I originally posted this under "electrical", but it belongs here. I need help. This may sound dumb, but I notice that when I turn the elliptical adjusting screw to set the point gap, the whole point set will sometimes move. When that happens, a spring near the vacuum advance pops the lever up. When that lever is in the down position, I get no spark through the distributor, but I can't seem to get the dwell angle or the gap right when the lever is down. My shop manual is mum on this. What's happening??

Hey all, i have a quick question. I have just installed the replacement heater valve in my 280Z and I just need to know how much pressure the little thing is subject to. I have a pressure tester so I can make sure it doesnt leak, but I don't know how high i should pressureize it to. I searched around and saw something like 25lbs in one thread, but Id like a straight up answer if possible. Thanks to you all.

Hello everyone I need some help. I have just rebuilt a mates L28 out of his 280sx. The engine was pulled out 3 weeks ago, bottom end rebuilt and head reco'd. The inlet and all other peripherals were left alone. Its all back together now and it wont start. I have checked the timing (With No 1 at tdc with cyl one cam lobes facing up have set the dizzy and the rotor button is facing no1 I have fuel pressure I have spark I have injector pulse..... however after cranking it over for ages the spark plugs dont look wet. It seems that my Z can not settle on a normal idle. Sometimes it backfires through the carbs - other times it afterfires at the exhaust. There doesn't seem to be any minor adjustments - it either one or the other. The PO had dual webers, I changed to SU's (3 screw). I have done the following: 1) installed 3 screw su's - using a rebuild kit from Ztherapy. I have taken them apart and reinstalled so many times...thinking about using wing nuts instead of bolts. 2) I have adjusted the valves - they are dead on - so don't think the problem is with the valves. 3) I installed an E80-12 dizzy and coil (removed ballast resistor). I'm confused about replacing the weather stripping around the hatch on my '73 240Z. I see kits with three pieces, but they look like they go around the top of the hatch and down the sides. My present weather stripping is falling apart at the locking mechanism and I'm sure that is the source of fumes in the cabin. There is also weather stripping in the channel that is a couple of inches higher and also goes around the hatch, but not at the bottom. This one needs to be changed as well. What do I need to replace both of these weather stripping pieces? Do you glue them in place? Source? Also, I do not have any tire tools, jack, etc. Does anyone have a source to purchase tire …

i ran my car ('72 240z..im in the middle of restoring it) for a bit today, but when i turned it off, the engine kept running for about 20 more seconds. i did everything like i normally do, turn the key all the way to off/lock, turned off the fuel pump, and closed the choke, but it's never done this before. can anyone tell me what's wrong?

My temp sensor shows the hot a little past the middle to about the right corner of the M, Is this normal or should it be right in the middle. I recently installed a new therm stat sensor.

Bro's '71 240Z ran fine the last time he drove it 5 months ago. Now won't start. Sat curbside undriven too long and battery bites. He's tried starting with an external battery, made noise like it wanted to start but didn't. A few years back when this happened, replacing the battery and spark plugs did the trick. He then also replaced the spark plugs, but still no go. The auto store that sold him the spark plugs said they're not the same as the previous ones, but were better. Any ideas?
