I was driving around and all of a sudden the little red 'chg' light on the far right of the voltmeter clicked on (and so did the brake light on the speedo).... it was night, I had my lights on, and my stereo, but nothing else. No big deal though, I limp home (it starts raining, I flip on the wipers which are HELLA slow at this point), car never dies, go back out the next day, start her up, still get the CHG light with no load whatsoever. At this point I'm a little suspiscious, so I pop the hood and start digging around... I clean up the connectors off the alternator, I clean up my groundpo…

Hey guys hoping someone can help me out here. I live in Las Vegas, and recently bought myself a 77 280z. This is my toy, that I am restoring. However, I'd still like to have it registered, as it will be a work in progress. I went to get it smogged, and it failed miserably. CO ~10% 2.5% is max HC ~1200 500 is max Pretty bad.. I think its because its running extremely rich. There is definately a gas smell coming from the exhaust. Also the gas mileage definately seems really bad, about as bad as my 90 mustang gt. Anyone have any idea what I could do to fix it? I checked the EGR valve and I think its faulty, so I'll be replacing that. Could this be the sole cause? …

Ok I've read some threads about brakes and was thinking my master cylinder was going bad but after more searching and being under the car (found more rust:disappoin) I noticed that fluid looked liked it was leaking in that area and the caliper is stuck. It was sticking on and off and the car pulled to the passenger side but now the pedal goes to the floor. The driver side wheel has caked brake dust all over that i smacked off so im almost 100% sure the caliper is the problem. I checked ebay and found this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Brake-Caliper-Nissan-240Z-260Z-280ZX-70-78-Front-Left_W0QQitemZ200206326593QQcmdZViewItem but for some reason it looks like its missing so…

77 280Z While letting her warm up tonight, I turned on the headlights and it died. It didn't stumble then die, it died as though I had turned off the switch. Now the headlights will not come on and the ignition is dead. when I turn the key to "on" no beep, no fuel guage, no ignition? Engine turns over fine. I checked the fuses in the fuse box on the passenger side of the car. the fusible links look good too, unless you can't visably see the problem with them. (Not even sure what they control yet. Only had this car two weeks) Is there another fuse block somewhere on this car? It has to be a fuse that controls the ignition and headlights? the parking lights still work fine …

There is a Classic Fiberglass Spoiler for sale for $60.00-primer and paint ready, no damages... I was planning on putting the BRE spoiler on my s30 but on a budget right now, but I came across this one... it looks decent and I've seen very nice s30's with it on, but not very popular like the BRE... :bandit: Any advice? BTW, MSA Retails it for $170.00.... I need to let the Seller know by tonight... Thanks in advance!

My 71 is experiencing strange things with the clutch/tranny. Everything was OK a few years back when I replaced the tranny due to popping out of second on deceleration. All was well till a few months ago when it started grinding going into reverse. Thought it was the slave cylinder, which did have a leak, so I replaced that. Problem went away for a short time, so I kept adjusting the slave rod to cure it. Figured that I didn't have enough travel on the fork. Still no joy, so I got a new master cylinder. Again, OK for a short time. It gets worse the longer the car sits idle. Could the fingers on my pressure plate be going bad? Just yesterday, I couldn't even get it into f…

I have a 240Z build date 12/70 and I have what I think is the series 1 z-car rear end vibration. To date I have replaced all bushings, struts, and u-joints (including half shaft u-joints). I have heard that later 240Z's had there rear differentials moved back 2 inches and the driveshaft lengthened or shortened (can't remember) to curb this problem. Is there a kit or mod that can be done to stop this horrible vibration. Between 65 and 70mph I get a solid rumble in the rear. Thanks, Colin

I put a new cold air intake on my 280 and now it seems like the idle is set to low or something. So here is my question... Do I have to adjust the idle to the larger amount of air now entering the motor or is there another problem im going to have to deal with??? Let me know what you think...

I have become the owner of a '71 240 Z, that is in bad shape. I have cleared the engine compartment, and have found a wire bundle that has been on fire. Does anyone out there know where I can get a full wiring harness or a diagram of the harness? Thanks.

Well I believe this is my first real post on here so If I botch it up to bad take it easy on me. When I bought the car (77 280z) it had a blown head gasket but still had compression. I took the head off to find that it was pretty warped and deffinatly could use a valve job. I sent it off to the machine shop where they put all new valves in and shaved the head. So now I have the head back and decided to put a new timing chain in while im in their. I put the new head on, set the number one cyl to tdc on the compression stroke. Then sat the head on it torqued it down to spec installed the cam sproket on the number 1 dowl hole. Then put the lighter colored chain link on the …
