I have a 1972 z and want to switch it over to a pertronix ignition or something similar.I like the pertronix because it keeps the stock look and it seems reasonably simple to install. Do you retain any of the original wiring( or interior pieces) at all or do you basically use the shell. I have an extra distribtor and the wiring looks bad, however the rest looks great. Hope this is not a dumb question.:stupid: Thanks in advance for any help. John

I just got an S130 for a great price, but it was missing the fuse box cover and has a couple of blown fuses and a short somewhere. I know this isn't the right site, but I figured someone here has an S130 also. Can somebody please post or send me a picture of a legible fuse box cover so that I can start to track down my problem. Thanks in advance. Scott By the way, it's a 1980. Thanks again.

Okay so Sblake and I have been shooting PM's back and forth about my fuel system and troubleshooting but now I have an even bigger problem that I'd like some input on. My Engine is locked, the tranny is in neutral and the starter is out. the battery has a full charge and we cant crank it by hand. Now heres the kicker. If I was to wait about 2-4 hours I could go back out there hook everything up and it will try and turn over but no gas. And that is why I have been chatting with Sblake. Anyone got any ideas? Christian

I sprung a leak at the outlet elbow on my fuel tank last night. It was cracked somewhere and somewhat repaired by a previous owner with a gob of JB weld. I managed to hit it while cleaning the underside in prep for paint.. I’m curious to know if this is a 2 (roughly)elbow that attaches to the outer shell of the tank, or is this elbow is the end of a longer line that goes down in tank? I’m trying to get an idea of what would be necessary in order to fix it. I plan on dropping the tank this weekend or coming week, and siphoning a full tank of gas. Thanks Todd

Ok, Im pretty sure im just an idiot missing something simple. I need to get the plastic panel off that covers the heater controls and radio. I took the 4 screw out. I took the faceplate off the radio, the radio is free. I took the knob and nut off the fan switch. I've taken the ends off the slider controls. In my book, it says the face plate will just slide right out. My problem is that the faceplate seems to be connected to the slider controls still. It wont move at all with respect to them. I dont want to break this plastic piece, but I really need to get the heater working (The government says it has to work in order to safety the car so I can put plates on it…

I just bought a 1982 280zx, and while bringing it home the clurch pedal fell to the floor. I went to step on it to downshift, and there was no pedal! It was no problem while on the highway, but what a mess once I got into traffic! It looks like there is a little leakage around the reservoir on the clutch master cylinder. What is the first thing that you would suspect as the problem? Is it a failed clutch master cylinder, or a failure in the actuating cylinder, or a problem with the clutch itself? I was able to drive it by starting it in first, letting the starter get the car rolling, and then timing my shifts with the RPM's. But I also noticed that the car was having prob…

The body shop is putting the 1971 Fairlady Z (JDM 240Z) back together and don't have a clue about the rear hatch weatherstripping!!! Is there any weatherstripping actually put onto the rear hatch itself or is it all on the body? Is there a description or diagram somewhere I could look at? I'm afraid they are screwing it all up!!! HELP PLEASE!!! Thank you!

I am the selection committee chair for the Cincinnati Concours for Muscle Cars and Asian Collectible Cars. I am looking for a concours condition (restored, factory correct) Series 1 for the show in June (June 11) in Cincinnati. This will be the second year for ACC cars in the show and last year we had a modified 260Z as well as Toyota's own 2000GT from the California Museum. I would really like to exhibit an original. Our website is www.ohioconcours.com. The show information and nomination forms are located there. If someone has a lead, let me know and I will follow up. Thanks in advance, Fred Jones fdjonesjr@aol.com President ZCCO

Has anyone used Dashboard Restorations to repair/restore their dash? They are in Washington and I am planning on sending my dash to them this fall. They also can do the center console. What do people think of the dash covers that you can purchase and glue over the top?

Not to terribly long ago, I started smelling gas after I parked the car. I poked around a little and quickly found gas on the PCV valve. By on, I mean you touch the valve and your finger becomes wet with gasoline. As far as I can tell, the only way gasoline could reach the valve would be via the Cold Start Valve. Thinking that the valve may be staying on longer than neccessary, I replaced the thermostat, checked the cleanliness of the sensors, and cleaned all the connections on the various thermostat mounted items (one was green with corrosion). Put everything back together, and drove 3.5 miles to work. I thought it best to check all my connections for leaks once I got …

What is the best procees for doing this...ie, I don't want to chip the paint. If anyone has any thoughts please let me know. Thanks, Randy

I'll start with being brief. I have owned a 1978 Datsun 810 for 26 years. It has, and still is, realiable, dependable and I still have faith but it has also had little brain warping idiosyncracies that even neither the dealers, car repair places, nor myself could understand -- costly, to say the least. Now it's bothering me because I cannot afford to take the chance of wasting money on someone telling me "It's fixed" then the problem arises again two days later. My future posts will explain some of the problems I've had and what eventually happened. Hopefully, my past problems might give someone an idea of what's going on with their car. Also, I hope to gain by someone gi…
