I'm brand new here and while I have basic automotive knowledge, I'm not real familiar with these cars, so I'm looking for some short cuts:) I have a 1973 240Z in my back yard that belongs to a young friend of mine who bit off more than he can chew; I have no idea when it last ran but it's been in my yard for 2 years now. It is a complete "project car" and he's in no position to restore it so now it is for sale. I want to see if I can at least get it to run to make it a little more attractive to a potential buyer. I transferred a battery from another car and the starter spins the engine over. I've got compression, I've got spark, but the fuel line from the tank s…

Can anyone direct me in finding a couple of parts for my heating system? You see I took my 1977 280Z in for a new evap core and can't walk away without the heating system being addressed. The technician is wanting me to find a heater control valve, cable operated with a capillary, and the 2 nd part is a heater control valve vacuum operated. Can any of you help me, so I can get my car back within a reasonable amount of time? Do any of you think Motorsport in Orange, CA can be of help or where would you recommend?:disappoin :knockedou

Hey everyone I'm new to the forum. I just picked up a 71 240z that has just had it's engine rebuilt, hasn't even been broken in yet. I was letting the car sit at idle before I adjusted the carborators when i glanced over and noticed that the oil pressure gauge was pegged at the bottom. I gave it a little gas and it raised to about 20. After letting off it soon returned to the bottom of the gauge. Also when i give it gas a small blue cloud is puffed out. The weird thing is, if i drive it around a little bit it will stop spilling out smoke. I can even let it sit after that and it still wont smoke. I pulled a couple plugs and there weren't any signs of oil, but it wa…

I'm still fighting my BCDD valve problem with the notorious high idle when downshifting. I've read a vew threads about going to a larger throttle body and eliminating the BCDD altogether. Has anyone done this and does it work or what else can I do to solve my idling problem on my '77 280. Any help is appreciated.

......operative word being "was"! I got the inspection report back from www.automobileinspections.com - phenomenal. Do you know they sent me 63 pictures? I didn't even know what some of them were. One of them looked like it was inside the oil comparment or some place like that. And the owner said "no rust." The pics alone defied that, even before I read the report. There are potential brake and tranny issues. All four tires were barely legal (so much for new Pirelli's on the front wheels). In fact, the report began "Judi, there are so many issues with this car I don't even know where to start." The inspection cost me $350 and saved me easily - not only the price o…

I just got my gas tank dropped Sunday and the contents are alot of crud and rust.(car sat for 6 years) I have been reading many of the forums and am trying to decide if I should take it in to a radiator shop and have it boiled and resealed or just get a new one. Does anyone know where you can get a new tank besides a dealership? Or has anyone had luck with having their tank redone? The prices locally vary and being a woman don't want to be taken for a ride...so to speak... by saying the tank needs to remanufactured...which is where the price gets ugly, and wonder if a new tank would be cheaper. Any advice anyone has would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I HEAR GUYS SAY, well, I am off to the frame shop, or, oh yea, my local welder put the floor pans in, ect, ect. Well, I don’t seem to know any frame guys, welder guys, "Z" guys, or any paint guys. My town has, from what I see no special interest guys at all. Only the usual suspects, Toyota, Honda, Mercedes, and in Ct. Bob Sharp Nissan, good old #33 if you all know what that means. Sharp Nissan told me, even though Bob Sharp won several races in the 70's with his Z, they don’t do work on them....... Any direction, or suggestions for either paint guys, frame, and or rust repair guys, or a place to get info would be great. I live in south Salem, New York, 10 minutes from…
