Seems like this was my last post as well, but I got the last problem sorted eventually.........:stupid: Here's the story so far: Car is a GS31 that's had the original L20A removed and replaced with an L28 by PO, whoever did the swap left all the L20 EFI gear (manifolds, ECU, AFM etc) there and hooked it up to the L28. Car ran fine when I first got it, started first go. Since putting the motor back together and doing a few laps at Teretonga (a local race track), I've had the car out a couple of times, without any major problems. She seemed to run a little rich on cold starts (a bit smokey when revved but it cleared as it warmed up) and drove fine. On Saturday, drove it …

Everyone, I am looking for a 75' FSM for a 280z in PDF. I have the hard copy but it's about 25+ years old and is falling apart quickly with some pages missing and most out of order. I want to buy a 75 FSM in PDF so I can print them out and put it all in a binder and if a page goes missing or is damaged, I just print a new one. Courtesy Nissan has the CD's on the site, but the currently unavailable and it says 4-8 weeks till they come back ... I think I remeber someone telling me have been NLA for a while. Also I have been unable to find a 75' FSM in PDF from ebay. Anybody got any ideas on where to locate one? Thanks for the help...

Okay folks, the Z is still running rich, and stills appears to be burning oil. I'm going to list off some symptoms, and I would very much appreciate anyone who would like to give me some ideas. I'm finally getting to that point where I'm feeling comfortable working on my car by myself and replacing bad parts. Here's what I'ves got for yas: I recently discovered a discconnected PCV hose, I felt the hose, the vacuum here felt pretty weak. There was also no distinct "whistling" sound that gets spoken of often. Reconnected, better idle, 'can't tell if the exhaust is any more or less smokey though. I replaced a cracked hose atop the valve-cover. This is the breather hose t…

About a year ago, I was given a 1971 Datsun 240z. The guy who gave it to me let it sit for over 9 years, without touching it once. He said that when he parked it, it had over-heated. And that the clutch didn't work, at all. Me, some friends, and some partners/sponsors have been working on restoring this car. But, we've run into problems getting it to start. The car has no signs of over-heating, engine damage, and the clutch works on occasion. This is where we've gotten stuck. The engine turns over, but refuses to start unless the air is cut off from the carbs (we use paper towels). If it does fire, it only fires on a few cylinders, then backfires through the rear carb and…

Hello everyone, I have been working on my vehicle for a while and have not been able to figure out what the previous owner did with all of the electrical. I think I may need to replace the wiring harnesses or pay someone to help me. I am not exactly sure how everything is supposed to be connected because they cut wires everywhere. Can anyone refer me to a place or person that can assist. I also need to know where I can purchase a new harness. I live in Los Angeles, CA Thanks, Desperate...

I have a 71' 240z. My A/C and heater worked great, my blower worked after I found a loose black wire under the dash and bolted it to some metal. I took my car to get the frame rail replaced, which they did a good job on. Of course they had to remove the engine and A/C compressor. I didn't replace the freon in the A/C so I was unable to test that afterwords. But now my blower doesn't work. I checked the fuse, but other than that I don't know why it won't work now. Any ideas?

I can't get a charge to the battery in my 77 280. I have a new battery, altenator and regulator. With the motor running I put a voltmeter ( Fluke series 3 multimeter ) and get no reading. I have taken it to the parts store and have had it tested in the car several times with it showing no charge going to the battery. I took it home did the A to F test with the voltmeter and got nothing. I took it out went to the parts store and it bench tested good. At this time I got a new battery and put them back in the car. Still no charge to the battery. Put a new regulator in still no charge to the battery. Did a continuity test on the WR conection from the alt. to the WR conection …

I have a 240 engine that is in the process of being rebuilt. I am told that the engine has been rebuilt before and that I need pistons that are .040 over the standard bore. My problem is that I am unable to find them. Does anyone have a set to sell, or know where I can find them?

I've had the '77 280z since Jan but as it's been a work in progress it never got cranked when it was cold until now as the temp here in TN has dropped. The mechanic that I had do some work on it told me that these cars are notorious for being cold natured. Is this the case ? I cranked it on Mon mrng to drive to work and it immediately died. It recranked again but died again. On the 3rd try it stayed cranked. My concern is 1) are all fuel inj Z cars like this 2) do I have an easily fixable problem....once it gets warm it's fine except for my idle problem which has been with the car since I got it...going to try to eliminate this idle problem soon.

Can I disable this to solve my idle problem? If so are there any problems resulting from this?
