Hey All, i was driving today and car died, coasted to parking lot checked and had no gas in either fuel filters, pump sounded as its normal whinny self but no go juice, my question is do i need new electric fuel pump and do i need to drop tank and replace the fuel suction part thingy dont know what its called, have the manual for dropping tank need to replace over flow hoses found out hard way with premium email me at chicago240z@yahoo.com if you can help need to fix tomm. or next day dailey driver

The car is running but it is much louder then normal, and I believe it is running on 2 cylinders. What I have done: Detached the belt to the smog air pump (left it off) covered the air going into each carb seperately, the front one is not sucking in any air. pulled wires to the spark plugs one by one, the front 2 cylinders didnt make much of a difference. tried an electronic fuel pump, I think it pumped too much gas into the engine. Basicaly I think the car is not getting the right fuel and air mixture. Should I rebuild the carbs? I am driving out to look at a 76 280z this weekend, the car supposedly runs and the tranny is good too which is manual. However it needs new tires and brake pads, but other then that it is suppose to be in good condition. What should I be looking for when I inspect this car? I can't exactly drive it without brakes so I am looking for any advice some of the experts here can give me. Thanks in advance.

When driving the speed shown on the speedometer is very different then actual road speed. When i go about 40 it says 60. when im going 70 it says about 100 or 105. I,ve checked the cable and it doesn't seem to be damaged. I checked the gears in the speedometer and the are slightly damaged, but i don't know if that would cause it to read high. Can anyone help?

hi I have a 74 datsun 260Z and have had some problems with my 260Z's gas tank, the problem is that it has really bad surface rust on the inside almost like a sandy dust that comes out and goes into the fuel filter before the fuel pump in the rear, and keeps clogging it, have had the tank acid soaked and then coated 2 times by the same guy. dont know if hes doing his job right but was wondering if anyone new of any place where you can order the stock gas tank, have searched the internet many times looking for one and can not find one, want a new one not a used one, because dont want the same problem, or if anyone knows of a place to send a gas tank to get done, please open…

Thinking of tackling the replacement of the heater core as well.... I so far have removed the middle console and fan, it looks pretty tight under there. Any quick tip of getting to it?

Ive got a problem... My L28 in my 240z is way off on timing.. The marks on the crank pulley have faded and i dont have the slightest idea on where it could be.. Now if im right, you can set it to TDC on #1 and mark it at 0 right?? Thanks for any info

Hey, I know this is probably not a easy question to answer. But I was just wondering what the approx. street value of the Various Datsun Z cars were. I've been pricing a couple ranging from $6000-$8000. I'm looking for a 100% rust free car. the mechanical and electrical issues dont really bother me alot, perferably nothing major, but I can deal with that more so then rust. Also I guess i should add that I'm looking for a car to use as a daily driver, I would prefer 240/260, but have not ruled out the 280z yet since i dont know enough about it. thanks for any help.

i have a 1972 240z with a stock l24 engine. today i went outside, started my car, and then when i felt that it was running rough, i checked under the hood. what i saw was that my distributor cap wasn't clipped on for whatever reason, so i decided that a good solution to that problem would be to clip it on. well, as soon as i pressed down on the distributor cap, the car died.. now the car won't start, and it backfires, which is has never done before. i bought this car to restore, and teach myself about how cars work, so i don't have all the tools i need for everything, i am saving up for a timing light, because my car's timing was off, but i am still a novice at this.. is …
