Hi all, First time posting on this forum. I'm the 4th owner of HLS30-02675. Currently, I'm stuck on the struts. There's this gland packing on the top of the strut assembly. The manuals call for special tool ST35500000. From what I can see, this tool is basically a large hex head wrench but my gland packing is round with two notches lined up on a diameter. Any tricks on getting this sucker off? Another special tool perhaps? Thanks Bill Kingston, WA

i recently bought a '78 280z for 500 bucks it wasn't running when i got it the guy i bought it from told me it had been sitting for about 4 years and the motor was rebuilt about a year before that. anyways it wasn't getting any fuel to the motor. i found the fuel line was rusted solid and the lines going in and out the tank were clogged i ran a new line replaced the fuel filter and pump and dropped the tank, blew the tank lines out with air and she runs.... i drove it around the block a couple of times the last few weeks but the first time i drove it for more than about 10 minutes it was running fine and then it suddenly died, i tried to restart it and it ran for about 10…

i changed the timing components on my 78. everything was exactly like the book said. tdc #1 piston all that stuff. afterwards i replaced the crankshaft pulley and put it to tdc on #1 piston. now the bright link is on the other side of the sprocket, not on the side where its supposed to be. and now it runs even worse. im baffled. does any of this make sence? im still scratching my head. any help would be apreciated. thanks

Ok, I just installed the new radiator and I have mounted the electric fan from Black dragon. The fan has two wires...Blue and Black, black is negative. To test the fan I ran the wires to the battery and it started blowing air...Yea...I think. Not to sound stupid, but where do I go from here? The instructions say nothing. If I run the wires direct into the battery it will be on all the time. I'm sure I'm missing something simple, but how the heck do I wire this thing. I want it to run when the key is on right.... Any help would be appreaciated. Randy

Help - I am replacing my springs and struts all around, I am working on the rears. I took the old springs out w/o removing the spindle pin, i just dropped them down as was recommended. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26144&highlight=rear+strut This worked great - My problem is in putting it all back together. I can't seem to get the halfshaft plates with 4 bolts lined up on the rear wheel assembly before I put the rear strut up into the wheel well. Every time I get the strut up to attach it with the 3 interior nuts - the halfshaft plates are too long to fit on the assembly. Is this just a matter of more hands and more wiggling or what ? do th…

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement defrost lamp and wire harness. My lamp is broken. Don't know if I did that putting in a new engine or if it was that way when I got the car several months ago. None of the searches in the local junk yards come up with anything. This is what it looks like Thanks

I just purchased a 73Z in fairly good condition. I have already enjoyed getting several interior features to work again. I have 2 keys, one that says Nissan Motor on it and one is a copy. Neither key unlocks/locks the 4 locks that the owners manual tells me it should. (the original owners manual was in the glove box) I understand that Nissan can cut a new key if you have a key code. I've looked all over the car and can't find what appears to be a key code. Do any of you know where to find the key code? Does Nissan have a VIN database that could give me this information? Thanks.

I have a stock '72 & I need some help securing the metal fuel lines & brake lines to the firewall & engine bay. First, is there anywhere to buy new/reproduction rubber mounts that secure the lines in the brackets? The ones I have that didn't break, aren't very pliable. I have them in the car, but not seated & tightened down in the rubber mounts & brackets. I was wondering if there was a particular order in the the lines must go in the rubber seating that goes to the frame rail & firewall. It seems like it can be really easy to get them twisted & have them not fit right. I've spent quite a bit of time looking through the photo gallery to no …

I encountered this problem last week. I was driving home from work. Stopped to pick something up from the store, very briefly. When I got back into my car, it would not start. Lights worked (were not dim), gauges worked and everything, but car would not even turn over. I heard a clicking noise from the passenger side of the dash. After a few minutes of checking things out it started right up. Have had this happen twice since then. Same scenario. The last time this happened, I also notice my cd player was not working. And not my gauges; battery volts gauge, clock/ timer and my oil pressure gauge are not working regularly. Some times the volt gauge will be …
