I am in the final throws of re-assembling my front suspension. Everything is on save for the front passenger hub. When I initially seat the hub on the spindle, it will rotate freely without a sound. However, when I fully seat the hub in the correct location, I get a severe grinding noise coming from the back. If I HAND tighten the nut so that the hub has no lateral free play, the hub is very hard to turn and there is an awful grinding noise. At times the hub will completely bind up. Does the back lip of the hub have a tight clearance with the spindle face? Previous POs have hammered on this lip a bit and it is uneven. Could the deformations on the lip be rubbing/bi…

I have a couple shop questions. First off, I know that you have to be really careful with the old fluids and they have to be properly disposed of. When draining the fluids, do you need to keep them seperate or can they all go into the same plastic container for disposal? What are some good containers or drain tubs to use and where do you dispose of the old fluids? 2nd Question. I don't own any airtools. Would getting a 2HP 6 gallon air compressor be a useful tool for working on cars or would it be underpowered and useless? For those of you who use air tools, what would be some good ones to have on hand besides an air wrench? I am still about 2 weeks away from picki…

Have a 77 280Z and the clutch plate broke and am installing a new centerforce 1 clutch which works with all stock parts. Have unbolted everything and just need to get the driveshaft out to drop the tranny down to get at the clutch. The U-joint has locking snap rings that dont have holes for snap ring pliers, which I have never seen before, so no clue how to get the ujoint out to get the driveshaft out to drop the tranny and so on and so on....help please, this is my only means of transportation and can't afford to have it done professionally....please write back to me either on here or at slobound76@yahoo.com. Thanks

I have a 76 280Z that gets power to ignition switch, but not to starter. I've looked into fuse panel, and don't understand why all the "buss bars" don't have voltage. I have an idea (after looking at FSM) that it could be the starter relay mounted above fuse panel. You can hear it click (and relays elsewhere), but I don't neccesarily believe its getting continuity to the load side of the relay. Am I looking in the right direction? Just like more input before I crawl up into dash to pull it out and check though. What do ya'll think?

I need to buy a gas cap for a '70 240Z. It doesn't need to be original, but it needs to fit. I saw that MSA has them for $54, but that seems a little high. Does anyone have one or know where I can find one? P.S. I left from Chattanooga, TN and drove to Birmingham at 4AM last week and filled up on the way out. I must have left the gas cap off in a sleepy stupor (or maybe it was stolen, doubtful. yeah that's it. it was stolen.). I noticed it when I got to the 'Speedsouth Solo Shootout' event and since I had right at half a tank, I figured no gas would slosh out, so I just used a rubber band and a plastic bag and voila, a makeshift gas cap. Well, Gas did slosh out an…

Hi. Need Some Design Advice. Unfortunately I am not an Datsun owner. But I love em. I am still kicking my friends butt for trading in his Datsun 240Z for the new 350Z. But I did steal his Datsun shift nob. Its mine now. Anyways, a bunch of us diecast car enthusiast love the shape of the Datsun 240Z, its one rare modern cars that actually have a "sexy" shape to it. Attached to this post is a picture of the Hotwheels diecasting of it. The far left as it comes in the box, the middle one is chromed, and the far right is naked, no paint. My question to you guys is this, what design should I modify it too? I have been thinking about a GTO version, or super charge it? Sug…
