In the middle of engine rebuild and I am going through the engine bay, On the passenger side I see the rusted frame area. See Pic. What can I do to this? Is this something I can weld a patch to or is it really serious. I doesn't look good. I can shake the car and the split moves.

ok, when I hit my brakes...my parking lights come on.. I can't figure out what the hell is going on.. it started with the fuse for the dash lights blowing out.. and the fuse post for the running lights melted part of the fuse box... thought there might be a short or loose connection.. so after messing with it, I got the running lights to work, the dash lights to work, but I cant stop the running lights to come on when I hit the brakes. Plus the fuse posts for the running lights still gets really hot.. anyone have this problem before?

It will be my 3rd z - my first two were in the early 80s (and I vowed I'd have another!) I recently purchased a 1980 280ZX from e-bay. I am having a bit of trouble tracking the vin to find out exactly what I have. If anyone can help I would realy appreciate it. VIN# IS - HS130220226. I'm trying to do a value adjustment on a 75 280z and unable to loosen the pivot locking nut on the value adjusters. Is there a special tool for this or some trick trick I'm missing. Any help would be appreciated . Andy

Well,... I now have a job working at New Generation Motorsports (ngmotorsports.com). I started monday, last week. And, thankfully, Gino my boss has allowed me to take my 240z into the shop and work on it. We solved most of the problems you all have mentioned, and I thank you for the advice. The fuel is perfect, and spark is beautiful. But, she still wouldn't start up. So, we took the head off. We noticed that the timing chain was extremely loose. The valves are damaged, and the pistons took extremely hard hits. On top of that, the brakes need to be completely taken out and replaced. Along with the clutch. Does anyone know where I can find Watanabe RS 15X8 or 15X7 (Drool)? i would really like the one pictured here with the same size. http://www.houston-imports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=136284 I am located in California. I was about 1 mile from at the gas pump recently when my 72 240z refused to start. I had my wife crank over the engine until I saw smoke coming from the smog pump, air pump, whatever it is called. The pump would not turn and the belt was up around the rim of the pulley, causing the other belts to be frozen. I had no tools, so I cut the belt and drover her home. My question: is it safe to drive the car without that belt? Will not having this pump working affect the performance or gas mileage of the car? I am not really concerned about emissions at the moment, I just need my baby to get me to work!

Put on my left signal this morning in my 1977 280 2+2 and the headlights died. Not working still! Do I need to replace the entire switch assy or can I do something to repair or bypass the dimmer/turn signal? My dash lights have been in and out for weeks as well. Same circuit, can I bypass something? Thanks Marty

Ok, I finally got around to having the gas tank cleaned and re-lined on my '77 280z and that solved my hesitation problem. Now I'm dealing with the infamous high idle when downshifting. It was taking 4 or 5 seconds for the idle to drop when shifting into first but now it stays high and will not drop down to the normal RPMs. Can it be adjusted or does it need to be replaced? I cannot find a vacuum leak so I'm ruling that out. If it does need to be replaced where do I find one. I read on another board of replacing the throttle body with a TWM throttle body...I'm wanting to stay stock as much as possible but I really would like to solve the idle problem...thx
