Does anyone know if 240,260,280 radio knobs are interchangeable? I have a 280 clarion radio and missing the black knob (have the chrome piece). Does anyone have 2 black knobs or know where to get replacements? Can’t seem to find them anywhere.

My late 1971 240Z has a vented hood. I have an opportunity to swap someone for a non-vented hood. In your opinion, should I swap? I like the idea of keeping things original when I can, but there may be advantages (cosmetic or mechanical) to keeping the 280Z hood.

I took no pictures and for the life of me I can't remember what goes in the "hose" section of this isolator clamp. Please help! And please ignore my poorly plated fuel lines!

Hi guys, As I'm assuming for many of us, the foam in the passenger seat cushion is in better shape than that of the driver's side. I've done a bunch of research and the jury seems to be split on if the seat cushions can be swapped between the two seats. Has anyone tried/had any luck in swapping them? -chase

After I installed a new clutch on my L28 w 5 speed I have some noise that I can only assume is the throwout bearing. Could be wrong though. When the clutch is pushed in theres no noise but when the clutch is out and trans in N there is a noise from the clutch area. Any thoughts? I know about the throwout bearing collars being diff sizes but I think I have the correct one. Could I have misaligned the clutch installing it?

Hi everyone, I'm new here and relatively new to the Datsun world. I acquired my '70 240Z last year and have been fiddling with it just a little bit to learn more about it. Last month, the pulley on the smog pump started squealing quite loud so I took the belt off. I don't really see the need to replace it, so I'd like to take the rest of the associated plumbing and spare parts off of it. I've searched for days on various forums trying to get as much information as I can on how to remove all of this and I've seen so many different do's and don'ts that I end up getting more confused. The reason I'm doing this is purely aesthetic. I know I probably won't gain anything out of…

I'm working on putting my 1978 280z back together and I found a random wire and have no clue where it goes. Posting it here might be a longshot due to the lack of information I have but I thought i'd try. There is a white w/ black stripe wire coming out of the harness that runs under the ignition coil on the drivers side. In the middle of that wire is a bullet connector that transitions the white/black to an all black wire. Then it appears to be torn off of something. I cant find any "white blacks" in the schematics and the only clue I have is that it is a live wire- It sparks when I ground it. Like I said, its in the general vicinity of my ignition coil. Thought it might…

So, I am doing my struts on my 240z. and noticed different part numbers on the strut towers of the two different cars I have here. Was there a different strut tower used in the 240z line? I know the ball joints are different on the early cars. Is there a reference of what the part numbers are for the strut towers? I have two different numbers for the passenger side 54302-E4151 54302-E4150, Is it just a superseded number? Thanks Bob

Hi, I'm new to this site. I'm very impressed with the knowledge on this site. My question is about the rear window defroster on a EARLY '71 240. This car does not have a defroster relay. Does the rear window defroster wires get a full 12v? Is it resisted down and if it is what is the voltage at the wires? 7tooZ has supplied me with great information and thought I should ask the members. I just have this one question left so I can finish this job. Thanks Ed

Hello everyone, i recently brought home my 260z( on a trailer) and am ready to try and get her running again. Car has sat for 10 years and has the original flat tops with everything else stock. The plan is to do the following: order a pair of SU’s from z therapy, new plugs and wires, battery etc. I was planning on keeping the existing balance tube as I’m not concerned with how things will look, but would like to know if this will function the same as a 240 tube if things are plugged up properly? Also z therapy offers a conversion plate that would allow me to use the 260 air cleaner and I wonder if anyone has had luck with this. If anyone has suggestions/recommen…

Hi, Everyone/anyone, Am trying to overhaul my dizzy from a 1970 240z. Presently, am trying to separate the two contact point baseplates from each other. My Haynes manual says to remove the securing screws to separate them. Yet, there are no securing screws (visible) that keep the plates attached to each other. Is there something I'm missing here, or do I just have a "screw loose"? Would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks, Mike

Hello my name is Jaime and I just got a 74’ 260z that I’ve been working on. The car is for the most part stock except for the exhaust and carbs (dual Weber’s 32/36). I’ve had the same issue with the car since I bought it and don’t really know where to look anymore. The car does not seem to have any power when trying to accelerate rapidly and sounds like it’s bogging going up hill or when the engine has any load. The car also has a slight hesitation on takeoff. The car idles well and can get up in rpms when in neutral but on the road in gear is a different story especial in fourth gear. I’ve rebuilt the carbs, replace both fuel pumps, cleaned the gas filters, installed a f…
