I'm no mechanic but tonight on the way home my lights started getting very dim and the car was hesitating, almost "missing" if that makes sense. By the time I got home I barely had enough headlight light to see 5 feet in front of me. I was thinking the alternator is bad, but I'm no mechanic. Also why would the car run so bad if the battery was failing..... Any thoughts?

I took the 71 out this evening to get a better feel for the car( I just got her two days ago) and just a few miles from home I applied the brakes and it was almost nothing....After changing my underwear I checked the fluid and the front reservoir was full but the back reservoir was empty. I know that I should have checked this prior since it is an unfamiliar car, but I didn't and earlier drives the brakes seemed a little soft, but worked fine. Anyway I filled up the reservoir but the brake pedal is still spongy. My question is if the reservoir went empty do the lines need to be bled? Would there be another reason for spongy brake pedal besides bleeding? Thanks in advanc…

I have a 75 280 w/ AC well there was AC anyways pumps been removed. Does any one know if there is anything vacum related that will stop my heater valve from opening? It was working but the valve itself was sticky so I moved it back and forth at few times with my fingers now NO HEAT. I think lever stripped on the valve but not sure.

As almost all of you know Z's are notorious for having problems running if the gas tank hasn't been re-lined. I had mine done at a local radiator shop, lining is black material that they said would never come off. Car ran great after having this done up until about 2 weeks ago. Roughly 8 months. However, son has replaced the fuel filter twice so far and says it's still sputtering and dying. I haven't looked at it yet but does it sound like I have trash in the tank again?? Any help would be appreciated.....thx

I changed my oil yesterday and over-tightened the drain plug, it now just turns in either direction. Luckily, no oil leaks. I'm guessing I stripped the threads in the oil pan. Any suggestions on removal? I'm hoping I don't have to replace the whole pan.

One would think there must be a fairly good market for a company to make gas tanks for these cars. A year ago when I first bought my '73 240z I looked everywhere on the net for a new aftermarket tank. I saw very many different tanks for many classic models, '34 fords, 55 T-birds, vettes,,you name it, the tanks are out there. At very reasonable prices also. It seemed like most were a little over $100 to $150. Yet we are spending around $300 to have it refurbished by a professional at a radiator shop. Geez, you would think some fabricating shop would catch on and start making them. Why let a professional boil it, acid wash it, rinse it, line it, seal test it, paint i…

I know it's probably a stupid question, but I just got a 1978 280z coupe and I'm not entirely sure if I should remove the front headlamp shell to change the headlamp. I already have the new lamps to put in and I can't drive the car until I put the lamps in because I drive at night. Also, I bought a lamp with replaceable H4 bulbs with blue city lights on the bottom. Do I need to change the harness, or will it still be okay? I heard the wires melt if the bulb is not a regular sealed beamed or a halogen. Thanks to anyone who can help. I need to change my lights today! I've owned a Z before, but it was a 300zx and the light assembly was different. DeMoore

I just got a 77 280z and its in great shape other than the fact that it doesn't run. It has many many new parts and only 112k miles. it will crank and stay on for a minute or two and then just sputter out and slowly die, as if its running out of gas. fuel injectors look new, I put a new fuel pump in and still the same problem. the last owner said it might be the fuel injector relay...replaced and still the same thing. would it be something as small as a inline fuel filter or something bigger? any suggestions would help alot. Thanks

Hello all, I need a rear left hand bumper off a 240z to complete my rebuild. The one off my car must be off a 260z as the angles are out by about 10 degrees which results in the tip of the bumper being 40mm from the guard. We only found it after test fitting after extensive panel repairs. The panels measure up as per the factory spec. It needs to have the holes for securing the rubber strip to. Many thanks guys and gals. James
