Im kinda new to the forums so just work with me. I own a 76 280z (auto)or about 3-4 years now and have done alot to fix it up, from the engine to the body work. and i have a huge fuel problem, ANY TIPS? Heres an example of my problem: I filled up the tank which is about 13-14 gallons and filled it up with premium fuel. then drove it for a couple days, with some speeding here and there, and not even by the end of the week my tank is empty and i only got 140-150 miles for a full tank. I got 200 miles from a full tank once and that was like a year or two ago. could the injectors be old or is something wrong with my engine. i figured the original transmission is holding it b…

Okay so I have finally gotten my Z mostly put back together and it starts. The problem is it wont stay running. I'm getting way too much fuel and its flooding my engine. Is there anyway that I can turn down the amount of fuel that is being injected without having a program for it? And if I have to use a program is anyone in Oregon willing to come over to my place and help me if they have the program cuz I wont be able to get it to a shop. Also is there anything else that might be the problem with it on why the cylinders may be flooding? I'd really like to get it running....Constantly Thanks

Guys, I need two parts for a 73Z that I absolutely cannot find. Any ideas or direction would be appreciated. I've exhausted my internet search and ebay searches! 1) I need fuel tank straps 2) Bracket (usually welded to the car) that the rear hatch strut attaches to. Thanks

have a '73 240z, automatic with two weber carbs. i've been tinkering with it for a year or so. sometimes its a rocket, most of the time it's a turd. it's weird. anyway, up to half throttle the engine is fine, but anything more, nothing. the tranny downshifts and the engine feels like it's choking. i've replaced all the carb gaskets, cleaned the crap out of the filters, adjusted and readjusted, and readjusted the carbs. changed the points to a pertronix HEI, new pertronix coil, new wires, cap, rotor, plugs .033 gap, oil change, new muffler, replaced the intake/exhaust gasket. i think the timing is set at 9 degrees advanced. i live in reno, which i think is somewh…

I just bought my first Z - a 1980 28 zx. It ran great until I washed it. Now it won't rev past 2250 rpm. It bogs and won't do anything until it goes down to about 1500. Anything under 2250 it runs great. What can I check? It has new plugs/wires, new fuel filter. How do I check fuel pump? or does this sound like ignition? How do I check the coil? I had a L28E head reworked and the machinest cut the head to much,he said he did not. I took it to another shop, they said it was cut .30 it seems to be to much. They said i could use it if i could find a spacer. Does any one know where i can find one of these? THE FIRST MACHINEST SAID I DID SOMETHING WRONG. But i know i didnt ,Itried everthing i knew and nothing worked, I checked compression it was way off, I checked the timing it was right on,so ipulled it off put the old head on and it works fine.The second shop said they would not go any more than .15 on the spacer. And also does any one know how much you can mill off of a stock head?

Hey, everyone, I just got my first Z - a 1980 280zx. I'm very happy, even though it needs a lot of work. It ran great when I drove it home 2 days ago, and it seemed cold natured, but after it warmed up it was very smooth. Now, all of a sudden, it won't rev past 2250 rpm. When it hits 2250, it bogs down until the revs drop to about 1500, then back to normal. It does this in every gear, under load or not. I'm super frustrated and just looking for some input. I changed the fuel filter, revved it w/o an air cleaner, nothing helps. Any ideas? Thanks!

Just a quick question concerning removing my timing cover. I have fallen victim to the rookie mistake of a poorly wedged tensioner, and it has popped out. So I'm taking the timing cover off. Should I be concerned with draining the oil first? Does the oil level sit above the bottom of the timing cover. I know this sounds like a stupid question, but I am new to working on Z cars and dont want to have oil spilling all over the place, and would rather not have to drain the oil just to get my timing set.
