hi I was considering to do my first rebuild, but I was checking into prices on having it done by a shop, someone told me they had head work done at Solaks Automotive Specialties in mantua and they weren't bad, does any body have any recommended shops in northeast Ohio?? (or anywhere close to that) thanks Roger

Since Last Week I Keep Hearing A Clicking Sound From The Engine Bay When I Step On The Gas. I Asked Someone Who Is A Mechanic And At First He Said It Could Be The Exhaust Header Or A Bad Spark Connection, But After A Search Through The Engine He Is 100% Sure It's The Header Because There Is A Crack On The Header Where The Bolt Is Located. I Have Never Heard A Clicking Sound Coming Out Of A Crack Header Before. Could It Be The Exhaust Header? On 73 240z If I Want To Take The Exhaust Header Off, Do I Have To Take The Intake Manifold And The Carbs Off First? I Have Never Done This Before, What Do I Need To Know In Advance For Nothing Having Too Many Problems At The End For …

Well, a couple of my lug nuts were screwed, so I got a couple new ones, and the new ones stripped the threads on the studs. I've got the brake cover and shoes off, but I dunno how to get the studs out. Just bang on them? Enlighten me. What a crappy thing to happen on a holiday weekend...

i was just cruising about 50 or so and all of a sudden a clickng started in the back end soo i turned around and went home jacked it up and spun the tires and the clicking contiued so i thought maybe it might be a bearing and i checked the oil in it ,..and it was fine....soo i was wondering what you guys may think,..oh and when im in neutral and slow down the clicking slows down soo i thought a pinion bearing, but when im in a gear and i let off the gas it sounds like a grinding sound ..soo i dont know if it was gears grinding ,...soo....what do you guys think????

I've got a '76 280z. My car has been sleeping for four years until I bought her and woke her up. Now she ran great when I bought her (three days ago) but I've been driving her. Mainly showing her off to all my friends and family. Well I notice the car ran increasingly rough. First I noticed just a little loss of horse power. Then she started to hesitate when accelerating. Now she's running like garbage and sounds terrible. The engine bay smells bad of gasoline and the milage is horrible. I've even stopped driving it. What it seems like to me is that the car is getting way too much fuel. I haven't yet tried that little trick of pulling the vacuum line off the fpr but that'…

Hey guys &gals. I just built a motor about 600 miles ago,The motor ran great. But i used this motor in my race car so i am sure that had a lot to do w/it. The motor is an l28e. It will turn 8000 rpm,s very quickly, I know it broke the piston today. BUT WHAT I DONT KNOW IS HOW. Acouple of weeks ago the #3 piston hit the spark plug and closed the gap. I put a new one in it and there was a little bit of a rattle an then it cleared up with no problems. (I did check the cyl. for trash and there was none) well today it started again but this time it was #6. I changed the plug and ran it up the road and it ran fine. but when i got off of it, sure enough it done it againbut t…

We just got a '73 240 on friday. First 240, have a few 300's along with some other rides so we are getting to know this one. I've always wanted one, and this one should be a good project. It's had a lot of work done to it in the past 4 or so years, hasn't been on the road in those years. It has the three weber carb setup, a mallory distributer and electronic ignition, header, new shocks, u-joints a five speed transmission ( from ??) and a bunch of other stuff. Needs some body work, paint is pealing off, but overall, in pretty good shape. Anyway, we tried to start it, checked the plugs, getting spark, cleaned out the fuel system, opened the tops of the carbs to check/clea…

Does anyone know the metric screw size for the Parking Lamp/ Turn Signal Lense screws? There are 6 of them in each of the front lower lense housings. My screw gauge is a poor one for small fine thread screws---I.E. Chinese made :tapemouth Near as I can tell from trying they would be M3.5 and there are 3 different lengths depending on which of the lense studs they are to go into. 15.5 mm 17.5 mm 24.5 mm Has anyone ( Will, Escanlon, Beandip, Dave ) sourced these in stainless steel or brass as was mentioned in a previous thread about problematic original parts that could be improved? My previous ones were very rusted and from 4 housing/lense assemblies I could only ge…

I have a 80 zx, the five speed was/is making a kind of grinding/metal to metal noise when you get on or let off the gas in all gears. Just yesteday it started having this awful vibration in all gears above 1500rpms. All noises and vibrations go away when in neutral or if I have the clutch in. Any suggestions as to what the problem is? I assume it's time for a new tranny, but wanted to make sure. Anybody have any ideas for a good shop, or parts source? Never torn one down, any help with rebuild tips would also be good. Thanks, Scott

I need advice. My 77 runs very rich. the gas smell is very noticable when standing near car with it running. So far I have replaced all of the z-pole connectors for the injectors, thermotine switch, cold start valve, Water temp and air regulator. They were very loose and brittle. Have done a continuity test per the shop manual with every switch testing good.I have also corrected any vacume leaks, replcing all vacume lines. I am wondering if it could be the mixture setting on the airflow meter. My shop manual says to use a CO meter during adjust it. Does anyone know if you can damage the engine by adjusting the mixture without it. I am thinking of just adjusting it counte…

I was curious on how far the rpm's should go up when the engine is cold and has the "fast idle" for a minute or so? Mine will goes up to about 950rpm's and it just seems a little low. Is this what it should be at when it's warming up? I think you can adjust the air regulator with the nut on the side the rpm's of when it's on the "fast idle" but need to know what to set it at, other wise I'll probably end up buying a new one.
