Hi there everyone this is my first post as i have been able to find all of the answers to questions i have had on other posts. This forum has been a real life saver. One to my issue. I have a 78 280z and i just bought it to do a restore on it, it has been sitting for about 5 years, was not prepared correctly for storage and i am now replacing hose after hose and part after part. I have done full tune and brakes and a few other things and the idle has just been getting more and more stable until yesterday morning. I went outside to warm the car up and it would start but wouldn't hold idle and would die shortly after starting. When i did finally get it started (after i …

I feel stupid for this, I really do. I'm putting my 4spd back in my '72 today. I can't get the transmission back on. I've done this before, I know it's not rocket science. I've put on a new clutch, using an alignment tool. When I put the transmission back, I can't get it to lock back into place against the block. I'm about a half inch back all of the way around. The mounting bracket holes on the transmission are, you guessed it, a half inch back from where they should be. The standard bolts I'm using to try & bolt it to the block are just touch too short & they just touch the block when fed through the bell housing & the metal plate. Could I have don…

I searched and found reference to the 2000 issue of Sport Z magazine where the use of aftermarket hoses from McMaster Carr was detailed. Does anyone have a copy of that article or a parts list so I can get the stuff? Thanks

I drove to the gas station this morning to get some gas, car was almost empty, and got some gas. After I got the gas, my car wont' start. It didn't seem to want to turn over. I didn't know what was going on, so I went and got some fuel injector cleaner, put it into the tank, and it started up. Well I went and worked for a few hours and decided to go home. Stopped to deposit a check and the car won't start again. it still doesn't want to turn over. So what I am wondering is... do you think it could be bad gas? I know very little about cars, I mean, I am working on learning, but I don't know what this is. Could anyone help me out?

I have a '79zx workhorse. With over 300,000 miles on it and I'm beginning to wonder how much longer I can depend on it for long trips. I can haul my fly rods, gear and a pontoon boat and get 28 to 30 MGP. None of the newer cars can match the cargo space and mileage. I've heard rumors of a factory reconditioning service. Is there any substance to that?

Hey folks, Got an L28 in the car with SUs, just had it dialed in yesterday by a Z specialty shop. I'm having severe difficulty in getting the car fired now, one in every 15 tries does the car fire, if that. When it's cold outside, I don't have a problem, but if the weather's warm, or if I just shut it down a little while ago it doesn't want to fire at all. All I get is a little catching, the occasional lighting of a cylinder. A shot of ether doesn't seem to help, either. I've definitely got spark. Not certain it's vapor lock. Never had a problem with it before. I'm desperate because I've got to report into to my AF unit Monday morning at 7 AM. The shop where I got …

I have a 72 240 Z with 60K miles. It appears the rear oil seal on the rear extension housing of the transmission is leaking. The propshaft is throwing oil onto either side of the underneath of the car. I looked at the service manual I have, but it doesn't give a lot of detail as to how to replace the seal. It appears it can be replaced by dropping the propshaft and "prying" off what appears to be a cap and replacing the seal. If anyone has done this and has more detailed instructions, please help me out. Thanks.

I'm trying to replace the front seal on my 5-speed and I've taken the 5 transmission front cover bolts off but the darn cover will not budge. I looked in the FSM and it should come off after removing the bolts, but no dice. I've tried heating it up a bit and prying every which-way I can, but still nothing. It's hard to get in to get a good pry-point because it's inside the bell housing. Any help? Thanks

About 1.5 years ago I had the passenger door window replaced by a glass company. From the time I got the car back, the window "hitched" at about the halfway point when being rolled up. One needed to push on the window in order to get it up. The company said something about a part being worn out. Since this window doesn't get rolled down often, it didn't really present a problem. A few days ago, a passenger rolled the window down all the way and when he tried rolling it back up, nothing happened; the handle cranked but no glass came up. I pulled the door panel off and discovered that the window had fallen off both bottom channels of the regular as well as the front sash a…

So I went out to run some errands, backed out of the driveway, then noticed that I couldn't shift into 1st. I got it back in the driveway and it turns out I can't shift into anything other than reverse. Hoping it's something simple and not that I need a new clutch. What do y'all think?
