Hi re building and pretty much going off of the geocities z car garage http://datsunzgarage.com/ and it says that main bearings should be factory, but called the dealer and they want 140$... said there were only 15 sets in the US, what would be a good substitute to factory? Also what happened to that Z show @ summit in ohio, last year I missed it by an hour because I couldn't figure out when it was this year I havent seen anything.

well i've been cleaning my car a bit, trying to get it running right. i don't think number 3 is getting any fuel. pull the plug and it appears to not be getting fuel. pull off the injector wire, nothin changes, pull off the plug wire, nothin changes. number 1 had the same problem, but it turned out the actual injector wire was corroded, fixed it by cleaning it. but number 3 i cleaned as well, no change. I drove it around my complex a bit and it started clearing, but once i parked and let it idle a bit, it sounded rough again. I'll be the fuel rail is gunked up or soemthin. it does have a bit of trouble reving if you try smashing the throttle, but give it a bit less and it…

Hello all, I need a rear left hand bumper off a 240z to complete my rebuild. The one off my car must be off a 260z as the angles are out by about 10 degrees which results in the tip of the bumper being 40mm from the guard. We only found it after test fitting after extensive panel repairs. The panels measure up as per the factory spec. It needs to have the holes for securing the rubber strip to. I just got the rotors replaced on my 280 ZX 2+2 non-turbo, and on the way home from the shop, she started making some bad noises, and I pulled over and called Advanced Auto, who said it may be my power steering fluid. I immeditely went there and filled her up. She still made part of the noise (I guess it was part power steering fluid problems) and I asked them what it could be. They said it was my water pump and that I should flush my cooling system and see if it helps. I know Z cars have problems with their water pumps, so I was expecting it. Hey guys. This problem just started about 2 days ago where when my engine is warm if i stop at a light or stopsign my car will idle rougher than normal than when i accelerate softly my car wil backfire until it gets to about 2000 rpm and it will just accelerate normally. I havent done anything except put gas in my car and wash it for the last month so i dont see anything that would have made this start happening. Btw my car is a basically stick 75 280Z. Thanks, Jason

I originally posted this under "electrical", but it belongs here. I need help. This may sound dumb, but I notice that when I turn the elliptical adjusting screw to set the point gap, the whole point set will sometimes move. When that happens, a spring near the vacuum advance pops the lever up. When that lever is in the down position, I get no spark through the distributor, but I can't seem to get the dwell angle or the gap right when the lever is down. My shop manual is mum on this. What's happening??

Hey all, i have a quick question. I have just installed the replacement heater valve in my 280Z and I just need to know how much pressure the little thing is subject to. I have a pressure tester so I can make sure it doesnt leak, but I don't know how high i should pressureize it to. I searched around and saw something like 25lbs in one thread, but Id like a straight up answer if possible. Thanks to you all.

Hello everyone I need some help. I have just rebuilt a mates L28 out of his 280sx. The engine was pulled out 3 weeks ago, bottom end rebuilt and head reco'd. The inlet and all other peripherals were left alone. Its all back together now and it wont start. I have checked the timing (With No 1 at tdc with cyl one cam lobes facing up have set the dizzy and the rotor button is facing no1 I have fuel pressure I have spark I have injector pulse..... however after cranking it over for ages the spark plugs dont look wet. It seems that my Z can not settle on a normal idle. Sometimes it backfires through the carbs - other times it afterfires at the exhaust. There doesn't seem to be any minor adjustments - it either one or the other. The PO had dual webers, I changed to SU's (3 screw). I have done the following: 1) installed 3 screw su's - using a rebuild kit from Ztherapy. I have taken them apart and reinstalled so many times...thinking about using wing nuts instead of bolts. 2) I have adjusted the valves - they are dead on - so don't think the problem is with the valves. 3) I installed an E80-12 dizzy and coil (removed ballast resistor).
