I have a 1974 260Z that I converted to a V8 I also put a R200 rear end in it. I am now hearing a noise in the rear. Seems when it is pulling I do not hear a noise however, when I let up on it I hear a grinding noise of some kind. Could this be in the u-joints.

My 76 Datsun 280z was running fine. I was driving out of the parking lot and I heard an odd clicking sound...then it stalled. It is getting fuel when cranked(i can smell it). I checked and the coil is sparking to the distributor. I can not see spark getting out of the plug wires, and when cranking the distributor the point moves about 1/2" and then stops turning. Should the distributor be spinning a full 360 degrees when cranking? The cap is new, and the point looks new also. Also the battery is charged, jumping didnt help. Alternator is new also.

How long does it take to get my order? I purchased the S30 Microfiche on CDROM on 1/2/08 and have not seen it as of 1/15/08. Is the club slow to get merchandise in the mail or is the mail at fault? Leeboat (Titus_RacerX at HybridZ):stupid:

What is that light that cycles through and then either goes green with "OK" or all red? That light on my '79 280zx is ALL RED. I am having some issues with a few gauges not working, is there a "brain" in this car? Maybe I could swap the one from my '81 zx if there is one since it will cycle through and say "ok" in green?? Hello All. AKA STAYZ75Z. 1975 280 Z, timing chain tensioner replaced. started right up when I got the firing order right. TDC was off 20 degs. Which isn't bad for being the first time I have taken an engine apart by myself. She ran rough for a short time then she died. Now there is no spark, the rotor isn't turning. What to do now? I need some help from all of you. My friend Marvin wants to help me but I still remember how the last Z car turned out after he worked on it. My husband Michael used to call him "Half-assed Marvin". im about to buy my 280zx....what should i look out for. there are a coupe of dodgy tings but my auto elec mate can sort that out. the engine isnt stock, cause its not a carbi...its a skyline engine i think (an old one) its go brown kinda flaky $^!# on it.... what should i be looking out for, the interior/exterior looks great, engine sunds good...but i dont wanna split a head gasget or sum $^!# and be carless..... please help....

Hey All, i was driving today and car died, coasted to parking lot checked and had no gas in either fuel filters, pump sounded as its normal whinny self but no go juice, my question is do i need new electric fuel pump and do i need to drop tank and replace the fuel suction part thingy dont know what its called, have the manual for dropping tank need to replace over flow hoses found out hard way with premium email me at chicago240z@yahoo.com if you can help need to fix tomm. or next day dailey driver

The car is running but it is much louder then normal, and I believe it is running on 2 cylinders. What I have done: Detached the belt to the smog air pump (left it off) covered the air going into each carb seperately, the front one is not sucking in any air. pulled wires to the spark plugs one by one, the front 2 cylinders didnt make much of a difference. tried an electronic fuel pump, I think it pumped too much gas into the engine. Basicaly I think the car is not getting the right fuel and air mixture. Should I rebuild the carbs? I am driving out to look at a 76 280z this weekend, the car supposedly runs and the tranny is good too which is manual. However it needs new tires and brake pads, but other then that it is suppose to be in good condition. What should I be looking for when I inspect this car? I can't exactly drive it without brakes so I am looking for any advice some of the experts here can give me. Thanks in advance.

When driving the speed shown on the speedometer is very different then actual road speed. When i go about 40 it says 60. when im going 70 it says about 100 or 105. I,ve checked the cable and it doesn't seem to be damaged. I checked the gears in the speedometer and the are slightly damaged, but i don't know if that would cause it to read high. Can anyone help?

hi I have a 74 datsun 260Z and have had some problems with my 260Z's gas tank, the problem is that it has really bad surface rust on the inside almost like a sandy dust that comes out and goes into the fuel filter before the fuel pump in the rear, and keeps clogging it, have had the tank acid soaked and then coated 2 times by the same guy. dont know if hes doing his job right but was wondering if anyone new of any place where you can order the stock gas tank, have searched the internet many times looking for one and can not find one, want a new one not a used one, because dont want the same problem, or if anyone knows of a place to send a gas tank to get done, please open…
