I'm confused about replacing the weather stripping around the hatch on my '73 240Z. I see kits with three pieces, but they look like they go around the top of the hatch and down the sides. My present weather stripping is falling apart at the locking mechanism and I'm sure that is the source of fumes in the cabin. There is also weather stripping in the channel that is a couple of inches higher and also goes around the hatch, but not at the bottom. This one needs to be changed as well. What do I need to replace both of these weather stripping pieces? Do you glue them in place? Source? Also, I do not have any tire tools, jack, etc. Does anyone have a source to purchase tire …

i ran my car ('72 240z..im in the middle of restoring it) for a bit today, but when i turned it off, the engine kept running for about 20 more seconds. i did everything like i normally do, turn the key all the way to off/lock, turned off the fuel pump, and closed the choke, but it's never done this before. can anyone tell me what's wrong?

My temp sensor shows the hot a little past the middle to about the right corner of the M, Is this normal or should it be right in the middle. I recently installed a new therm stat sensor.

Bro's '71 240Z ran fine the last time he drove it 5 months ago. Now won't start. Sat curbside undriven too long and battery bites. He's tried starting with an external battery, made noise like it wanted to start but didn't. A few years back when this happened, replacing the battery and spark plugs did the trick. He then also replaced the spark plugs, but still no go. The auto store that sold him the spark plugs said they're not the same as the previous ones, but were better. Any ideas? 73 240z w/ l28 okay so my battery blew like a week ago due to a bad voltage regulator so i changed the battery and changed the voltage regulator and now it doesnt wanna start at all i bought a new coil new spark plugs and i got so tired dealing with points i got an electric dizzy but it has a e12 93 ignition module but i heard it will still work but not as good as the e12 80 so onward, so i installed this i check for spark and i get a nice blue spark from the coil and then i check the spark plugs to see if i get spark and i do and i crank it and it doesnt wanna start so i spray starting fluid in the crabs and nothing i really dont know what the problem is i hope its not a…

Well, I just took the 73 on a very short drive and when I was about half way home the car started to sputter, it got worse the more you feed it gas, but you could come off the pedal and rev it in neutral. I put it back in gear and started down the street and again it sputtered and you could notice that it had a loss of power as well....... I am no mechanic so any feedback would be appreaciated. Could it be: Fuel filter spark plugs bad gas or something more serious... Thanks, Mally

I just picked up a 70 240 a few weeks ago. It smokes a little at idle but looks like cheech and chong in the car when it's reved. It has the smell of oil, not gas. What I've done so far- I took the carbs apart and cleaned them and put them back together. It was running rich by looking at my plugs, which were replaced. Carbs were synced. I checked compression and it's 140 across all 6. So it's not the rings. It runs GREAT but just smokes. The only thing I can think of is valve seals or maybe a readjustment of the carbs? If it's the seals, can they be replaced with the head on the car? The car is in very good condition for a driver, but if I go tearing things apart I mig…

I have a Nisondenso compressor from a Honda that I would like to use on my 72 240z. It fits where the smog pump mounts but must be mounted upside down so the fittings face away from the motor. Does anyone know if this compressor can be operated upside down without ruining the unit? Bob M
