I've just replaced my Brake Booster and Master Cylinder. The push rod is adjusted to 9mm past the aluminum (not aluminium) spacer. I bench bled the Master Cylinder with with a vacuum bleeder (mityvac) but when I try to bleed the rears I get nothing just an air tight vacuum - according to the pressure gauge on the mityvac and the sound when the hose is removed from the bleeder screw. (Yes, I loosened the newly teflon wrapped bleeder screws.) So I tried using the tube into a jar while pressing on the brake pedal - nothing. I placed the jar and hose on the Master Cylinder rear bleeder screw (furthest from the firewall) and pressed the brake pedal - nothing again. I p…

SU Help 72 240Z 1 2

The SU carbs were rebuilt by ZTherapy two years ago. No problems until one week ago. 240Z L24 Engine idles very rough/ragged. It smoothes out at higher rpm, but there is a definite surge at times at high speed. Here is what I have done so far: • Replaced all ignition parts using Nissan parts. • Set points • Set timing per factory specs. • Set mixture and balanced the carbs. The new ignition parts and timing did not improve the rough idle. After balancing the carbs the engine still idles very ragged. If I lift the piston on the front carb the engine RPMs drop slightly and then the rpm recovers. If I lift the piston in the rear carb the rpm drops and stays low …

This morning my clutch started to feel funny. All of a sudden there was not much resistance and it had some trouble shifting. I pulled over and the fluid in the master was fine, although a dark brown (is this the correct color or should it be drained?). I am able to shift through the gears just fine with the clutch but it just had little resistance. This has happened once before but it almost immediately went back to normal. Also when the engine is off I can cycle through the gears with no clutch. Any ideas? Thanks

Hey everybody, new Z-owner and first time poster here. One of the first questions I have is about the fuel pump. When I turn the key on, it starts making the usual fuel pump noise....but it doesn't stop. And if I do something like work the turn signals, it pulses in time with the flasher. Time for a new fuel pump, or is that normal? Thanks in advance. Bear with me, because I just bought her a week ago and I'm still learning about Zs.

Hi all I have a June 1973 240Z with an F54 L28 & Mikuni 44 PHH carbs. It's had an E12-80 electronic distributor & MSD Blaster2 coil for 4~5 years now & has always run like a champ. On Friday evening it randomly died on me at a stop light in town. Wouldn't start up again. I pushed it to the side. Made sure it had fuel + spark + E12-80 wiring was nice and tight. After an hour of fidgeting she fired up again but with some hesitation at low revs. I managed to struggle home and parked it out in front. I just spent all afternoon on it and it still won't start! _I had new-ish NGK BP6ES R plugs - but pulled those out and swapped in brand new ones gapped to 0.85mm _New…

I have a 78 280z and since I have started restoring it (in the process), rebuilt engine and all .... my tachometer has not worked. Actually I do not remember if it was working when I had parked it 10 years ago. Before I look for a new tach ... where does it connect too in the engine side? So that I can check all connectors to make sure they are not corroded. I did pull it out from the front dash to make sure all connections were good. The needle itself did not move as freely as the speedometer. Is it supposed to? Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.:stupid:
