I just installed the Pertronix unit in my '72 Z and the car runs light years better than it did with the points. The strange thing is that if I let the car idle, it will just up and quit after a couple minutes all on it's own. Then if I try to restart it, it will not start until I pull the distributor cap off, and then put it back on again. Then it starts right up. It runs fine as I drive and hasn't quit yet while driving...just when stopped for a light and while talking to someone while the car idled. I don't see anything wrong with the cap, and as far as I can tell the Pertronix unit is installed correctly. I'm pretty baffled so if anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear…

Hello, I have fuly restored stock 240Z, but I cannot level my at correct original height. I have stock 240Z springs (35 years old) in front, with new shocks, and 1 turn-cut 280Z spring with new bushings in back. My back always sugs by 1/2 to 3/4 inch) and R&L are not even. I want to get Euro Competition coils or NOS stock coils. But thoese are imposible to find. Should I install Eibach springs with 280Z Insulator in back? or Eibach for 280Z? I just bought set of 240Z new insulators F&R from Motorsports, just in case I find new stock springs.....Please advise! Jay

Ok... Trying to hit two topics on one post. Is there a diffirence between the harmonic balancer on an AC equiped car versus a non AC car. And... I have a little valve tap goin on when the car warms up.... Is that normal. I have heard others with the same noise. I come from the world of american made iron and am not used to the Z cars yet. Just learning the ins and outs.

Greetings all. I tried to search for answers in the forums here- without a clear enough answer. I promise to read the "How to Restore Your Z" book, but for now I just noticed a broken fitting on the engine, as well as noting the apparent lack of several vacuum hoses, and I'm freaked that I might be damaging something by driving it- it is my EDD now, so I really could use some advice from that huge well of experience that all of you people possess. It's a 2/71 vintage, HLS30-23788, under 70K miles, and always garage stored- totally dry and clean- for most of the past 15 years. California car with almost NO rust and totally clean floorboards! It's all stock except for the…

Well, It started off I was just going to remove all the PO undercoating on my Drivers side front wheel area and as I was removing this gunk my scrapper went clean through. I finished removing all the crap and found where the previous repair was made. It looks like after the repair the PO just put all this coating over it to protect it from the elements, but it looks like all he did was trap it in. It's not huge but has me concerned and I am no body expert or structural expert, so with that being said can I just have a patch welded in or does it need another approach. Thanks for any suggestions. Randy

Some of you might have saw my last thread regarding gauge faces. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30554 Since I have the dash out of the car, I want to replace the bulbs. Yes Ive been hit with the WIAT. (See Search function if you don't understand this) Is their any after marker lights available? I know MSA sales a kit, but i was thinking a green or a blue color glow would be cool with the white gauges. Your thoughts? Thanks Bill

I removed a Grant steering wheel a previous owner put on and reinstalled the original steering wheel. The Grant ring with the 2 pins that face the turn signal assembly had a "top" indicator on it. I tried to line up the 2 pins on the original wheel like the Grant ring was positioned. The turn signals work correctly, but the horn doesn't work. When I turn the wheel all the way from side to side, the horn will sound in a couple of different positions, but will not work by pressing the horn pad. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks. (I tried searching the forums but couldn't find this exact problem and solution)
