Ok So i am rebeuilding my 1971 Datsun 240 and I cant figure out where one line on the balance tube goes? I plugged it But i think it needs to be going to something. I replaced the od stock air filter with new K&N air cleaners. The hole on the balance tube that I have no clue where it goes is in the middle and it kinda points downward and it sucks in air. I currently have it plugged. Should i run it into the valve cover since the valve tube is not going to anything? (I have a K&N breather on the valve cover right now) Or should i keep it plugged? Another thought was does it go into the block? The block opening is bigger than the opening on the balance tube? It woul…

oky so i replaced my points and condenser and rotor and distruburator cap and i started it...and when it runs it back fires like crazy and then it dies out....i know im runing rich but i cant time it so what can i do?

so i think this is preatty common in z's. my door locks dont work ...they just wont go down sometimes(rarely)they will but when i try it it wont ....so my car remains unlocked and that aint good how do i fix this?

I'm rebuilding a 260Z and desperately need some expert advise on an electrical problem. Each time I start her up the oil, temp & fuel gages work fine for a few minutes then they become erratic and go to zero. All three are on the same 10A circuit as well as the turn signal, tach & choke warning light. The amp gage works fine but doesn't go thru the fuse box. I've traced the gage grounding to the alternator housing and have continuity. The alternator and regulator appear to work well, 12volts at idle and 14.5 @ 2000rpm. Neither tach nor turn signals work properly either. The tach pegs to the right at start up and may occasionally drop back to proper rpm. Turn …

i have a 78 and im tryin to replace the timing components. i have the motor at TDC on compression stroke. the notch in the crankshaft is pointing up. and the valves on the 1 cylinder are open. when i get it all back together the rotor on the distributer is not pointing at the #1 sparkplug. its way off. also is the crankshaft puley supose to have play in it b4 you bolt it secure to the motor? any help would be apreciated. thanks

First, a little background info. I bought my '78 280Z 17 years ago and due to many factors, it hasn't been on the road until late last fall. I rebuilt the engine years ago with flat top pistons and an N47 head. I have driven the car around 200 miles total over several days. I have the stock cam in the car right now, BTW, not the cam in my sig. When I rebuilt the engine, I bought new injectors and had them flow matched. The fuel tank has been cleaned and relined w/POR15 and the filter is new. Fuel pressure reads where it should per the FSM at idle, but I haven't tested it under load yet. Does anybody have some close up pictures of how the 240z linkage looks like from the firewall to the balance tube? My linkage is sticking............... I belive it is because I am missing a piece? Is there suppose to be a a metal piece with a rubber grommet in it? Please let me know Thanks
