i seem to be having a problem with alternators for the last few years. it doesn't matter if it's a new alternator or a reman. the current alternator is new, and i've had it about a year and it's dead. the voltage reg is not very old and the wiring has been redone a few years back, and the belt is good and not slipping. any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. also, what is involved with converting to a zx alternator with the internal voltage regulator? by the way i have a 73 240z.

Found out the hard way that front brake pad clips break easily... I was able to get another set ordered from O'Reily's (arriving tomorrow). So I can avoid the same problem next time, what's the proper way to install them without bending or breaking them? On a high note... the new pads went on pretty easily.

I feel terrible posting in this section for my first post but it needs to be done...First off this is my first car (dreams come true), never thought it would be possible, but I picked up a '72 240Z with 83,550kmi, triple webers w/ k&n filters, rear sway bar, Monza Exhaust(I think, can't find the name right now...guy gave me 2 to be exact), 15 inch rims/tires, whaletail, urethane front, plus extra goodies like nice new fuel lines, new wiring harness, performance springs (unsure what make or spring load) and a few others here and there. Problem is the guy who sold it to me had inherited it from a friend meaning that he knew nothing about what his friend had done to it p…

Just got a 1973 240Z w/automatic... trying to replace all the fluids, so I thought I would drain the differential and refill this afternoon. Had no problem draining (once I got the plug unsiezed), but the filling is a problem. Is that stubby plastic fill plug on the top of the "diff" really the inlet for the new oil? If so, how does one overcome the narrow clearance and gravity to refill??? The access is so limited, I'm not sure if I can even get a tube in there to pump it in...

Greetings all, I hope you guys don't throw me off because of all my questions. I noticed yesterday and today( here in Knoxville, TN it's been in the low 60's) while driving my temp gauge is just barely moving past 120. I went on the interstate for about 4 miles after a 15-20 mile leisure drive and thought maybe it should register hotter. I figure I will go ahead and replace the thermostate next week, unless you guys think otherwise. I did do a search on this but the post that came back addressed "over heating" not "under" Is this cause for alarm, or just normal. Again, Thanks. Randy

I've searched but can't find the answer; looked in Motorsports catalog & in Victoria British; both have different pictures. I replaced my wheel brake cyclinders on my 1976 280x while I had the car apart to replace the half shaft u-joints. It's been down a while and I'm stuck! I got new brake shoes with the wheel cylinders but the return springs were no that old, so I didn't order those. I can't get the bottom spring on to save my life. Am I correct in that the upper spring is he shorter of the two and the curve on the ends twist in different directions and the bottom return spring is longer spring and the curved ends curve in the same direrection??? If so, they will N…

I just filled the tank on the 240 and noticed gas was dripping from the rear. After inspection it appears to be running down a black hose that is located almost at the far rear. If you look up from the ground it is behind the tank, nearer the taillight(right side). Any ideas why at half a tank it doesnt leak, but full it's dripping? Thanks,

Hey Gang. I have a '76 280Z that up till now has been running like a pro! I noticed a slight miss and after a quick glance found that the coil wire was melting at the distributor. All four fuseable links are intact. Thought I would ask for help before I dig into it.... Thanks...Chris'sZ

The drivers side door on my 73 240 closes fine but it's not a tight seal, in otherwords it's closed, but it still looks like its not shut all the way. Whats the best way to adjust this? I cleaned everything and it helped with the passenger door as it now closes perfectly, but I can't get the drivers side to close all the way. Thanks for any input. Randy
