We just got a '73 240 on friday. First 240, have a few 300's along with some other rides so we are getting to know this one. I've always wanted one, and this one should be a good project. It's had a lot of work done to it in the past 4 or so years, hasn't been on the road in those years. It has the three weber carb setup, a mallory distributer and electronic ignition, header, new shocks, u-joints a five speed transmission ( from ??) and a bunch of other stuff. Needs some body work, paint is pealing off, but overall, in pretty good shape. Does anyone know the metric screw size for the Parking Lamp/ Turn Signal Lense screws? There are 6 of them in each of the front lower lense housings. My screw gauge is a poor one for small fine thread screws---I.E. Chinese made :tapemouth Near as I can tell from trying they would be M3.5 and there are 3 different lengths depending on which of the lense studs they are to go into. 15.5 mm 17.5 mm 24.5 mm Has anyone ( Will, Escanlon, Beandip, Dave ) sourced these in stainless steel or brass as was mentioned in a previous thread about problematic original parts that could be improved? I have a 80 zx, the five speed was/is making a kind of grinding/metal to metal noise when you get on or let off the gas in all gears. Just yesteday it started having this awful vibration in all gears above 1500rpms. All noises and vibrations go away when in neutral or if I have the clutch in. Any suggestions as to what the problem is? I assume it's time for a new tranny, but wanted to make sure. Anybody have any ideas for a good shop, or parts source? Never torn one down, any help with rebuild tips would also be good. Thanks, Scott

I need advice. My 77 runs very rich. the gas smell is very noticable when standing near car with it running. So far I have replaced all of the z-pole connectors for the injectors, thermotine switch, cold start valve, Water temp and air regulator. They were very loose and brittle. Have done a continuity test per the shop manual with every switch testing good.I have also corrected any vacume leaks, replcing all vacume lines. I am wondering if it could be the mixture setting on the airflow meter. My shop manual says to use a CO meter during adjust it. Does anyone know if you can damage the engine by adjusting the mixture without it. I am thinking of just adjusting it counte…

I was curious on how far the rpm's should go up when the engine is cold and has the "fast idle" for a minute or so? Mine will goes up to about 950rpm's and it just seems a little low. Is this what it should be at when it's warming up? I think you can adjust the air regulator with the nut on the side the rpm's of when it's on the "fast idle" but need to know what to set it at, other wise I'll probably end up buying a new one.

Does anyone know of a body shop that will do restoration on a 1973 240z? I was hit about two weeks ago, and I have had no luck finding a shop to do the job. Damage is mainly on the Front Right Side. Thanks! -Adam

Ok So i set the timing on my 240z and it still is pinging!! Could it be to the fact that I dont have my PCV hose that goes from the balance tube to the block on it right now and that I have the PCV valve plugged???

I've made the decision to convert my son's '76 FI to carbs, and need to get hold of good resources to do it right. I've read a number of posts, and believe I've got some great starting info, but need manuals on proper installation and setup for a '71 SU setup. Thanks in advance for direction.

Hey everyone, I'm driving my 73 240z and while shifting into fourth gear the clutch suddenly stops working and I am unable to get it into any gear. After getting it home and upon further inspection it appeared that the master cyclinder for the clutch has failed, at least that's the best guess and just want to make sure before we order a new one. So when I press on the clutch it is completely limp and we bleed the master cylinder and it was really dirty, it was a greenish brown color. When the clutch pedal is pressed on you can still see the operating cylinder pushing the push rod, but the pedal still as no pressure. Just to make sure this year doesn't come with …

I want to upgrade my stock differential in my 1971 Datsun 240z. I already upgrade to the 5spd tranny from a 280zx. Do I have to go with a all new assembly or can I get a mechanic to change out the gears? I want to get a better acceleration.

My early Z has the plastic evap fuel tank and it has developed some hairline cracks in it:surprised . Is there any way of repairing this? The metal tank is too big and won't fit. Any thoughts? Thanks, Stephen
