On the highway, and my electronic dash begins to cut in and out. The car dies. Then, sparks and smoke fly from the hood scoop. I pull over and pop the hood and rush outside. I pull the hood up, and the positive battery cable connection, and part of the positive post on the battery, are melted like a pancake on top of the battery. I couldnt figure it out. Then, I notice the hood of the car. There is a dime size hole burnt out of it.....and it just happens to line up with the melted positive battery post. Then I remember that when I bought the car, it was missing the platform and the metal pieces that hold the battery in place. The battery must have slid and touched the hoo…

Hi all, I'm new to Z's but not cars. I have a 78 280Z that some bone head put a 10000 RPM tach in and rigged the wiring around the coil. I put the right tack in and I need to fix the wiring now, but I think some wires are gone. I need a good pic of what should be there, It's a non turbo EFI motor. Any help would be appreciated Robert

Hey as i am all alone and simple have no time to do it all by myself. I'm asking if there are any Z enthousiasts living nearby or in the Netherlands who can help me with the bodywork. Maybe somewhere in Juli or whatever the time. It's a terrible heck of a work. And i think if i do it alone it will be a 5 year project :stupid: I have to admit i'm not the best sheetworker there is i'm more mechanic, but i can do with it. And it would be ashame if i ruin the 240z. All the tools and welding equipement are here..and i'm willing to do something back in advance. I just started with the engine now, this is almost rebuild and fresh paint just need some gaskets to order.

I have a 1983 280zx non turbo. It has an in line fuel pump. Two days ago, I started the car, and it went out (the fuel pump). As I was driving down the road, the car started sputtering, and it would die if I gave it gas. Eventually it stopped running. When I would try to start it, there was no noise coming from the fuel pump, and the car would idle really low (4 or 500 rpm) for a few seconds, then die. I replaced the fuel pump. I can hear the fuel pump now, and when I started the car it ran great for a few minutes, then I turned it off. I replaced the fuel filter, and I started the car again. First it started idleing low again, and now it wont start at all. What should I …

I have a 1973 240Z and the #2 cylinder is not firing. I have checked the spark plug and the spark plug wire and they seem to be okay. I am concerned that I may not be getting enough spark. What should I try next? Thanks, KayceeZ

I know that I keep on posting these things but im totally stressed out over this whole heater deal. I got the car a week ago and its already under the weather. So my question is do i need the vacume heater control valve or can i just put a manuel valve on that opens and closes with the cable? Or should I just fork out the 120 bucks and buy a new vaccum control valve. Wel let me know what you guys think???

Well after cleaning the fuel pipes/lines out, replacing the spark plugs, and replacing the fuel filter my car died on me on my way home from school. I was in 3rd gear then all of a sudden it started bucking like crazy and then It wouldn't let me shift the gears. When I coasted for a little I was able to shift but the idle was horrible so I went to 1st gear and it chugged at 1K rpm which I kept it at until it died on the side of the road. (the car is F/I 83zx l28e) I waited a few minutes and tried to start it but i was only able to keep it rolling in first gear as it sputtered dead. I didn't see any crazy smoke while this was happening either it was just all of a sudden. A…
