Like to get some clarification if I can Please. After looking through many posts that might provide an answer for me. Is the 78 model steering rack different from the 77 and older 280z racks. I’ve checked the Nissan parts listing and can’t find any difference other than the 240 p/n listings. What I’ve found is when I search for a replacement for the 1978 it’s either not available or on back order. The only site that show a listing is Buy Auto Parts and it’s back ordered. My manufacture date is 1/77. Can any one clear this up for me. Appreciate the help.

This is the second part of "timing chain set up incorrectly' posted Nov 30th. I tried to adjust the oil pump spindle as suggested by folks on this site. It would not after several hours adjust as suggested. I referred to how to rebuild you datsun engine by Tom Monroe and adjusted it as the book suggested this was different then what was suggested. It now turns over but will not start. Could this be related to the oil pump spindle position This is where it was set- This is what was suggested- This is where is was set per the book by tom monroe

Hi All, Had a service provider preform a rear disc brake conversion on a 73 240Z. Basically the stage one kit from MSA. Maxima calipers with 280z rotors. Before the car went into the shop the suspension was upgraded with new springs and struts. eibach springs 1" lower then stock. When the car was delivered from the service provider, began to experience a clunking in the rear of the car (drivers side first, then pass). Upon inspection for loose gland nut / strut or suspension issues, discovered (when the car was on the ground and the suspension was fully loaded) the SS hard brake line mount (L bracket mounted on the sub frame) is making contact with the emerge…

Is there any reason not to turn the cam lobes using a 19mm wrench rather than turning the engine over with a remote starter?

Need some help troubleshooting a problem with the cv axel installation. Bought the adapters from Silvermine an had the flanges welded to the adapters. This was the final piece to rebuilding the rear suspension. I understand there is a left and right 300zxt axle which I ordered. During the install the shafts were extremely tight and difficult to install. At first I thought they were not seated all the way but that was not the case. I did verify that the axles did have compression but still very difficult to put into position. The axle hubs spin easily until t he shafts are installed. After the shafts are installed it seems like they are binding due to the pressure between…

Attempting to install the R200 diff using Whiteheads mustache bar. The unit has offset washers tie wrapped to the bar front and back when I unboxed it. Not sure what they are for. Tried to contact them by email and left a vm. Need some help from anybody familiar with this product. The mounting hole seems a bit large and would have a lot of play on the rear of the diff. Not sure what I’m missing here.No possible way to use the washers. Studs protrude out 1/2 inch withe the aluminum washers. No way near long enough

I have searched on several forums and a lot of the information I could find seemed to be old. I will openly admit I am horrible at the search feature so that probably played a large part in it. Here’s my question can someone please point me in the direction of a good right up for a distributorless ignition setup. Preferably with LS coil packs? Thanks in advance.

I'm sure many of you Z owners are familiar with the dry-rotted rubber on the afm boot which can create a huge vacuum leak. I'd like to get a new boot, but some are over $100. Are there any alternatives out there? Maybe one from another vehicle that fits? Or do I just need to bite the bullet? Haha. Thanks!

I am swapping transmissions and must install my own crossmember but at what angle should the engine sit? At a slight incline back or should it be level? If someone could but a level on their cylinder head and give me a degree of pitch or just send me a photo of it that would be great! Thanks

Hey everyone, I want to preface this with I am a total dumbass: Basically, I was in a hurry to reinstall my round top carbs on my L28 and accidentally connected the fuel lines to the upper vent instead of the fuel inlet and ran the fuel pump until fuel came out of the front air filters. I'm guessing all I need to do is let the thing air out for a day or so before running, but any advice/concerns are much appreciated. Thanks! -Michael

Hey everyone, I'm stumped. After about a dozen weekends of trying and endless searching on this forum/ reading Haynes manuals- I need to swallow my pride and ask for help. I have a 1970 240 that hasn't run since the the late 90's. Since then it was sitting in a barn in rural Nebraska until it came to live with me about a year ago. I've been trying in vein to get this thing to fire up to no avail. I've looked at fuel, spark, timing, and compression with no joy. Here are the particulars: Fuel: Fuel Pump- It has a new mechanical fuel pump that pumps gas when cranked. With the gatorade bottle method, I'm getting what I believe to be pretty good flow a…
