Good afternoon to all. In case you do not know I have been busy with my 83 280ZX. All little things but still need addressing. My talking lady is not working and I have narrowed it down to the speakers in the car. From what I have read the sounds are transmitted to the left front speaker. At the moment this speaker is not working. Not sure why. So I have two questions. 1. How do you remove the dash speakers ? 2. What replacement speakers can be used and still be able to use the talking lady? Thank you again :stupid:

My original antenna was broken when I bought the car (mast was broken off). I removed the interior panels and removed the antenna. When I removed the two screws that secure the mast to the rest of the unit, I realized the white plastic (does this "push" the mast up and down? or is it the actual antenna?) is broken and VERY brittle. My question: IF the motor and all else works (I have NOT verified this yet), is there a replacement available for the actual sectioned antenna AND can the white plastic "wire" be sourced and "rewound", effectively refurbishing the antenna? I was able to pull an antenna from a 197? 280Z and thought it would be a simple "switch", but this week…

Hi all. I'm new to the forum and need some quick help. On a wild hair, I'm going to look at a '72 240 Z this morning and I was wondering if there are any special things to look for as far as restorability. I used to own a '68 510 so I'm somewhat familiar with Datsuns in general. The current owner claims it runs but thinks it needs carb work. I was just going to make sure all the pieces seemed to be there and there wasn't a lot of rust. Any special pitfalls to look for as I inspect the car? Asking price is $1300. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Rob

ok so heres the problem. my car was starting 3 days ago. and it was working fine and dandy. i would start it up like 3 times a day. but then all of a sudden 2 days ago it died on me. symtoms are strong running but stop suddenly. what i did so far was.... changed the battery ... . i suspect it might be the fuel pump, distributor cap, fuel filter, spark plugs, rotor, etc... i might have to replace all of them... ok the wierd thing is that my choke doesn't work at all. there are no lines under neath. .. how it starts up now? the engine wants to run, it cranks and all, but i think something is stopping it.!! help please..thanks a lot everyone!! haha im starting to pa…

So I have this JSK O-Ring fuel rail and intend to install it on the car to help sell it. Yes I am finally getting ready to move and need to sell the Z. But anyway, it has the 450cc injectors on it that are for a Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX Turbo. I was wondering that if you twaeked the AFM and fuel pressure, could these work? I really doubt they will so my next question is; Does anyone have a lower cc set of O-Ring injectors they are willing to trade or sell?

I have no clue what to do about the window on the passenger side. I heard a "clunk" while driving today, so when I got home I pulled the door panel and BAM...the window goes slidding down....didn't break however. There were two pieces just barely hanging on, the bolts were almost completly out and they were just dangling....(PO I assume did this) I went ahead and removed them and took the pictures of them. I pulled the window back up all the way and have it proped it up with one of the "arms". I was going to try and put everything back, and even after consulting Wick and Hanes, I have no clue. I have sat out here and rolled the window up and down to try and see how …

Hey guys, Yes, I'll do a search later, but I'm right in the middle of this project and was hoping for a quick answer. I installed new weatherstripping on the passenger side, and when I close the door I have a huge gap....I can get at least two fingers in the gap. Before I placed the new rubber the door closed perfectly. What's the best resolution to my problem. I'm assuming the same will happen when I move to the drivers side. Thank, Randy

I bought a Fridgidair A/C unit from a 73 240z that was an aftermarket unit. It is in perfect condition. My 72Z did not have air and I don't know where some of the parts connect. I wonder where the power to the control box connects under the dash. There is a solid wire coming from the control box, I don't know where this goes. also, there is a drain hose that goes through the firewall, does it connect under the AC unit or is that hole where the solid wire goes? I am going to use a rotary compressor and mount it where the smog pump went. Should be the best of both worlds on a hot day. Thanks Bob M

Not sure where to post this, so it ended up here. I have done numerous searches on gas tank removal, and not found the answer to my question. I did see the link to the fuel tank removal guide somewhere here, but it did not mention if any other components of the car need to be removed to get the tank out. If no other parts have to be removed, then I can follow the instructions on that link. I have limited tools where the car is stored, so I would like to know in advance of me planning the removal as to how involved, how much time it may take or if I need to bring any additional tools. Does anyone have a door window GUIDE CHANNEL to spare?????????? Seems they're about as rare as hen's teeth. My "She Who Must Be OBEYED" decided she'd come with me for a quick spin around town, started to wind up the window and complained that it was hard to wind so, on our return, I removed the door panel and, LO and BEHOLD, one snapped off bolt. (I wondered what that rattling sound was coming from the door). Anyway, .... anyone got a guide channel they can let me have?????????? Rick. :devious: :devious:

hey fellow Z owners. glad to be a part of your community. maybe someone can help me. i have a 78 280 with a rebiult engine with 35000 miles on it. last week it started missing and back fireing real bad. i couldnt figure it out. i took some compression tests and none of the cycliders will hold compression. im not hard on the car i dont even hot rod it. a leak down test showed it is loosing compression through the rings. it doesnt burn any oil. any help would be apreciated. thanks
