Hello I need a diagram of a 73 240 coil and dizzy hook up. I just tried to put the petronix electronic ignition on and when i tried to start it i fried it. so i'm back to single points am not 100 percent sure if i hooked it up right. the car runs and drives but i'm just not sure. timing mark jumps from 13 to 10 every once in a while, and takes about 2 minutes of cranking to start when cold outside, which in turn makes my battery go dead. also does the voltage regulator have to have anything inbetween it and the inner engine bay like plastic or rubber. is anybody in the roseburg oregon area work on z's. I know we have some parts dealers but nobody seems willing to help…

Hey guys just want to see if I am on the right track here. I have a 76 280Z So here is my problem I got my car running for the year now. New plugs wires cap oil coolant so on and so forth. I had it running yesterday after getting the car in time 10 degrees. then I adjusted the AFM so the car was getting the right air fuel ratio. Now my coolant overflow tank started to squirt out of the top and the coolant was only luke warm. Temp gague was around 200. So my question being is I should change the thermostat and the radaitor cap and go from there right? Oh and hope that it isnt the head gasket...

I'm within 2 weeks of having to finalize on a paint color for my 1972 240z. The original color was the yellow (lime). I want to stay with a factory original color but not that one. I'm leaning toward the 1971 yellow but haven't seen any full size pictures of that color on a car. I've seen one yellow that's pretty dark and another one that's much lighter. Don't know which one is original. Any good pics you can share? PS, I've owned this one since 1978. Thanks in advance for any help.

OK, now that I have tackled the vacuum leaks and gotten the heater and various air vents working, when I put the selector to A/C the compressor does not turn on. I have the FSM and there are a lot of tests that can be run. I was wondering if any A/C guru's out there might have a logical series of most likely things to check. I have not owned the car for even two weeks yet but my assumption is that it's a stock A/C system in my 77 280z. If all of the R12 has leaked out, do the compressors have a built in safety to keep them from running dry? It's gonna get hot here soon, so I need to jump on this one.. Thanks!

On the highway, and my electronic dash begins to cut in and out. The car dies. Then, sparks and smoke fly from the hood scoop. I pull over and pop the hood and rush outside. I pull the hood up, and the positive battery cable connection, and part of the positive post on the battery, are melted like a pancake on top of the battery. I couldnt figure it out. Then, I notice the hood of the car. There is a dime size hole burnt out of it.....and it just happens to line up with the melted positive battery post. Then I remember that when I bought the car, it was missing the platform and the metal pieces that hold the battery in place. The battery must have slid and touched the hoo…

Hi all, I'm new to Z's but not cars. I have a 78 280Z that some bone head put a 10000 RPM tach in and rigged the wiring around the coil. I put the right tack in and I need to fix the wiring now, but I think some wires are gone. I need a good pic of what should be there, It's a non turbo EFI motor. Any help would be appreciated Robert

Hey as i am all alone and simple have no time to do it all by myself. I'm asking if there are any Z enthousiasts living nearby or in the Netherlands who can help me with the bodywork. Maybe somewhere in Juli or whatever the time. It's a terrible heck of a work. And i think if i do it alone it will be a 5 year project :stupid: I have to admit i'm not the best sheetworker there is i'm more mechanic, but i can do with it. And it would be ashame if i ruin the 240z. All the tools and welding equipement are here..and i'm willing to do something back in advance. I just started with the engine now, this is almost rebuild and fresh paint just need some gaskets to order.
